Always Reliable! We have ordered from Pubjab Palace a couple of times before and the food is always delicious. Pre-covid indoor dining was also great. Aloo Gobhi: Really delicious and flavorful! A good balance to other spicy dishes. Lamb Curry: Lamb is really juicy, but the curry itself is a bit thin. Saag Paneer: Really flavorful, but less creamy compared to other places. Nevertheless, one of my favorites here! Chicken Tikka Masala: My favorite from Punjab Palace! Super creamy and well-balanced with sweetness and spice. Bhindi Masala: The okra is really fresh, yet has a deep flavor like you'd get from the brown bits on the bottom of a cast-iron pan after frying chicken. Tomatoes add a nice zest to lighten the dish up while the okra and onions themselves bring a nice sweetness. Mango Lassi: You can't place an order without a mango lassi! I've been coming here since college and had the chance to stop in again today. This was my introduction to Indian food, and I'm so grateful that it set my standard for it. The tikka masala of any kind is amazing. Today we ordered chicken and seafood masalas as well as chicken biryani and garlic naan. The masalas were excellent. The naan was more on the soft doughy side than crispy, but was actually filled with garlic chunks and very flavorful. The biryani chicken was a little dry but also very good. I would say that the must-order dish here is any of the masalas. The restaurant itself is very clean and well decorated and they play cheerful Bollywood MVs on the tv. My bf lived in Boston for 5 years and has raved about this place to me ever since. So of course we had to get takeout on the first night of our Boston trip! We kept it simple with two orders of butter chicken (one mild, one medium) and some garlic naan. It was all delicious and the portions were generous. They also did a great job getting the level of heat right - my mild was just the perfect amount of spicy! The only reason I'm taking one star off of the review is because I'm pretty sure the red onion chutney gave my bf food poisoning. It was the one thing he'd eaten all day that I hadn't, and he said it was kind of warm and funky. I also ordered Channa Masala and it was very well done, with an almost a buttery flavor to it. The only issue is I accidentally ordered two Channa Masalas (obviously my error) and wish I would have tried something else. Fortunately it tasted so good I'm happy to have more tomorrow. Service was average and there's plenty of tables inside to accomodate different group sizes. 1. Mango Lassi - Mango, milk, sugar. Enough said, so good and not too sweet. Would be great in the summer as well. 2. Tandoori chicken - 3.7/5. Came out sizzling with a bunch of red/green peppers and onions. Came with rice and cucumber yogurt. This was big enough to split into two meals for me. The chicken itself was a bit dry but very flavorful and mildly spicy. Overall, I'll come back to try other things on the menu. I came to Punjab Palace with my roommate to celebrate Diwali. When we arrived, the place was fairly crowded but we managed to grab the last open table. Not only did we come on Diwali but we came right at dinner rush - I noticed several take-out orders being picked up and several delivery orders being made. Parking was tricky - as it's right off Comm Ave. So if you can get here without a car, all the better reason to come! We ordered two appetizers to share and two main dishes to split. The names of the appetizers escape me now but one was a dumpling with potato inside and the other was spinach and cheese. Both were delicious! For our entrees, we shared one order of chicken tikka masala and one spinach and cheese vegetable dish. We ordered both "spicy" and they delivered the heat! My roommate is Indian and even her mouth was on fire. The flavors were amazing once we ordered a side of yogurt to cool down our palates. The basmati rice was perfect and the side order of garlic naan brought the whole meal together. Amazing food, but be warned: if you ask for spicy, they will deliver. Weve been ordering delivery from this place for a long time and its always delicious. However, first time today that we ordered pick-up. I was Very disappointed how they handle their Covid safety. None of the staff wear gloves at all. Taking cards and not washing hands after. They aren't wearing gloves and one of the guy who handles food doesn't wear mask. I had to ask him why he is not wearing mask and he gave me a dirty look. A lot of customers waiting for their orders saw this. There was only one person who I saw washed their hands after handling a food. Later I found that he is the owner. I informed him what I saw and he apologize. A++ service. On a Thursday night, we were the only patrons of Punjab Palace and the level of service was phenomenal. Case in point: my man only took a sip of water and I didn't even touch my glass. After we ordered, both our glasses had water refilled nearly to the brim. My man and I looked at each other funny. Throughout dinner, we had at least 3 different waiters ask how we were finding the food. The experience here is 150% different than our time at Brookline's Shan-A-Punjab restaurant. Appetizer Rec: ++Garlic naan- homemade bread stuffed with fresh garlic and spices. Ohhh you will definitely taste the garlic my friends. Great for dipping with curry. It comes out piping hot! Entree Recs: ++Chicken tikka masala-white tandoori boneless chicken cooked in tomatoes and creamy sauce. If you're a spice fan, don't go for medium. Medium won't be hot enough for you :) ++Lamb curry-cubes of lamb cooked with onions, tomatoes, fresh ginger, garlic and spices. Lamb was fantastic, liked it better than the chicken since it was less dry. Atmosphere is on the fancier side with a bar, flowers on the table, and the place dimly lit. I came here hoping for a good Indian meal but was very disappointed. I ordered Dal, Aloo Gobi and Bhaingan Bharta. The dal (lentil soup) was so watered down that it was literally just yellow hot water, thin and tasteless. I don't know how any restaurant could serve water where soup was ordered and stay in business. Regarding the bhaingan bharta, the texture of the eggplant was soft and fluffy which was fine, but it was not that flavorful--overall sweet and a bit sour, but bland, and included almost no coriander leaves. The aloo gobi was actually decent, thankfully. Not the best but adequately spiced and pretty good. The portions of the 2 main dishes were rather small however, and the restaurant was not prepared to serve an UNsweetened lassi. All things considered, 1 star is deserved. This time I ordered Chili paneer[spice level - hot] and I had to throw it all away. The curry is super sweet with no flavor at all. Its like they put paneer in ketchup and the rice is half burnt. I ordered take out from here the other day. I got my go to chicken vindaloo - medium spicy. The curry was flavorful, but wasn't spicy at all. The portion size is good as they do give you a full pint of curry unlike some other Indian places. Perhaps the most disappointing part of the meal was the naan. Tried this place finally for the first time and I'm fairly impressed. I went for lunch and got all this food for $22 so the price is right! I ordered the Veggie korma and it was pretty yummy, not as creamy or nutty as it should be, but definitely pretty darn close! I tried the chicken tikka masala and it was OK.... honestly a little too pizza saucey for my taste personally but definitely not bad. The star of everything was surprisingly the rice! It's so fragrant and amazing and made everything taste good! Definitely will be back for more korma and I want to try the coconut korma as well. But overall for the price, the amount of food and the flavor this place is awesome. I recommend and will be back for more! I've had delivery during COVID twice, and each time, the delivery person was generous to call me when they dropped off the food. They do have garlic chicken! It's delicious!
