If you're on 70 in Missouri, you've seen the billboard - best Punjabi food! Exit 148! - and thought to yourself "no way, self. Indian food in the middle of THIS part of the world?!" Well, I'm here to tell you: get off at exit 148 and prepare to have your mind blown. The food is amazing. Well-spiced, the naan is fresh, the biryani magical, and everyone is nice. The restaurant itself is a food truck attacked to a giant car port, housed under a giant yellow tent. This sounds weird, but as my photos will show, it's actually incredible. We were there on a grubby 45° February day and you'd hardly know it, chowing down in there on the brightly colored picnic tables atop a well manicured lawn of artificial grass, as trucker after trucker came through to pick up their food. The experience was sublime. You'll discover plenty of unique places to eat out there in this big weird world, and one day I hope you'll find yourself under a yellow tent in the middle of a parking lot full of idling big rigs eating samosas across from someone you're happy to drive across Missouri with, because it's these small joys that make eating your way through life so meaningful. read more

This is 5 star for a truck stop food truck! Actually found the place thanks to Yelp! We were driving home from Columbia MO and needed foods so stopped in. Be aware that you have to drive by the truck stop and this place is right before the Days Inn. They have a metal awning over several tables with astroturf over the ground. Food is cooked to order so don't expect it to be super fast. We ordered chicken korma and chicken tiki masala. Both were very good although I liked korma more. A little spicy for us but they can make it spicier if desired. They gave us extra rice to go for our leftovers which was really nice. They do not have restrooms so plan accordingly. :-) read more

INSANELY AMAZING FOOD. I over ate and wish I had another stomach to keep eating. My chicken korma was creamy flavorful and sooo delicious. My husband got chicken curry extra spicy. Great homey flavors. The mix paratha was great and perfectly cooked. I'm coming here everytime I need to pass this exit for travel. Serendipity. Driving east and saw a billboard for this place. I had zero expectations. Passed the McDonald's and the truck stop, and, like an oasis, there's an adorable food truck with an attached enclosed carport...Punjab Covet. The inside is cute and sparsely decorated. There is ample seating inside and outside. And it's immaculately clean. There's a giant menu, and, if you're lucky, a lovely Indian guy (customer) from Seattle who's visiting his girlfriend, to help you identify what you like. The service was delightful. The man who took my order (the owner?) was so warm and friendly. He was happy to answer questions, and you just feel joy interacting with him. I had the vegetable samosas, cheese and garlic naan, and madkai chicken to go. Also, the chai! Everything was packaged so carefully--that was so impressive. No chance of any kind of in-car disaster. But more the that, so much flavor. The samosas were so tasty and I got chutney and some other sauce--both so delicious. The naan was so light, delicate, and fresh. The garlic and cheese combo was an excellent choice. I'd never had madkai chicken before--the sauce is flavored with onion, green peppers, and surely a blend of who knows how many spices. I had it medium heat, which was perfect, as I could enjoy the heat and the flavors. The chicken was perfectly tender and there was a lot of it. Not a bone in the bowl. I'm so glad I got it instead of something I'd had at other places in the past. The masala chai was so smooth and piping hot, the perfect foil for this damn 28-deg weather. I also got to try to seasonal coffee, which I'll order on my way west Sun morning. Totally unexpected to have such an incredible culinary experience in Kingdom City. They were doing a brisk business on a Wed just before 7:00, so I'm not the only one who thinks Punjab Covet is the place to eat as you careen across mid-MO. Don't pass this one up. read more

First of all, this is a food truck that serves Indian food, so there is not much ambiance. They have a tent cover over the dining area during the winter months. Food is tasty, authentic Indian. Really good food and great customer service. This is just a food truck so do not expect to be able to sit inside. I feel like they are catering to the 18 wheeler community. They did have 2 picnic tables though which worked great for my family. The Chicken Tikka Masala was incredibly rich and creamy. I cannot help but feel like they melted a stick of butter in it, but that is not a complaint. There was a great portion of chicken The lamb biryani was really good. They did not skimp on the raita. The Vegetable Samosas were pretty good as well. They did not ask about spice level and I really wish I would have asked them to make everything at least medium. Everything was very mild, but I am also a 35 year old white guy so they likely just assumed I cannot handle spice. If you kid likes Indian food they will like this place. If you do not know if your kid likes Indian food order some mild Chicken Tikka Masala and Mango Lassi. They will likely enjoy both of those things. They have a large selection of vegetarian options on their menu. There are no steps that would make wheelchair accessibility an issue. The only issue I could see is talking to the people through the window. However I am sure they could easily step out of the trailer to fix that issue. This is located inside of a giant parking lot. You will not have issues finding parking. Overall, I am extremely happy with the food here and will look forward to stopping next time I drive through Kingdom City. read more

I was passing through the area and saw their billboard on the interstate. It's a food truck. I ordered the butter chicken. 4/5 stars for the taste. 5/5 for the portion size. The guy at taking orders didn't seem very friendly, but he was very helpful. I can tell they put a lot of effort into making the outdoor dining area comfortable. Raj was happy to serve me, and I'm impressed when I mentioned the lamb and he had to say that they were out of lamb, but then mentioned goat as a substitute. Very smart! I also asked him if he offered military discount and he said that he'd offer a free drink and while I only wanted water, he insisted that I get the lemon drink too and I decided to follow his suggestion and commended me for my service. Agree with prior reviews! Delicious, fresh and hot. As spicy as you want it to be. The chicken saag was abundant and flavorful with long grain rice. (I could only finish half.) Chicken thigh meat was tender and good. The veggie samosas were excellent as was the mint cilantro chutney. Hope to stop here again! read more

Thankfully finally something different in Callaway county dining scene. Compared to everything else in the kingdom City area this looks like the Taj mahal! The rest of Kingdom City is pretty darn gross so please visit this very pleasant man that cooked us a delicious Indian meal and for that matter try some Indian food it's better for you than American crap. read more

We were driving on I-70 westbound and saw a billboard. So glad we stopped. Kingdom City, exit 148. Don't be put off that it is a food truck, go down the first road--about a block, near the Days Inn. The food is fresh and delicious. The mango lassi was fresh and tasty. We had vegetable korma, roti, and pakoras. All excellent. As good as the best Indian restaurants we've visited and better than most! They have two clean picnic tables under a cute covered awning. Service, top notch! read more

There aren't too many pictures to guide you through The ambiance, well it's a food truck in the middle of a huge parking lot. You get to meet a lot of different people traveling through. I'm a local and have meet a lot of Indian people that stop by, a couple traveling from Canada, a blogger who was traveling around plus I have seen different nationalities that stop by It's fun and secure place to seat and have a meal or just to order and take home. My favorite meal is Buttered Chicken and Naans, I got to admit that I have tried most of them now, not disappointed The Mango Lassy and Chai Tea are excellent choices either on Summertime or a Winter Day read more
