Hidden gem! Literally. I would not have found this place if I wasn't sitting in the passenger seat and stuck in traffic trying to get on the freeway ramp. I look out the window and beyond the Denny's I see a restaurant, "Dos Culturas" I tell my husband, and we're both intrigued. My MIL has lived in the neighborhood for 2 years, and we passed by the place probably over 100 times, tucked away in the far back in the same parking lot as Denny's... and I only noticed the place because we were sitting in traffic. We finally decided to give it a try. First off, I love the huge menu. Obviously, it's fitting two cultures (Salvadorean and Mexican) on their menu, and they don't skimp. They have it all. We got the pupusa bombs (!) to share, and I got the chile relleno con carnes, and the hubs got a carnitas plate. The pupusa bombs are basically pupusas but in a ball, then deep fried. We got one bean and cheese, and one birria and cheese and it comes with birria consome for dipping. These really were the bomb! A bit expensive for what they were, but we still thoroughly enjoyed it. The chile relleno con carnes was really good, and exactly how I want a chile relleno to taste. Great batter, and great sauce, and it was topped with cheese, so you get the carnes and the cheese. :) Yum! I would definitely get it again. My hub's carnitas plate was good, and the portions were huge. I also really love the green sauce they give you with the chips. I could eat that all day. (Not sure if my digestive system would like it though. :P) Service was slightly slow, but that was just because the waitress was the bartender and waiting on the whole restaurant. She was very nice and welcoming, ...so it really wasn't too bad. I wanted to give this place some love because it's really good and it's so hidden, even though it's on a busy street. I recommend to the owners to get some signs to put on Santa Rosa Ave saying you exist there, because I seriously would had never realized this really good place was there unless I was stuck in traffic. Anyhow, I am very confident we'll be back. Would love to try the standard pupusas and lots of other stuff on the menu. They have breakfast too! read more

I wanted to like this place, but after ordering through DoorDash was left wanting and upset. I ordered the Carne Asada Super Burrito and added sour cream, guacamole and avocado as I like extra chunky guacamole so the added avocado usually does it for me. They left out the avocado completely and gave me a tablespoon of guacamole and sour cream, which was enough to have some in two of the 30+ bites the burrito offers. I called the location and the manager was very nice at first, she said she would make me a new burrito and to come in tomorrow, that she will make a note of it. When I got there, she was not a nice lady I talked to on the phone. She was immediately irritated with me and demanded a picture of the item. I did not have a picture. I took one through the review of the item on the app, but apparently that doesn't save it to your phone. She told me go ahead and complain through DoorDash. I can't help you. She wasted my time, energy, gas and basically stole my money. I cannot recommend this place, unfortunately. If you do decide to go there, make sure they don't do you, like they did me. Completely unacceptable and far from professional. If they followed through with the original promise to me, this would've been a positive review. It's unfortunate. Their leadership is too stubborn to admit mistakes. read more

This place is tucked away but one can find it. Wanted a quick more quiet lunch between errands on Santa Rosa Avenue. Glad I found it. Was there early and manager or chef was quick to turn down the music and get cookin'. Had the shrimp platter that was muy rico! Avocado perfect! lovely generous salad, the frijoles generous and the best I've ever had...! The shrimp perhaps because I requested it, was very tasty without too much bite. Stopped in at 4 on a Saturday, this dish was everything! Savory, perfectly balanced spice with smoky, mildly salty consume. The only drawback and it was very slight. It took quite a while to get our food. I now believe that's because they were making it from scratch. read more

A family member recently recommended Dos Culturas so we had to give it a try! The restaurant has several booths and tables with large hand-painted murals on the walls. It was quiet and clean. Service was very friendly. We ordered one of their pupusas revueltas which comes stuffed with cheese, pork, and refried beans, a tostada with carne asada, and a super burrito with carne asada. The pupusa was so delicious and came with a really good pickled slaw. My tostada was great and came loaded with beans, meat, cheese, lettuce, guacamole, and pico de gallo. Their guacamole has an interesting sweet flavor that I couldn't really identify but it was good. My husband enjoyed his burrito as well. They have so many interesting El Salvadorian options and we can't wait to go back and try more. The pupusa alone was a reason for us to return! read more

We had such a great Taco Tuesday night here at Dos Culturas! The food is good, the drinks are strong and high quality with beautiful garnishes plus more. It's a beautiful place with culture and good service. Our server was impeccable- she acknowledge us, provided great service and makes the best drinks. We initially was going to do take out, but the environment was so welcoming it called for us to sit down and have some chips & salsa which we really enjoyed. We ended up eating our meal dinning in and ordered to-go for our kids at home. We slipped in a date night unknowingly:) Definitely a place I would highly recommend. The Pozole is very good. The service good The ambiance is sort'a dive bar; but, who cares the Pozole is very good. Tucked away behind other businesses in a small strip center you need to work to find it. It's worth it. Look for Denny's, Dos Culturas is behind them. read more

My peers and I decided to come to dos cultures for lunch in Santa Rosa. The restaurant is in a shopping center next to a mechanic shop. It is an older building that needs some upgrading. The waitress was super friendly and was very attentive throughout our visit. I ordered a cantarito with tequila to drink and also pupusas as my entree. My peers decided on pupusas and pan con pollo. Pan con pollo is a French bread that almost resembles a torta. It is filled with fresh veggies and chicken with the chicken sauce. To die for. The service was excellent. Couldn't have asked for more. The reason I had to deduct a star was because of the food flavor. The pupusas didn't have much flavor and not much filling. The cantarrito was great and refreshing but the pupusas needed more flavor in the filling. I will definitely be back whenever I'm in town but will try a different dish. read more

What a cute place and delis food and wonderful service. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the waitress who seemed to be doing it all! You go girl! :) Great attitude, still fast service and we received our order in a timely manner. I read the reviews where people complaining bout the margarita, it was all right, definitely not worth $10. We picked the burrito and the quesadilla, we were not disappointed at all. Lunch July 2021. 3 of us order different items so we can taste a variety. Ate on patio with my 2 Labradors. Dog friendly. But alas, shared opinions among us is that the food is mediocre. Pupusas are greasy outside and pretty flavorless inside. Pastelitos are also bland and gummy. Escabeche is fine if unremarkable. Beans and rice lack pizzazz, too. None of us finished the food on our plates even though we were hungry. Barbara S. gave up after eating less than 30% of her pupusa, she really didn't like it. Honestly the tastiest items were the chips and 2 salsas. Nice server. Friendly, attentive and competent. I like and know Central American food. I lived in Mexico for a year. This place, which was deserted during lunch time, does not ring my bell. I came here because of many Yelp 5 star reviews. I don't share that opinion. Hubby had been wanting to try this restaurant so off we went on a lunch date with one of our good friends along as well. There is a small patio out front where we chose to sit because it is dog friendly. They have a large menu of selections so we wanted to try something different. Two of us had the large pupusas and both felt they were bland, flavorless, and gooey, not in the right way. Friend had the Pastelitos and she was very disappointed. I only ate 30% of my pupusa, and didn't even bother to bring it home. The server was very sweet, attentive etc. However the food leaves something to be desired. Maybe an off day? I had an extremely horrible experience here. We came to an event here to support a friend. Our waitress named Francisca was incredibly rude , at one point she actually put her hand up to stop me from ordering and then the food arrived cold , a plate was also missing. To add insult to injury, when we asked for the check she literaly split it when we didnt even ask to split it and then we were told to "deal with it". Completely unacceptable. This place feels and smells (in a good way) like a restaurant in Mexico. Its a hole in the wall where the chefs know what they are doing. There are awesome flavors and a great selection of Mexican and SalvadorIan dishes. it's clear they aren't taking any shortcuts with the food. flavors are developed and delicious. don't let the lack of a front entrance or the parking lot being shared with a tire shop and gas station stop you from trying this great food. read more

Impulse stop after a trip to Costco. Ordered a steak burrito and it's one of the better ones in the area. You can tell a lot about a Mexican restaurant by their salsa and both the red and green were fresh and delicious with just the right amount of spice. Will be a repeat customer. read more

We are taking a road trip from Las Vegas, Nevada and happened upon this restaurant off of the 101. We did not check reviews prior to entering but were pleasantly surprised. Amazing service, food quality and taste! If you haven't had a pupusa, Where in the world have you been. I recommend you try the pastelitos de pollo to start there is also a ground beef version that we will be going back for. My son (11) white washed lol and myself Had the chicharron and queso, and the bean and cheese pupusas. As well as the camarones a la plancha combo. Everything was amazing and as stated the food and service was amazing. 10-10 would eat again my frein. My only gripe would be that I wish they added more chicharron to the pupusas. Called for a pick up order today at 11:40 am was told to wait 25-30 minutes, by 12:20 pm my order was not ready. After waitress checked seemed like my order never reached the kitchen staff therefore needed to wait an additional time for my order. Waitress did apologize but I had arrived at noon and was told to continue waiting as my order was being cooked. So disappointing. read more
