Goat curry - not very rich or flavorful
    Alison G.

Pakoras we're not hot nor crispy. Just soggy. Goat curry was not very rich or flavorful. Beautiful mural on the wall. Very loud annoying music.

I stayed in Tijuana a couple of nights so I was happy to find this place with vegetarian options. The restaurant seems to be South Asian owned and the food I ordered was delicious. The ambiance was casual and quaint. My experience with the service was a bit odd for me, though. The main person who attended me (might have been the owner or manager) didn't seem too approachable or inviting. He was rather short to answer the few questions I asked about items on the menu, so I felt rushed or like I was an inconvenience of some sort. Also, even though I spoke in Spanish (I am native speaker), he would answer me in English, which felt odd since I was in Mexico (and he would speak to other workers in Spanish). I imagine the restaurant caters to many English speaking Americans as TJ is by the US/Mexico border, so this is probably not unusual, but this component felt odd as other restaurants in TJ do not automatically do this. Perhaps there was a cultural difference, but the service part could improve.

    Vegetable samosas with chutney

Had been craving Indian for a while and I got my fix. I have to say the samosas were good even better with the chutney, a little disappointed they weren't spicy though. As for the tikka masala it was the perfect amount of hot. You can pick how spicy you want it from a 1-10. I got the 5 and it was perfect! Highly recommend you guys trying this place out.

There is just one Indian restaurant in Tijuana. Fortunately, Punjabi Restaurant is very good! Located in an inconspicuous stripmall, this locally-popular place is a good choice for lunch or dinner, with a traditional menu full of tasty delights. Lots of people order take away. I had a late lunch at Punjabi last week. The Aloo Gobi Mater was delicious. Spicy by American standards, but delicious never-the-less. The food arrived fresh and hot, and I enjoyed every bite. The staff was pleasant but not overly engaged. That made the experience feel a bit more formal than it needed to be. But this is a minor complaint. I definitely will dine again at Punjabi in the future.

My husband and I had been craving Indian food but where in the heck were we going to find Indian food in Tijuana? I did a google search and low and behold Thai little gem popped up. I was so excited that we left and went straight to the restaurant only to be saddened because it was Monday and they are closed on Monday's. We didn't forget the little spot though and we came back! I'm so glad we did. Let's begin with the parking. It's a parking lot and it's paid parking. I think we paid 5 pesos or 6 pesos. That's like .25 cents or .30 cents. No big deal. There's ample parking all over the place and the restaurant shares the parking with other little places and also a big place called Sam's Club. It's like a little shopping center but the restaurant is right there out in the open. You won't miss it. As soon as we walked in I was snapping photos of the decor. It was absolutely super cool. I was digging the painted elephants and the wooden girl praying with the red dot in the middle of her forehead. The colors were beautiful and their was ample seating area. We chose a booth. The service was impeccable. The first waiter kept coming to the table asking if we were ready and I had to tell him it was our first time and I needed more time to look over the menu and that when we were ready I would call him over. They have specials but since it was my husbands first time experiencing an Indian cuisine I wanted him to really get the feel of it so I ordered 6 platters that we could pick at. Let me tell you, the food was DE-LICIOUS! The chicken tandory was soooo flavorful. I don't recall all the things that we ordered but I took plenty of photos. You MUST order the nan with your meal. Use it like a tortilla and soak up all the goodness. The nan is served a little different then in the states. In the states they give you the whole circle and a little basket with a few of them like that. Here they serve you ONE and they cut it like a quesadilla into 6 pieces. That's probably my only complaint. One nan for 25 pesos they they says is 6. Anyway, we just ordered another one. (The garlic nan is to die for). We had tons of left over food and without hesitation our waiter (who spoke English and Spanish) picked it up for us and even gave us complimentary chai tea on the house so that we could have the full authentic Indian experience. I could drink that chai in the bucket loads! It was AMAZING! Much different then Starbucks chai tea. I highly recommend this little spot. You can do the specials or spend a coin like we did and go all out and order the platters.

I love Indian food and trying new restaurants. Punjabi was nice because they offer all of the standard dishes with flavors slightly different than Indian food from California, USA. It's in a hip area of Tijuana that is well lit with plenty of parking. We ordered the Thali Vegetariano (vegetarian dinner) chicken tandoori, potato samosas, and masala chai. Everything was great. The interior is colorful, clean, and comfortable. It seats about 40. The staff was fast, friendly, and efficient. They speak many languages including English and Spanish. It's great to know where to find great Indian food in Baja. I highly recommend checking this restaurant out.

Sunday-Funday when you eat delicious food! We ordered to go chicken Masala, Tandoori chicken, basmati rice garlic naan and the new Chile naan-this one has a kick to it for those who like spicy, you will like this Naan! 100% recommended real Good food!

    My aunts restaurant. Congrats!

I guess I had posted to the old page.... I'm not a fan of Indian food because I have never even tried the food to become a fan! My aunt had her grand opening yesterday for this restaurant and let me tell you, this Indian restaurant is beautiful inside and out! Everything was simple yet gorgeous. And the food was amazing. I unfortunately can't recall the name of any of the dishes I tried but everything was amazing. I get no service over there (stupid T-Mobile service ) but I was too busy enjoying myself with friends and family to even ask lol. They even offer vegetarian dishes for those vegetarian people out there. You have to try this place! Great food, great service and not to far from the border. I will be back because the food is honestly amazing.

    Tikka Masala

Stopped by with a friend while on a short trip to Tijuana. The taxi drive from the border crossing took about 10 minutes around noon on a weekday. The service was friendly and prompt. The food (Chicken Tikka Masala, Gobi Paratha, Aloo Paratha and Chai) was outstanding. The Chicken Tikka Masala tasted different from most CTMs you get in the USA. The Parathas was stuffed just right and had a great balance of spices. The total for the 2 of us came to around $17, which I thought was very reasonable considering the quantity and quality of food. Highly recommended if you are looking for East Indian food in Tijuana. I will definitely be back.

This is an amazing Indian restaurant but not only the food is awesome but the owner Ramesh is such a great person. Gives your the personal visit and welcomes you with a great smile. The workers are so good too. Always there to provide the service. This was my first time and trust me, I will be brining my friends here soon. My 13 year old son is so fussy with his food but today he ate so much that I had to stop him. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants and loves to try authentic food. I would give it ten stars if they had the option. Love love love this place.

I visited Tijuana for visa stamping at US consulate yesterday. I got a chance to visit this India restaurant for lunch. I liked the foods, especially the Thali and mango lassi. If someone is looking for Indian foods,I would recommend to try this place. Price is affordable.

    Punjabi in our dreams.

Well everyone was right. Woohoo no more tacos for me. A wonderful dining adventure. Much spicier than the American counterpart. We had goat biryani and goat curry. Also had samosas that were ginormous. Garlic naan was also tasty. Strange lemonade but again tasty. We will be back for sure for sure

It was actually quite spicy, and by that, I mean it could probably be 5/10 Thai spicy. It was slightly spicier than I usually prefer, but I could still eat it no problem. Lol Aside from that, all the food was good, but not quite flavorful enough for me to want to give it 5 stars. The umami could still be better, and I also felt that the consistency was a tad thin. I love spicy food, but spicy doesn't always equal. If you've ever been pepper sprayed, you know what I'm talking about. Lol Also, with great goat curry, I've always found the meat to be juicy and tender. Here there were several pieces of meat that were a bit too hard and chewy. For the naan, my ideal naan is huge and slightly crispy. So in addition to the texture, I'm definitely irrationally annoyed that their bread was actually bigger, but they pre-cut them into slices for Americans. The rice and soup were good. I might come back to try other curry, but I'll have to visit other places first.

We brought a large party here for a weekend dinner, having made reservations a week in advance. When we arrived the restaurant was empty and they also didn't have our table ready. After we were seated the restaurant was gradually filling up. There were only three servers working the entire floor with no busser to help them clear tables, refill drinks or run food. I understand that people call out or leave unexpectedly, maybe that's what happened and I can have patience with that. But when a restaurant is that busy and short-staffed, I would expect the manager to step in and help take some of the pressure off the staff and guests. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience. Throughout dinner, our food came out cold. The restaurant was already cool, and there was a large fan directly above us, which made the food get cold even faster. We also had to repeatedly follow up on items we had already requested and waited a while for some basic items. We were understanding and patient because we could see that our server was swamped and doing his best with the circumstances. When the manager finally did come around, we asked him for a few simple things, and each time his response was essentially, "I'll send your server," accompanied by a visibly annoyed attitude, as though we were inconveniencing him by asking. For example, I asked for to-go boxes the manager responded, "I'll send your server." This was already the second time we had heard that response. I was asking him specifically because our server was clearly busy and we had already been waiting for things. It would have taken the manager a few seconds to grab the boxes himself, but instead he chose not to help. Another example was when my husband went up to ask for water because someone at our table needed a refill. We had been there for about an hour and a half without receiving any refills. The manager gave him the same response, and my husband eventually said, "No, I'll just grab it now because we need it." The manager became visibly annoyed by that as well. At that point, I honestly became hesitant about asking for anything because I felt like we were being treated as though our requests were a burden. After dinner we started consolidating plates on our table to make things easier for our server. It felt like we were doing more to support the staff than the manager was. I completely understand being short-staffed. I understand a busy night. I understand mistakes and delays. What I don't understand is a manager standing by while their staff is overloaded and not stepping in to help, especially when guests are asking for very basic things. The only reason I'm giving this place three stars is because of the young man who was our main server while being stretched across the entire restaurant, and his coworker, who was also helpful when she could be.
