Visiting from out of town, good ol' American traditional cozy mom and pop shop feel. Food was good & came out fast! Every table was full so clearly a local staple.

Great spot for breakfast just south of downtown Clayton. Big portions, reasonable prices and super fast service. I think our food came out within five minutes of ordering. Everything was delicious but the pancakes and Hawaiian toast were highlights. Coffee was also great! Clean and bright interior with lots of bike/motorcycle decor. Leave your politics and attitude behind... this place will gladly refuse to serve you if you're a jerk.

Celiac friendly! If this means anything to you then you know! I called ahead and spoke to the owner Joel. After just a couple of minutes on the phone I knew he understood what it meant to accommodate someone. Upon arrival he spoke to us personally and gave my daughter full confidence that her meal would be safe. Over the last year of trying to navigate celiac we have found eating out to be a super challenge. Today Joel made our visit amazing. All of this aside the food was wonderful! The service was prompt and the atmosphere made us feel like regulars. We will definitely return when we are in the area. Thank you Joel and staff for a wonderful experience.

Went to The Rusty Bike Cafe for brunch today while on an impromptu trip to the mountains. I ordered the #7 (The Three Wheeler) - pancakes, eggs, and sausage. My husband ordered the #3 (Roadster) - Country Fried Steak, gravy, eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit. Everything was really good! Pancakes were delicious, but HUGE!!!

I and my family stopped here on our way back from NC for summer vacation and enjoyed it!! The hash browns, are TO DIE FOR!! They are perfectly crispy on the top and as you continue eating the bottom turns into that excellent kind of soft type! I got the breakfast burrito and it was awesome, just like the employees!! They are supper nice and attentive! This place is awesome, very family friendly, and kind of reminds me of my uncles man cave. Overall 10/10 will visit again if we're in the area!!

We made a last minute decision to try them for Breakfast during our last morning in Clayton, and SO glad we did. We arrived to a 10-15 minute wait, but were offered instant seating at the bar which we took advantage of. The Owner, Joel, was putting together place settings near us and handed us menus. I ordered "The Trike" and my wife had a biscuit and gravy. Food arrived in about 10 minutes and was absolutely delicious. About twice the hash browns you get at WH, two eggs, 2 strips of bacon, and a large freshly baked biscuit with butter and strawberry jam. We both enjoyed our meal. While we were at the bar, Joel was chatting with us and he was a pleasure to converse with. He told us about some of the other breakfast options and gave us both a sample of his wife's Apple Cinnamon cake, which was excellent. The atmosphere is definitely that of a small mountain town. We felt right at home and enjoyed looking at some of the trinkets and decals scattered around our area. Highly suggest you give them a try!

Food, service and if you are up for some sarcasm, sit at the bar ha. Soo much food that we decided to wait for supper before eating again. Corned beef hash done perfectly.

I noticed the window sign said "Angie's Clayton Cafe" and whilst being seated at 11:45AM on Tuesday June 2, 2026, noted the wall art had changed, no more local memorabilia, and the menu is now a well worn, two sheet pieces of copy paper. No problem, the place was nearing capacity per usual and we did get a window seated table. But, then I noticed, no collard greens on the menu. So, if you read my earlier reviews, you will note that I have eaten at quite a few "meat and three" style country diners and that I also know how to cook this food at home. That's a big qualifier, because Clayton Cafe had become a part of our destination trip to Clayton from Greenville, SC. It was just that good, a notch above the crowd. I didn't find this experience to be the same. The decor, service, ambiance was the same. Even the same crowd starting a 15 minute table wait shortly after noon. Business has not suffered, but the food is not the same. Overall, everything was less flavorful, more bland. The highlight, the white sawmill gravy was piping hot and flowed well, not a gloopy mess and I like that it was served on the side. The country fried steak was tender, but it had less crunch on the crust and was significantly bland - pepper and salt please. The green beans had a small chunk of meat involved, but they too were very bland and lacked a depth of flavor expected from the hamhock, the biscuit was good, but not the buttery crusty biscuit if yore. The okra was straight up flour breading with no cornmeal in the mixture and that's a game changer on this dish. Fried chicken was good. Squash, or squash casserole was a bland mess and left uneaten. Don't get me wrong. This three star rating means "OK". It's still a good meat and three. It's just not an exceptional meat and three as experiences my multiple prior visits. So that's when I asked the server if the restaurant had changed owners and yes, in April 2026. Well, there ya go, but Bon Chance to the new owners and Godspeed towards the hard work and keeping it going. Obviously, a full house lunch crowd on a Tuesday in June shows positive momentum. I'm just saying, pay attention to flavor, both in depth and complexity, to make these Southern standards stand out from the meat and three crowd.

The meat and three along with the vegetable only options are welcomed changes to the family style only meal for those desiring smaller portions. In our experience, the food was served hot and was perfectly prepared. We chose white meat chicken and received two large breast that were excellent! The two catfish fillets and four slices of meat loaf were delicious. The vegetables were Lima beans, cabbage casserole, creamed corn, potatoes au gratin, slaw and a spring salad. All were served fresh with two biscuits and two corn muffins. The relish, apple butter and Sogrum-sage butter were delightful. We were blessed to have April for our server, and highly recommend her for your visit. She shared the history of the area and is proud of the changes and history of the Dillard House. Thank you for a great meal. The fried chicken is better than I remembered. Yes, the restaurant is open, and parts of the motel are being remodeled/updated and the new hotel is under construction. Don't let the remodeling deter you from the eating at the restaurant or enjoying your favorite drink from the bar.

Say for 15 minutes before the manager had to obtain a server for our table. After the food was delivered, the server did not provide adequate service. I requested a water refill, which took an additional 15 minutes, because she continually forgot. Food quality wasn't the greatest. They served chicken, which consisted of 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks. Along with friend catfish filets, that had been way over salted. Both were very soggy. I ate half the thigh and quit. Veggies? Only vegetables were Lima beans, everything else considered vegetables, was a casserole. A table full of starches. Over rated and over priced. Sadly disappointed. If you want good southern food, go further south to Thomasville, GA. Go to O'Neals. You can fool some folks, but not someone that knows southern cooking. We won't return.

No auction items. Nothing. The only thing remotely "tournament‑like" was the fee they charged. And let's be clear: this wasn't even a fundraiser for a cause. It was "bring your own tiles, sit with your friends, play in our room, and we'll serve you a fair‑to‑mediocre lunch"--a lunch that, as the owner proudly announced, didn't even include a basic cookie for dessert. Stunning. Then came the final insult. My friend's mother, who couldn't attend, had spent two weeks calling and requesting a refund. Repeatedly denied and given the run around. Only after persistent pressure did they begrudgingly offer a food‑only gift certificate--not merchandise--though maybe, possibly, someday, at some undefined later date, they might let her use it in the store. Maybe. But not today. What on earth was this event. I genuinely felt like I had stepped into an alternate universe where professionalism, integrity, and basic hospitality had been outlawed.
