Although this trip I had a call in order to go, and got my regular menu item of the grilled meatloaf sandwich it was as usual, a great experience. They are the nicest people. The restaurant inside is always clean and appealing. This sandwich is so delicious. I only ate 1/2 for a late lunch. The next day I wrapped the other half in foil, and baked it for about 10 minutes in the oven. The grilled bread came out just as crisp as the day before. The meatloaf and cheese was perfect. I have no idea why this place doesn't have five stars. I've been trying to try this place for months, finally got my chance. Pulled into the parking lot at 11:30 am and it was packed. Good sign. Minutes later and there was a line out the door. Walked in at the same time as a couple of firemen. Told them to go ahead of me, first time. One of the guys suggested the "grilled club". He said that it's the firehouse favorite. He nailed it! Huge sandwich and it was amazing. I could only eat half. For sure a shareable. Wow. This was a great sandwich; the Hot Italian is everything you want in a hot sub: plenty of meat, melted cheese, cold and crisp vegetables, and a great Italian dressing. It tasted so good I paused after two bites because I knew I wouldn't be able to stop. That dressing in that sandwich is fabulous: kind of a creamy Italian dressing. Service was good: plenty of registers open and they helped us order what we wanted. The place was packed when we arrived; still, there were a few tables open and they bring your sandwiches out to you. Midtown Deli is a favorite for us. The menu is diverse there are tons of soup, sandwich, and salad options. Service is always kind and work quickly to bring out the food. When you walk in there is a line to order at the counter, they give you a number, and bring you your food. Prices are very reasonable for the large portions! My husband ordered the reuben. He said it was good and it looked good. I ordered the make your own sandwich which consisted of ham, Swiss, lettuce, tomato and cucumber on rye. It was a sloppy mess. The ham was very fatty, there was hardly any cheese, the bread fell about because it was not fresh. They loaded it up with too many cucumber slices maybe to make up for the lack of cheese. Stopped here based on reviews but I was not impressed. When I ordered my sandwich I asked the lady Kathy if the meatball sandwich was good and she agreed so I said "sounds good" and then asked for a fountain drink. She rang up the bill for $2.95 and I mentioned she forgot the sandwich and she replied, you didn't order one. It took about 15 minutes to get the food and when it arrived it was cool, not warm or hot. I don't send things back because I know my order will be on the back burner and I'd have to wait another 15 minutes. So I'm not a fan and I'm not sure if I would return. I also asked for a military discount and she replied, I had to be in uniform. So no veteran support and for a non-military area I guess it's a way to say you do support the military without having to give a discount. read more

The place was jumping and I asked a man in line if he had eaten there before and he said "yes, frequently and it's great!" So, we stood in line and ordered our sandwiches. When you find a place that you like to eat, in a town that you visit repeatedly, you'll go back to that same restaurant over and over. Okay, so, really, I'm talking about myself, 'cause that's exactly what I do. And, Midtown Deli is one of those places. It just is. Go early or late, to avoid the hordes of other people who also love Midtown. Because somehow, Word has really gotten out, and they all show up. My favorite is the Asian Chicken Salad. Because I am gluten intolerant, I have it with grilled chicken, and it is a very good dish. The pimiento cheese is also very good; I sometimes take a container home with me. Yum. A wonderful deli... We met friends for lunch. The place was busy. About every other table was blocked for social distancing. The food was great. I had a bowl of their chicken corn chowder and it was excellent. I pared that with a Cheesesteak sandwich which was just great. My wife has the pimento cheese sandwich which is just slightly spicy and made with tomato. It was excellent and will be my choice next time I'm there. As the reviews say, this place gets SLAMMED at lunch time. But they move quick and the food is good. Really good and the ranch is homemade (a BIG thing for me). The meals are filling and the atmosphere is warm and inviting but its a fast paced place because lunch is short. We decided to stop in here because we were staying nearby. We are so glad we did! We ordered several sandwiches, several kids meals, and two different salads. Everything was very good! I was really hoping it was going to be that microwave fresh stuff ! It came with a pickle and chips. I also got a vegetable beef soup that was just the right size and hit the spot. The sandwich was toasted, with butter and a lot of mayo, so combined with the butter it was a little much, so I wiped off some of it. Parking: it's pretty big inside, but parking could be a little better. It's not a big issue to park and walk a few more feet though. Price: cheappppp. You will be okay to hit this place a few times for lunch. Keep in mind, a few others are hitting this place too. It was crowded but a steady flow of people.
