UNREASONABLY, UNPROPORTIONATELY EXPENSIVE. Whoever chose how much each item was going to cost doesn't have any understanding on what they're serving compared to what they're charging. My 3 tacos, my friend's burrito and 2 sodas pushed the total to fifty bucks! We figured: okay, if that's the total price, it'll be worth it. Chips came first. Pico de gallo tasted flat. Salsa was off--too spicy, weird tamarind tang. That same salsa was on the tacos. They arrived fast, looked prepped, but... tiny. Barely any onion, barely any anything. Just meat and that salsa. My friend's burrito? He asked if they served them with a fair amount of meat--they said yes. It didn't. Barely any meat and it tasted lifeless. We ate in quiet disappointment. Paid fifty dollars for what felt like amateur street food, but worse. We drove home furious--talking about how much money we'd lost, how street vendors do it better for half the price. The place is in the midst of a renovation which feels a bit booby trapped, with ladders and buckets blocking pathways, but the staff are very friendly. The barbecue outside is what drew us in, and it was relatively tasty but dry...nothing that would make me want to seek it out again. At least switch to a paper menu, but to use old school white out?!? In my eyes, it's always about appearance so when I received my water, it was in a plastic cup with a lid and a straw, making me feel like a child. Upon waiting for my dinner, a large party of eight were receiving their food. There were two waitresses bring each dinner out, one by one. This family waited to dip in until all were served. I always like trying new places and ordering a super burrito. I believe if a restaurant can make a good burrito, usually everything else is also pretty good. El Brinquito had a great burrito but Service was not the best and I found a hair in one of the salsa's. The Carnitas burrito was a decent size and tasted delicious. The food is soo good here and has been consistent. My husband and I frequent this place when we want some good, inexpensive Mexican food. I'm giving them 3 stars today because when I ordered an Arnold Palmer (which I've done every time before) I was brought a can of Arizona Lite Half & Half Iced Tea Lemonade. I can't understand this. They don't have Iced Tea and Lemonade to put together in a cup? Again, that's what I've gotten in the past so I'm taken aback that I received a can of Arizona this time. Then we asked for ice water and were brought cups of ice. I'm thinking they were just distracted by a larger table of people, but still very weird experience today. But I'll still come back. There was a Seinfeld episode where Jerry and George discussed salsa being the #1 condiment in the world. They said it's because people liked to say "salsa." I say people must have ate at El Brinquito. The salsa is amazing and better yet, they serve two! One is a bit on the fiery side and the other is just chunky goodness. The chips are served warm and have just a hint of salt. And let me tell ya, it goes quick because they are so addictive. Salsa isn't the only thing they serve that's good. I had shrimp tacos and they were killer! The shrimp were big, cooked perfectly and topped with a fantastic guacamole. The corn tortillas were oh so fresh too. Big portions at reasonable prices! My brother and I ate here as a mid-thrift store shopping spree break. We were hungry, we were looking for deals, and this hit the spot. Doesn't look like too much from the exterior. It's just off the highway at a busy intersection, so while there is outdoor seating with some cool chairs, it can be a bit loud. Small parking lot. Not sure if cook time was on the slower side or they just didn't let us know when our order was ready for pickup. Either way, not a big deal. I got the veggie burrito and really enjoyed it. It's a tough item for restaurants to make right, as some just add rice and beans, other include vegetables that make the texture weird. El Brinquito nailed it. Saw this restaurant on the way out of a visit to the Harbor Freight store that's nearby. I'm always on the lookout for new restaurants and experiences. This place was ok. Arrived around 6pm , plenty of parking and indoor seating. Ordered : Asada Quesadilla 5/5 Flan 4.5/5 Asada 49er burrito 3.5/5 Tacos ( El pastor) 4.5/5 Horchata 5/5 We got three bags of chips and salsa with Utensils and napkins all set to go . Extremely wonderful. The service was also a 5/5 our Order was complete with no complaints. The flan was really good . Nice thick and creamy . Delicious flavor. I would buy again Asada Quesadilla was absolutely the best . The asada is marinated very well . Stuffed completely with met and cheese . The best thing I ordered besides the flan . 49er burrito was HUGE ! Stuffed with meat lettuce rice and maybe beans I seen lots more meat . Definitely filling. Topped with sour cream and guacamole. Red sauce was a bit salty . the meat was full of flavor with a hint of lime . Definitely a 50/50 with Meat and Rice . I don't think there was cheese in it just on top of the red sauce . Tacos: 4.5 The pastor meat was very tasty. All the meat here is full of flavor, nothing is bland . Horchata was very good and I love that's it wasn't to sweet . Worst food ever. I will never ever come back to this place. I ordered a super burrito. It said it had sour cream among other things. No it only had meat and that was nasty as heck. It was marinated pork. It tasted like it had gone bad. I have given this place a chance in the past and it failed then too under it's old name. I should of known this was the same food. All bad. Heck Taco Bell has better food then this place. So save your cash and go elsewhere. There are a ton of other GOOD Mexican restaurants. This is not one of them. Congrats you are banned! read more

There are so many Mexican restaurants in Santa Rosa, but this one stands out to me the most because of how good their salsa is and the flavors. By far the best crispy taco al pastor there is. I love their bean, rice and cheese burritos too. They make the food fast, staff is friendly, and they def give off a family restaurant vibe. I couldn't ever get tired of this place. I'm confused why they don't have more stars. They pretty much check everything off on my list for delicious Mexican food. Whenever I'm craving Mexican I come here. Even their pico is really amazing. Honestly this place has gone down hill. I use to love eating here but lately the quality of their food hasn't been that great. The meat has more fat than actual meat, it's crispy, dry, hard and crunch. I feel like I ate the scraps of meat off the grill area. It was disgusting. This is I believe an up and coming place. This is our second time coming here in a week. The inside is needing some updating, the order from the counter is something of a drawback, but no big deal. The tacos I feel were spot on, I got a couple tacos the fist time, carne asada and then carnitas. Was flavorful... had plenty of meat (they were the crunchy tacos)... all and all very delicious. The chips they give are fresh and warm..a big plus for our family. The salsa was spicy, enjoyable. My son got the carne asada regular burrito and very much loved it. They got fountain drinks, which to me elevates it ;). I also noticed they have a few beers on tap, for when we come back. It looks like they are working on upgrading their outdoor area, parking can be somewhat of a challenge when busy. Definitely a place we will be trying other items. read more

Beware - Smaller portions double prices I used to love this place. I think that they recently sold out to somebody that must've been promoted from Dell taco... I just can't understand where they find 3 inch corn tortillas. I paid three dollars for the smallest taco I've ever seen in my life, and it was rolled up in a piece of tinfoil. At first I thought it was three lime wedges. I told the manager/owner I couldn't find my taco in my delivery and he said no that's it, LOL apparently he didn't like my demeanor and told me to go eat at Taco Bell. Ordered one night via door dash, only received half the food, I called as soon as it was received and they stated the tan out of the items we ordered and blamed the door dash driver for not calling us and informing us that they were out of multiple items. Would not refund or offer alternate items, just said to ask door dash for a refund. Asked for manager contact and they stated they don't have one.... I normally don't write reviews.... But i saw how many bad reviews this place has and it's low score and don't really understand why as I am sitting here enjoying this place. Let's start with I am not from this area, my visit here was merely luck. I saw El Brinquito as I was driving by, quickly decided Mexican food was going to be my refuel meal after my workout. I walked in the door, and several employees greeted me and said "welcome". I said hello back. They have a sign asking you to wear your mask and use the hand sanitizer they have provided before coming in. The establishment looks very clean and welcoming. There is really unique art work scattered throughout the restaurant, that I ended up taking in after I ordered. I have been on birria and consomé kick for awhile now, so I went with three queso birria con consomé tacos with a coke. Once i was done appreciating the art work and took a seat, a server brought me chips and salsa and pico de Gallo. My opinion of the salsa was really good! It had a good level of spicy and flavor, on the verge of wanting water, but not quite there as the flavors soothed it all out. The chips are good, and they gave me more salsa and chips when I asked the staff at the front. The birria tacos came out looking gas! They where laid flat, (tortilla, queso, tortilla, birria, tortilla, queso, tortilla.) I am not sure they normally do consomé with the tacos, but I am grateful they did for me because it makes the whole experience better with this style. So it's messy, but grab that taco and fold it in half, dip it in your consomé, and enjoy my friends!! Bomb!!! In addition!!! My tacos were stacked with steak!!! It was truly the perfect refuel meal, heavy in protein, carbs, and fat! It was delicious. I was having such a good experience that once I cleared my plate, I ordered a strawberry margarita and asked if they had an Instagram, which the staff let me know they didn't have one. So I rarely look on yelp, but wanted to share my experience some how to show my appreciation... and to my surprise... so many people have left really bad reviews. I read a good amount of them, not all 134 of them, but enough to see it doesn't really seem to be about this establishments customer service, food, or it's cleanliness.... And maybe some other reason?!? That is for the users to discern I suppose. I can validate that I am having a great time... the queso birria tacos with consomé... it smacks... the consomé doesn't have meat in it... but there is so much meat in the taco already... three was solid for me, and I'm a fluffy guy. Stopped here with my wife as we ran errands. From the outside I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. My wife ordered a 3 taco plate and I ordered the 49er burrito and as a Cowboys fan that was a tough call. Both portions were huge and I would like to see someone finish the 49er burrito in one sitting as it was stuffed with goodness and covered in guacamole and red sauce. I shopped around Mexican restaurants this afternoon on the web and found the burrito I wanted to get. The Burrito El Brinquito, a carnitas and chorizo burrito with chipotle sauce and the usual rice and beans with sour cream and a small amount of quacamole and a little pico de gallo, too. The standard additions for what a super burrito anywhere else would be. I saw the price of $15.95 on the website and decided to get it. I got there and ordered and paid, but the total came to $19 and change, which seemed a little steep and made me wonder what kind of charges were being added in addition to my food. So I grabbed a menu and found that the price for this burrito was now $17.95, not $15.95 like the website said. (Sigh). I know prices can go up, but how much trouble would it be to get your menus and the website to agree on the price rather than surprise the diner when they get there? The burrito wasn't bad. It wasn't any larger than the burrito I get at Los Arcos called the Burrito Loco with five kinds of meat for the $15.95, the same price I was expecting here. Six of went there for something to eat after the Analy graduation and before our graduate went to his Project Grad at the Epic Center. It was a convenient location and one we had all remembered seeing but had never gone to. Perfect, right? No. I was going to write this review as a revenge post, but I am opting for constructive criticism instead. First, let's get the service part out of the way: our server, Ariella (sp?) was friendly and gave us good service. The ambience: it was dark and uninviting. This would have been okay, but... The food was pretty much terrible. My wife's shrimp was dry, flat and very overcooked. Maybe it was cooked several times? I tasted it, and I agree with my wife: horrible. My burrito. I had the super burrito with carnitas. There was carnitas in is but it was really just a massive mound of refried beans. Now, the constructive part: make a radical change in how you prepare the food. Have standards and insist and supervise those responsible to make ure they adhere to those standards. Mexican food is California food. I have eaten in probably over a 100 Mexican restaurants. This was my worst experience. When you have made some radical changes, get a hold of me and I will come eat at your place again.
