We were having dinner when the topic of adding a new kitty came up. I did an online search and found a precious kitty not too far away. We raced over to the shelter and arrived right before closing. CJ was so helpful. We were able to see two precious kitties. She adopted them the next day. They are definitely keeping their mama busy and bringing joy to her life. If you are looking to add an animal to your family, I cannot recommend this shelter enough. Staff was friendly and the process was easy.

Fabulous staff, ultra clean facility, and the adoption process is so well organized and seamless. I couldn't be happier. I recommend Halo to all! I plan to even volunteer my time there.

I recently had to euthanize a wonderful dog and swore no more. But my other dog was extremely depressed. I found Halo on line and found a couple of dogs that might work for us. I had a wonderful experience with the adoption process...the 2 young ladies were helpful and seemed to know the dogs well. I came home with Granola (now Zac) and now, 4 days later, he is fitting in very well. He really didn't need a place to decompress, started eating immediately. He appears to be housebroken and wants to be with me all the time. And after one or 2 corrections from my older dog, he now respects the boundaries. I am absolutely thrilled. For me, he's about the perfect dog

After nearly 20 years since hubby and I lived with cats, we felt ready to open our home and hearts to a little critter. We were just living our lives and didn't want to take on the responsibility for an animal during all that time. I came across the familiar HALO name during my research and took a chance with a visit last month. Hubby, kids, and I made the schlep across town to potentially meet our newest family member. This location was tucked a bit back in the complex. If you see the Denny's and Angry Crab Shack, then you are in the right place. In preparation for this visit, I completed their questionnaire on their website and sent it by email. No one ever asked me about it during the entire visit and there are forms to fill out that had the same questions that I answered days prior by email. I think it's safe to say to not bother completing the questionnaire by email to save some time. It was a long visit with a lot of waiting. It was worth the wait as we did end up taking home a kitten. I felt all the staff was vested in making sure each animal was the right fit for potential forever families and while they take your completed paperwork, they also counsel you at the same time to try to set you up for success once home. They will disclose any current or past illnesses and special needs as it arises. I wanted to wait for some time to pass before leaving a review to make sure there were no issues. We did end up renaming our cat and took him to a vet for a wellness exam soon after the adoption. He is perfectly healthy and has adjusted to his new family quickly. Our family is now complete thanks to HALO. Thank you staff and volunteers for all the good work you do. Some tips: Check out their website for their current list of all animals. They update frequently so check back often. If there is one that catches your interest, you can try calling ahead to see if they are still there before making the trip. Bring ALL of your family members living in your household. If you are serious about completing the adoption during your visit, it's important to see if the animal is compatible with everyone. This can also uncover previously unknown allergies to animals if a family member has it. You don't want to bring home an animal and learn they aren't compatible or if a family member has allergies to them and then having to go through the hassle of returning it. That is cruel and a waste of everyone's time.

The first day I decided to stop in to see the little dogs I was very excited. I can't remember the man that helped me but he was doing a excellent job I feel bad because I can't remember his name but he is doing a excellent job at Halo I'm so glad that he got to work with me. I adopted Jet he is a Chihuahua I want to say he's mix but I changed his name to Bruno I didn't understand why they named him Jet but after seeing Bruno run through the house so fast then we all was like oh that's why they named you Jet my grandkids love to see him run fast the 2:year old granddaughter said Bruno is crazy but she loves him and he's so good with the kids some times he gives me this look like mother get your grandkids

While doing so, she told me that were coming to get my animals today and that they were going to a foster, but not to tell me that when they came because they told me they had a family and they just want to get my animals from me, once they do that they were going to just block me. When I finally said, okay hey look you're talking to COLTEN. The guy that owns those dogs. She hung up. I called the owner or supervisor whatever she was, and explained what had happened. She tried to tell me that's not how they operate and yada yada but then I never heard anything back from them. I'm not sure why they have such good ratings. They might have some situations they help and good for them. But if you want to KNOW where your dog goes because you love and care, stay away. I happened to come across a photo of a little guy named Fritz and I knew the moment I saw the picture; this would be my new little buddy. When I clicked on the picture it directed me to the ABC site. From doing my research, I came to realize that ABC is not one of those shelters that just hands dogs over to anyone asking. They take their time to ensure their dogs are being placed into the right environment for each dogs individual needs. This is a positive in my books because the last thing any dog lover would want is for someone to bring a new pet into their home only to have it returned back into a shelter because it wasn't a fit. Kudos ABC! I followed the instructions and took my time to really fill out the application truthfully and from my heart. Since the majority of ABC's workforce is made up of volunteers, I noticed the disclaimer that they would reach out to me only if I was a match. I anxiously waited hoping I'd be a match for Fritz and was SO EXCITED when the Director of the facility called me. During the call, I was made aware that Fritz had a rough start to his life and had been in the shelter for quite some time because, lets just say he wasn't one for great first impressions. During my conversation I was also made aware that Fritz would need a little "extra" love and time patience if I was approved. I really respected the truthfulness and time I was given so that I was truly aware of Frit's situation and that they took the time to be certain if I was a good fit or not. As I previously mentioned, I had that intuition that Fritz was meant to be part of my family, so I wasn't frightened away by the phone conversation and made my appointment to meet Fritz face to face. When I arrived, I was once again reminded that Fritz more than likely will bark and not be very welcoming to me being on his turf. I let them know I was ready for the challenge and couldn't wait to meet him. As it was explained, Fritz did not want anything to do with me but after time passed, he calmed down and gave my hand a little lick. The staff member (who was extremely sweet) literally had a tear in her eye and told me I was the first person (other than staff) he had ever done that to. I immediately said, "I'll take him"! There was one more step that needed to be completed and that was a home visit which I was pleased to have passed. As the great folks at ABC let me know, it did take extra love to get Fritz out of his shell and to feel comfortable in his new way of life; as he was basically a feral dog and had never had a home. Things moved along in a positive way quickly and I have the greatest best friend ever! That is until this past week when my wife and I adopted a dog. We stopped by My Pet Market yesterday to get a wash for our new member of the family while also looking around at other items and asking the employees for some advice. It was an all-around positive experience! My wife and I just adopted our dog on Thursday, and two days later, we were ready for our first outing with her to get her a bath at the iClean Dog Wash. We put on her harness for the occasion, which seemed a bit loose. We asked the team working for advice and received some helpful information that made a big difference. We then went to the bag left corner of the store and took advantage of a pet wash, which was $15 for about 15 minutes that included a regular wash, shampoo, conditioner, flea wash, low pressure dryer, high pressure dryer, and sanitization (of the wash area). We could stop and start at our convenience to ensure we have time to get a dog fully washed or dried. Towels, brushes, and aprons were provided to the washers. While our dog wasn't a fan of the process, we thought it was easy to use and ensure she got clean. After the wash, we looked around at the many products. We will certainly be back! My Pet Market is a family-owned, independent pet store that specializes in natural foods for all sorts of animals. They have a huge supply of treats, toys, and products. Their staff are prepared to provide information that we may need to keep our pets healthy and happy based on our pets' individual needs. They provide recommendations as needed. We did a few speed dates with bunny bachelors from both Brambley Hedge and Tranquility Trail and while I liked both rescues, my little lady got along best with a headstrong Angora mix from Tranquility Trail. Fast forward to the present day. The wildlife rescue where I volunteer at received a pet rabbit someone had brought in, found outside in the Phoenix area with a badly broken leg. It had appeared to be an old injury. In working and volunteering with rescues you see a lot of animal neglect and cruelty. I contacted Brambley Hedge who responded swiftly. They were able to take the little fellow in and have one of the vets they work with examine him. The staff and I were very grateful they were able to welcome him to their rescue. Thanks for all you do for the little bunny folk, Brambley Hedge! My daughters 10th birthday was approaching so she asked if she could get a cat. I've been super busy working two jobs and attending Nursing school so I told my daughter to start looking for cat breeders preferably in Arizona so the kitty could avoid shipping trauma and cost. To my surprise one day I get a call from Ohlund on a Saturday morning around 8am. I was still half sleep and explained to her that my child had been the one communicating with her my text. My child had also been communicating with several breeders through email and text. So we talked for about 20 minutes. She went on and on about how much she loved cats and what her requirements were for the cats even after you adopted them and you become the owner some things she still required. She wanted to continue to communicate and check up on the kittens with picture updates through the years During the call she sent a contract, a picture of herself , and her address with a google map image . My daughter then asked if she could video chat with the kitty so she knows it's real. Throughout her search we noticed there are plenty of scammers in the business as well. We did get the FaceTime call with a much older lady than the one in the picture. I can't confirm If this is the same lady in the pic. The kitten sure was the same kitten from the website so I thought this could maybe work. Once she found out this was a birthday gift for my daughter she offered to lower the price from $1400 to $1200. At the end of the call I let Ohlund know that I would discuss the purchase price with my significant other once he was off work that day. Within about 3 hours she began calling me to ask if I had talked to my child's father. She may have called about 3-4 times that day. And I did not pick up because I was busy with my day and I didn't have an answer for her. She proceeded to text me and let me know someone else was interested in that kitty and I should move quickly. By Monday the kitty was sold and so were all the other female kittens from that litter. She sent me a text with the information and she updated it on her website as well. I told my daughter to keep looking and we may find a kitty that's a little lower in price. Fast forward to 3 weeks later my daughter continues to watch her website and admire the sold kitten. Behold a new litter drops online. And this time it was exactly on my daughters birthday. She received so much money as gifts for her birthday to cover the cat deposit on her own so I decided she could put the deposit on the cat that day. We called Ohlah again. She talked for about 20 mins again explaining her condition and her love for cats. She said well I can't honor the birthday discount anymore because this cat mom was an award winning show cat and I can't give out discounts for her. I was not up for negotiating so I just agreed to pay the full price. It was on a week day. I was at work and after doing the things mommy's do for their daughters birthday while being busy. The kitten was not ready to go home for another 9 weeks. She did not mention any other inquiries for the kitten so I decided to put everything else I had to do for the day first. Within 2 hours I began receiving back to back phone calls and text messages for me to hurry and make the deposit today. I was then reminded of how harassing her calls were the first time. I was immediately triggered and no longer wanted to even purchase the cat from her. I began texting her and her responses were pretty ignorant. You can see the thread below. Thank god I did not give her my correct address she asked for. This lady seems like a lunatic. When she originally asked for my address I asked for what she said to draw up a contract. From the looks of other reviews seems like she ask for address so she can hit you with lawyer paperwork when things don't work out with the cat and you make a public statement.
