The following year, I contacted them again about adopting another kitten, but my message was left unanswered. In July 2023, Oddi was diagnosed with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy when she went in for a nasal rhinoplasty to open up her narrow airways. Two weeks later, Oddi passed away when the doctors were waiting for her to wake up from anesthesia after her suture removal. Her heart stopped, and she fell into seizures and a coma after she was resuscitated. I reached out to them again to let them know what happened. Sadly, they did not respond. I am disappointed with them. It seems they were only responsive when they wanted me to purchase a kitten from them in 2020. It seems the website is down and social media has not been updated for a few years. In my experience, a responsible breeder offers support and stays in contact for life. This is not the case with the folks at Phoenix Persians. I spoke with some Persian breeders recently, and she confirmed this is not ethical behavior on their part.

When I finally said, okay hey look you're talking to COLTEN. The guy that owns those dogs. She hung up. I called the owner or supervisor whatever she was, and explained what had happened. She tried to tell me that's not how they operate and yada yada but then I never heard anything back from them. I'm not sure why they have such good ratings. They might have some situations they help and good for them. But if you want to KNOW where your dog goes because you love and care, stay away. I called in as soon as they opened to see if the beautiful kitten was still available and although I was hoping to meet him that same day, they were not able to accommodate me until the next morning- which was fine by me. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff, got to take a look around the rescue and see some of their other pets. Brambley Hedge is a no-kill, non-profit rescue, open since 1986. Their intakes are from other…read morerescue agencies only and while they do not accept any rabbits from the public, their rabbits are adoptable to those looking for an adorable fluffy friend. I initially had contact with them when my first bunny, a sweet and super chill Netherland dwarf, passed away and my widower bunny gal needed a companion. We did a few speed dates with bunny bachelors from both Brambley Hedge and Tranquility Trail and while I liked both rescues, my little lady got along best with a headstrong Angora mix from Tranquility Trail. Fast forward to the present day. The wildlife rescue where I volunteer at received a pet rabbit someone had brought in, found outside in the Phoenix area with a badly broken leg. It had appeared to be an old injury. In working and volunteering with rescues you see a lot of animal neglect and cruelty. Imagine the type of person you'd have to be to keep a bunny that has a painful looking broken leg with exposed bone for that long with no medical care, and then dump it outside in the middle of an Arizona summer unable to care for itself nor move around fully. I contacted Brambley Hedge who responded swiftly. They were able to take the little fellow in and have one of the vets they work with examine him. The staff and I were very grateful they were able to welcome him to their rescue. Thanks for all you do for the little bunny folk, Brambley Hedge! That bunny boy hopefully can have a speedy recovery and have a chance to find the loving home he deserves.
