Went to Punk Society TWICE In 1 night actually. Loved it! I'm from the Bay so I appreciate a nice diverse crowd and that was here at Punk Society. Music was definitely on point (more Hip Hop than anything). I never heard Punk (at least not on Saturday night). I wanted to sit down an bouncer was hella cool saying I could as long as I didn't stand on the furniture AND I bought drink. NO PROBLEM!!! Definitely look forward to coming back!!! read more

You never really know what kind of "night" you're going to have going out in Deep Ellum. Like you might step into Da-Da on a Friday night and hear grunge but the next night will be Latin. Same story with Drugstore Cowboy. It's like they're always switching it up which gets really confusing when you want to go to a place based on music alone. Punk Society is small, dark and has the worst photo booth in Dallas. The drinks are weak and there's more seating than places to dance. But I can vibe with Punk because of the three points below. 1. The music is always consistent. Whether its Friday or Saturday, if you want to hear hip hop, then you're going to hear hip hop. You don't have to second guess the tunes because there's a Comic-Con fest in town. 2. Relatively clean bathrooms. Sure, there are only about 4 WC's total but they always seem to be tidy. 3. Girls run the WORLD. A few words of advice...if you're a woman and you're about 2-3 lades deep, the bouncer will let you skip the lines. Typically this will happen anywhere in Dallas but it happens on the regular at PS. The lines don't get too crazy but when it does, this tactic comes in handy. It's a nightmare when it's packed, but there's a couple of cool incentives about this place. A bit of a younger crowd but you'll manage. To sum it all up, Punk Society is a slightly sophisticated hip-hop club with a mixed crowd. It's a good time as long as you take it for what it is. More of a 3.5 establishment but I'm feeling gracious. read more

This is a bad club to visit. They do not have any walking or standing space. The bouncers work incredibly hard to keep the non-existent walk ways clear so you're shoved into corners. I think the capacity of the club should be no more than 50-60 people. Bottom line: save your time and don't visit this place. read more

Nothing "Punk" about this place. That was my fault. I was expecting a different scene and music.

We came here for a friend's birthday and there was no problem getting in around 11pm. No line, no crowd. We had bottle service at a corner table and the service was pretty typical. This place tries to be high-end but doesn't quite get there. The dress was of a wide variety and the inside not too large. It was nice that we had one of the few tables though as it did get crowded later on and the line outside grew as well. It was a Saturday night and the DJ was pretty good. He did shun a few of our requests but then again, most DJs in this environment do not take requests. One great thing about bottle service was the goodies they gave you, including glow sticks and light up wands. They were a hit and definitely attracted attention to our group. We did have the table that was next to the stairs to the bathroom so next time I would prefer a different location. Otherwise, it was a fun night and I look forward to the next one! read more

EXTREMELY Insecure bouncers got offended by me saying he didn't look like a bouncer when he never greeted us. There was no line so I walked to the door and started peering my self in, and he wanted to act like the tony Montana of deep ellum! Total jerk not deserving of a job. Someone should really take ownership of the face of this business and try to improve but like all the similar reviews here mine will be ignored by management. After showing him another girl in the bar with similar shorts, he said "I don't want to discuss this with you." He didn't have the courage to tell us it was due to our SIZE. I absolutely LOVED Punk Society. It's located in Deep Ellum along with many other bars along the street. was recommended to come here on a Sunday night by a couple people. I'm not from town and had no idea places could be so full and lively on Sundays. If you're into hip hop and looking for a fun spot in Dallas, this is the bar for you. I came in around 11:30pm on a Sunday. There was a short line but if you're a girl you can just walk to the front. Graffiti and photo frames all along the walls and ceilings. The drinks are decently priced and the DJ was really good. Friendly, attentive bartenders. Again, very packed and groups of people even getting bottle service...ON A SUNDAY MAY I STRESS AGAIN. Still blows my mind. It's really dark inside but it's not that big of a bar so it's easy to navigate around. I highly recommend if you're looking to turn up on a Sunday to good hip hop music. Sunday nights are my jam...popping bottles like a fool. In today's magic club World acting rich is more accepted then acting cool. So basically every time our neighbor booth would order one bottle I would order three just to prove a point. The only points proven was I spent my mortgage payment & now my Netflix won't work. The girls working here are on point the smell of fire crackers & Christian Dior perfume loft in the air. Pretty gals & there talented dance partner don perignon. The vibe & energy is rich!!!! Dj is lit just like dem sparklers. I've approached my squad & we def need to learn bottle service etiquette. 'Twas like a mosh pit with my homies. Looked like a hot mess to all the onlookers. Pants on the ground, tweaking going round & round. We was busted just like all the glasses on the floor. I'm so sorry to all the bar backs & security that had to babysit us for 2 hours. This place is a JOKE! I won't even spend too much time writing about it. Simply put, it is way too crowded and not in a good way, the people inside are low class and trashy, drinks are poorly made, and the staff is rude. Even if you purchase a table, they allow the neighboring tables to cram their guests into one table, so they end up overflowing to your area. Dirty, trashy, low class place! If I could rate zero or negative, I would. I prefer cleaner places that practice a well and respectful business establishment - which usually attracts better clientele. read more

I personally don't like big cubby places but I wondered here because of a bday party one day. I have been here before from past bdays and it is always super packed and so hard to get around. It is also really really hard to get in on busy nights unless you are a only girl, a group of girls, or you buy an expensive table. But hey, I mean that's every bar/club really. Last time I came, it wasn't too hard to order drinks and the music is pretty good. If you like very crowded places, thats super dark to the point you can't see, to just dance and barely move, this is a good place for that. The bar/club is medium to small in size. The interior is kind of cool because of all the picture frames and the rotating belt on the ceiling. It kind of looks like a circus or clown theme or maybe a scary doll(?) I can't really describe it. Came here for a round for my friend's birthday this weekend and left because there is no room to dance. Especially annoyed to see my receipt a day later - they include a 20% gratuity on their checks then leave a line for tip (note, not additional tip). While I'll acknowledge I should have looked at it more closely in the moment, it seems to be a shady business practice for a bar / nightclub where patrons are quickly getting drinks. They only let a certain type of people in and the black bouncer was extremely they let in some people in for free then let other people cut the line and the other bouncer didn't know what he was doing. XTC cabaret probably has better customer service which doesnt take much. A guy saw as I walked away from the club told me it is where drug dealers make deals which is probably why they dont let anyone which wouldn't surprise me. I had an overall nice time here. The bouncers were all really nice as were the bartenders, however the prices of the drinks are crazy! I had 2 whiskey cokes and a shot of fireball...$40.00. I went for the first time last night and had nothing but fun! The bartender I ordered drinks from was pretty quick and actually attentive/sweet. It was nice seeing her have a good time while doing her job right! The drinks aka (mixed) shots usually range between $7-10! Some people might think $10 for a Vegas bomb is pricey but the place was nice and poppin' when we went so it was worth it! The place is basically a club with awesome music and the bar is in the very center which made it easily acceptable even if it's a full house. Just a tip! One of the better places that kills with hip hop vibes. Getting drinks is very easy here. Most people are pretty cool about letting you slide by. But the music is best on Saturday for all you hip hoppers that enjoy good dance offs with randoms or just want to lose yourself with a date. Munch grinding and shots can be made here at punk society. I work here and live in Deep Ellum .. the negative reviews are virtually the same experience you're going to get anywhere in downtown Dallas. It's going to be crowded, drinks aren't cheap, and don't be surprised if you have to wait in line if your ass shows up after midnight. Security is aggressive because people are oblivious and staff needs to get around to serve ALL its patrons. Keep in mind 95% of people who write negative reviews can't be pleased. Find yourself a upper class dive bar in the shops of legacy if this is you, you'll fit in there. read more

Initially I had a great time here. Came with a Caucasian friend which I came to discover was my ticket in. My second visit here I came with only African American friends and I quickly realized that this place is absolutely RACIST! They made us wait in a separate line for about 5-10 minutes while they let in other non-African Americans who came after us. Finally they came to us and made a weak attempt at saying that it was "industry night". The bouncer said we had to be on a "list" that he did not have in his hand. I will NEVER come this place again! my experience was far from delightful. Thank goodness for friends. Security was half the crowd,aggressively flashing lights in our face because we couldn't stand and block the walk way- even though there was literally no where else to go. Went to Punk Society for a friends birthday. Unfortunately, my partner and I do not really go out to the party scene often. But when we do, we make sure we enjoy every moment of it. Punk Society is a really nice club, the DJ played a great selection of music. Drinks were a little pricey, however you get what you pay for! The only thing I would change about this venue is the size. I really wish it was bigger and had a patio that people could go to, to get some fresh air and socialize. This place is a fuckin joke now. The dj is usually jamming but the bouncers only purpose seems to be to keep everyone 5ft away from the sections, which are all always empty. Don't waste your time unless you just need a meeting spot to wait on the rest of your party. This is the only place in deep ellum that is apparently on some sort of high horse looking down on everyone scoffing. Several times walking past I saw people getting turned away because they aren't Swaggy enough to get in the place with the door guy exclaiming that deep ellum is changing and you can't dress comfortably anymore mean while he's in jeans that have seen better days with a wrinkled untucked half buttoned collared shirt with no tie. Went here back when this place first opened and had an amazing time. Great music, good vibe and drinks. Not the case anymore. Last night I was having some drinks in uptown with a group of friends and convinced them we should go there since I had previously had such a good time. They agreed to try it so we headed down to Deep Ellum. Once we got there we were 'greeted' by the bouncer - not really greeted so much as ignored and just stared at. The bouncers just talked among themselves while we asked if we could go in - completely disregarding us as if we didn't exist. I could understand this if it were some douchey nightclub in uptown (not hating on uptown - I live there and love it) or somewhere else but not in Deep Ellum. Maybe because it was 4 guys and 1 girl at the time, but we had 4 more girls on the way, who they did let in after we had already left to go to the green room - once they realized they hadn't let us in they left immediately and came to green room also. Anyway, we won't even think about going back to this place again. That attitude doesn't belong in Deep Ellum. At the door of the green room they welcomed us in saying 'all you need is an ID and a smile to get in here' - that's more like it. read more

I don't know what we're yelling about!!! You've got to have something be your theme... Why not "punk" I guess? But other than the celebrity pictures on the wall with middle fingers painted on them, the overall feel is thankfully not too rebellious and angry (the name itself whiffs of irony anyway). It's really just your average dark warehouse-turned-bar that would look completely different with the lights on. To me it's a little reminiscent of a bar/club you'd find on lower Greenville in 2009, with maybe a little extra schtick thrown in. The bar is in the middle to maximize surface area, making the limiting factor to get your drink bartender speed rather than your ability to elbow in. That's not a bad deal seeing as the place was happening but not too crowded during what I'd expect to be peak hours. There's a fun (albeit gimmicky) magic mirror thing on the wall in the corner. It seems set up for bottle service, but it wasn't being utilized when we were there. I think it was designed to be a little more swanky than it has found itself to be. No bouncer, no line, no "uptown types". It's a club with really nothing that unique about it, but it's worth a stop for a more "clubby" vibe in the area without any associated hassle. Come be a punk. This place is only good if you are having a girls night otherwise don't go there. Girls get priority witch is cool but if for guys, they'll only let in whoever pays more and the bouncer is rude about it. read more
