Good, but not great. I love moist, delicious cake and frankly Pure Bliss is not the place for it. They have a wonderful atmosphere and tasty pastries. Easily accommodates small parties, and since they regularly experiment with new recipes the store often has new things to try. They also have a really wide variety of great possibilities to order for celebrations. When I visit family I usually bring a box of treats from this place for them to try. 4 stars just for the lemon wedges! They are little lemony, creamy wedges of heaven and I am addicted! The decor is super cute and the staff are really nice, and they have wine! What else could a girl ask for? Well moist cake would be nice. The salted caramel is definitely my favorite, not too sweet with the right amount of saltiness. The downside is that the cake is VERY dry, like even when it's fresh, I've made cake from box mix that was more moist and flavorful. I tried the cake four times now, thinking maybe I got a bad slice, but every time dry dry dry. Oh well as good as the frosting is the dry cake ruins it, so I'll just stick to the dessert wedges and other goodies. read more

I needed to get a cake for someone's birthday when I arrived in town and I did not want to go to a grocery store, so I searched Yelp and found Pure Bliss. I purchased a chocolate cake with buttery white frosting. The desserts are beautiful and fairly good if you are new to boutique cake shops. BUT you have to LOVE cream cheese frosting (which I do not) or be sure to order a cake with buttercream. This is not clear in the signage. The chocolate caramel cake didn't have caramel in it (only a tiny swirl on top) so lacked in caramel flavor. Kudos to Yelp friends for leading me to this tony Bakery. it is upscale, clean, yet very inviting. it is a nice place to sit and have a hot drink and a dessert. I've suffered with the task of finding a good dessert shop. After trudging through mediocre dry cupcakes and overpriced desserts with ingredients of questionable quality I have reached nirvana! ok I should have followed the advice of Yelpers who I follow so it is my fault that it took a while to discover my new favorite dessert spot.this is the first bakery in Bellingham to have such a wide array baked products. I miss Kiss my Sweet in San Diego so I am grateful to find this gem. Exuberant staff at the counter fielded my numerous questions with heartfelt descriptives of their cakes. Although the lemon cake did not have a lemon curd in it I ordered a piece to go on the recommendation of the lovely server. She was both knowledgeable and passionate when describing the quality ingredients which are used. The seating area looks comfortable and people were enjoying themselves. it was not too noisy and space between the tables makes for an inviting atmosphere. A perfect Saturday night in bed with my dense moist lemon pound cake with cream cheese and my equally moist coconut cake. I got the chocolate caramel cake & lemon bar. They were meant to be shared, but was so delicious I kept them both for myself :) The cake was moist and dense. The icing had the right sweetness and full of great flavor. Lemon bar was tart and sweet with a great crust. They are served refrigerator cold but would wait to eat them room temperature. Amazing desserts, anything with their cream cheese icing is divine. Had my graduation, birthday AND wedding catered by them, as well as numerous pick ups for desserts for birthdays or holidays. The pumpkin spice, lemon, and chocolate bliss cakes are amazing. Richly Chocolatey and perfectly moist and dense. I only had one instance of a cake ordered that was a little under done, but it was still good. The gluten free chocolate torte is heaven. So rich and a little piece goes a long way. The flavors in all their desserts are deep, full flavored, and perfectly balanced. Not too sweet or buttery. The peppermint patty cake is probably my favorite during the winter months, chocolate bliss with the addition of peppermint flavoring and crushed candy canes. Other treats we love are the Russian Teacakes, creamy lemon wedges, Nanaimo bars, peanut butter Nanaimo bars, iced sugar cookies, any of their seasonal fruit custard wedges, their coconut macaroons, almond French macarons, and their fruit tarts (mascarpone filling). We have also had their shortcakes, depending on the season blueberry, strawberry, and raspberry. All in all it's delicious, the black and pink decor is chic and retro at the same time.
