I've done both take out and dine in, most visits there's been lots of staff but it takes a while to get anyone's attention. Which ever route you take dining here, give yourself time, you'll be waiting a while before you get your freshly made to order food. The food is always good though, so I would say it's worth the wait. While this spot isn't my first pick for dinner options in the area it's still a strongish contender for the food quality only. We ordered 1 Pozole, 2 Birria Tacos, and 2 Pupusas which came out to $37 before tip and fees which wasn't too bad. Honestly the Pupusas were really good. They were perfect and tasted delicious. Love the decorations of medals and awards! You have to be patient for this savory goodness. I unfortunately was hangry. I started with the empanada plantain with sweet cream. It hit the spot. He started with the sweet corn tamale. I ordered the Chicharron y Queso Pupusa and the Zucchini y Spinach y Queso Pupusa, my friend ordered the Chicharron y Frijoles y Queso and Zucchini y Spinach y Queso. When they were delivered, they got it mixed up. I got his and he got mine, not a huge deal but I was so hungry I already topped mine with Curtido and salsa and dug in so we didn't switch. We had a strange time there. I wanted to like it because I've been driving by it for more than 20 years and finally stopped. The service has an abrupt style. You are barked at to say whether you want to eat there or take out. You are then assigned a table instead of letting people sit where they would feel comfortable. The booths are not comfortable. We wanted to try just one pupusa because we didn't know them. I tried the most unusual one that had some kind of flower in it. We were treated like public enemy number one for only ordering one. They are made fresh because they take a long time to arrive. They plopped down the plate and left. After a few minutes the silverware shows up. Then a few more minutes and the slaw and sauces show up. Weird to leave the customer in the lurch. I should have ordered a different stuffing because the flowers did not add any specific flavor. The restaurant was bustling with happy customers and the speakers were playing lively music. It does take about 15-25 minutes for your food to be made but that is because the pupusas are made fresh to order. The Chicarron and queso pupusa was filled completely and delicious with the cabbage and salsa. Surprisingly my favorite pupusa had spinach and pumpkin in it, highly recommend if you enjoy exploring new flavors. The Chile Relleno was savory with ground pork and vegetables inside and topped with a red sauce and served with tortillas. Pupuseria Salvadorena has been on my list of must visit places for awhile now and I was happy to finally try it recently! They are an authentic Salvadoran restaurant. The restaurant is located in a strip mall right next to Seven Eleven and is across from the fairgrounds in Santa Rosa. Parking is a little limited and this is a popular spot so expect a bit of a wait. From the moment you walk in the restaurant is very clean and the staff was very friendly and attentive. They have lots of seating throughout the restaurant. For food, I ordered a cheese pupusa, rice and beans and a corn tamale. The pupusa was delicious and the corn tamale was very tasty too. They also provide cabbage slaw and salsa to accompany the food. My whole meal with a drink was less than $15. The pricing is very affordable. I love coming to this spot. When we walked in we were greeted and were told to sit wherever so we chose a booth. It was empty upon arrival which was surprising considering it was 12pm , the restaurant filled quickly. My bestfriend is salvadorian and makes the best ones and when I'm craving pupusas I come here since they're similar to hers. The Curtido which is a blend of shredded cabbage, carrot with some sort of vinegar balances the pupusas with a fresh bite! I got 4 pupusas 1 jalapeno cheese, 1beans, cheese, chicharon, 2 Chicharron and cheese. They were fresh and hot upon arrival. They gave us a bowl of curtido to share between both of us. Which was definetly not enough. We had to hunt to down the server to get 2 more bowls. He was friendly but didn't touch the table more than twice, which is understandable considering he was doing the job of 3 and the restaurant was busy. Kudos to them! I understand the 20 to 25 minute wait I'm super accustomed to this, but came in today and did not receive my food for an hour. This place has been around for a while, but I never noticed it until I had to drop someone off at the Jockey Club across the street. First impression? It was so clean. From the dining area, the counter, to the restroom, seemed like someone just cleaned the restaurant before we arrived. People working the store were pleasant and friendly. For the food, we ordered their chicken tamales, spinach squash cheese pupusas, chincharon pupusas. We were impressed by the flavors of all of these entrees. The one not to be missed though is the chincharon pupusas. And, don't forget the garnish and the spicy chili sauce. They complemented the meal so well. The drink we chose was the Horchata. Slightly sweet and refreshing. Thirst quenching indeed. Price is reasonable, but will need to order more variety because the potion is small for us. In summary, like this authentic Salvadoran restaurant. Will return to try more new stuffs on their menu. read more
