I came by recently because I needed a healthy reset after a weekend of indulging. I got a green juice but since I saw such a robust vegetarian menu, I knew I had to get a meal as well. Cold pressed juice is definitely a rising star and places that offer quality juices are far and few in between. In LA and even in NYC, healthy restaurants and juice bars are plentiful. It was only a matter of time before such a place popped up in Brookline. Decent options have already sprouted all over Boston. Pure Cold Press has a lot of potential, but they have their work cut out for them. Aesthetically pleasing space. Warm, woody walls - reminiscent of Sweetgreen. 5 stars for server friendliness from all staff members. Operations need work - inefficient and confusing set up. If I grab a juice do I stand behind all the people buying salad/"portions"/sandwiches? Or do I skip the line to pay? There was a lady who commented to us that she wasn't going to stand in an entire salad line (of 8 people!) just to get juice. An older gentleman behind us talked to us and said that they needed to work on efficiency - I agree the line was moving very slowly. Like molasses. There was only one register!! And 4-5 employees ready to serve salad portions but no one really ordering - maybe funnel some to cashier duty? The juices come in 16oz portions like they do at Pressed in Back Bay, but the containers aren't quite as sturdy or impressive - they're just plain plastic bottles. Same prices: $9.50 a pop. I got the Grass Roots drink - much too bitter (was it the kale or parsley?). The juice with beets in it (free samples for today) came a tad too sweet but otherwise a good flavor. The juice cooler got to be too crowded as everyone squinted at the labels on the juice bottles. The menu. Oh goodness gracious this was a disaster. NOTHING was labeled! See attached photos. If every single person in line has to ask what the sandwich of the day is, a huge chunk of business and customer time gets lost. Btw, sandwiches change weekly. This week is a vegetarian BLT. An attractive array of food was displayed behind the glass counters. Too bad I didn't know what any of it was. Was that light yellow pasta covered in light curry mayo or a lemon tahini sauce? Are there nuts in some of these options? What kinds of herbs were used? Other foods: acai bowls, chia seed pudding, and salads in mason jars - good looking to go options. The salad bar - they haven't put it in yet but it's on its way. Also I think they have a neat idea in using an herb garden as a line divider, which a staff member said could be used to grab herbs for salads. I'm wondering, will that be customers grabbing the herbs themselves or staff? Hopefully staff, since they would have gloves. I just wouldn't trust every single customer to have hospital clean hands. I really really wanted to be super excited about this place but they have a few things to improve before I check them out again! read more

I was so glad to discover Pure Cold Press! Unlike most of the other juice places in the Boston area, Pure Cold Press has an expansive food selection (salads, sandwiches, oatmeal, pancakes, acai bowls, even Belgian waffles). Also, they actually have space, which is a rarity among Boston juice joints. Owner is extremely friendly and really cares about making his customers happy. Definitely returning soon! Even though they are not officially open they are selling juice, some salads in jars, coconuts, and bowls. I've gone to the shop twice and both times the owner(s) were very nice and let me sample some of the juices available . Grass Roots (all organic) is my current favorite raw juice they offer. I'm drinking for health and taste. I liked all of them I tried. I love raw juice and I'm excited for some healthy options in Coolidge Corner. They have been slow to open but that's business and I'm not holding it against them. The labels are hard to read on the bottles and I have great vision (I hope the considered this). The interior is what I expected --modern rustic. They will officially open June 22nd (they say). Their hours will be 7am-9pm. I'm looking forward to every thing once they settle in. read more

I am always excited to try smoothie and juice bars out. I didn't realize they had other delicious food. I've never tried a shawarma before since I don't come from a cultured area. I was blown away by the flavors and how delicious the sandwich was!! My smoothie was also perfect. The place was very clean, was digging the tribal trance playing, and good service. I wanted to love this place, so the first time I went I overlooked the fact that somewhere between the cashier and the person making the juice, a distance of 4 feet, my order got lost. I waited 10 minutes in a pretty quiet situation and then went back up to the register. Crickets. Then, " you didn't get your juice? How come?" Good question. I tried again on another day, quiet, after 2:00pm, I waited a really long time while the one counter person tried to do everything to ignore me. Again last Thursday...cleaning, wiping, but no interest at all in me waiting at the register. Someone managed a , " be right with you." So I waited some more. They disappeared. So did I. I tried Cold Press, but I have limits. You tested all of them...and it was never even busy. That I could understand. But uninterested...I just can't. read more

I drop by for a soup in late afternoon. The minestrone soup is a bit pricier than other places, but it's hearty, with fresh ingredients, and it's quite tasty and it's well worth it. The casual decor is airy and spacious enough. With covid, there's plenty of outdoor seating as well. There's street parking, though it's easily accessible with a short walk from the Coolidge Corner stop on the C line of the T (trains). There are also bus stops up and down Harvard St. I'll visit again and try other items on the menu next time. read more

I haven't been to the location but order delivery almost every day for the last week. I'm in LOVE with their selection. The food is delicious and I don't need to ask a million questions to confirm if a dish is vegan. My favorite so far has been the Avocado smash sandwich and Superhero smoothie sans pineapple. The sandwich comes with a small salad which is a nice compliment to round off the meal and the smoothie hits the spot. Either option is a perfectly balanced/ portioned meal. This is a cute little place in Brookline with custom salads and smoothies, as well as acai bowls, cold pressed juices, soups, sandwiches, coffee, and tea. It's clean and fresh; there's a good amount of seating so you could probably bring your work here if you want, or just hang out with friends. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door, though the store was pretty empty. I was enticed by the acai bowl, but decided to go for a salad instead. I custom made mine with kale, arugula, a hard boiled egg, beets, sweet potato, cauliflower, pepitas, and lemongrass vinaigrette. The way they make salads is very similar to Sweetgreen in that they mix it all up / toss it in a big mixing bowl and ask you if you want light / medium / heavy dressing. It was a good sized salad, but came out to $11. Kind of expensive - even Sweetgreen custom salads tend to stay at $9-$10. The service is really nice here though, and I like the atmosphere. I'll definitely be back to try their other things, like the cold pressed juice and the acai bowl. read more

This place is the best! There is something HEALTHY for everyone and every mood. I love getting the date night smoothie as a bowl if I am looking for a lighter meal or even a bigger snack. If I am hungrier or looking for something warm, the sabich or grilled cheese are my favorites. Also for brunch their shakshuka is the best in town-- its chunky and flavorful, not like other places in the neighborhood that taste like they just poured a jar of tomato sauce into the pan and added eggs. Overall this place is my go to! They are constantly adding new stuff to the menu too to keep it interesting. The owner takes a lot of pride in his restaurant and it shows-- he is always there, working hard, and quick to make things right or suggest another item if something doesn't come out as I expected... the perks of supporting a local business. Came for a late breakfast with my boyfriend around 10. Overall, the food was basic. The acai bowl was not worth 9 dollars. Pretty watery. The one problem I had was with the service--the guy that took the order. He must have been somewhat in charge because he was giving directions to people making the food, but otherwise he was full of bulls**t. We tried to order homefries and he told us that they " don't make those on Fridays... Waah waah waah..". There was No sign that this was the case. He could have just said they were out. He also forgot to put in the order for the bagel. We tried to make eye contact, and he remembered and we heard him tell someone in the kitchen to start it. He told us that he had wanted to wait for us to finish the acai bowl first, and then told us to come and get it when we were halfway down with the bowls. You can order from the menu, or, if you are like me, grab some of the juices and ginger shots from the fridge by the door. My favorite is the "Beet It", but I've had almost everything on the menu and am always pleasantly surprised. I find the juices to be reasonably priced for the area ($7 each) considering the plethora of nutritious and delicious options. I can't wait to come in and try the Shakshouka, I hear its great. The staff is friendly and the place is clean with ample options for seating. This is not a comfortable place to be if you are at all socially conscious. Their menu is full of cultural appropriation. I ordered the "ninja" wrap which was uncomfortable enough in and of itself. The cashier made it twice as uncomfortable by calling me a "little samurai" in a way that I couldn't decide if it was attempting to be flirtatious or if it was something he might say to a 5-year-old. The only reason why I go to this place is because it's close to home. The place is clean and impeccable but the service here is horrible with long wait lines and not enough staff taking orders. I've gone in multiple times where there is a little boy working and chopping up fruits - is that even legal? My review is based on the numerous times I've been here. When it first opened, I was ecstatic. After that, I discovered how slow the service was. The guy who owns the store overcharges people constantly (I called him out on it once) and he needs to learn to hire extra employees so that one person isn't taking all the orders and checking out people at the same time. The food isn't that great either - the soup is way too salty and key ingredients seem to be missing all the time. What's upsetting is that they completely overprice everything. $12 for a salad - Sweetgreens make your own salad only costs $10! I only hope that customer service improves upon the store reading this. I too, had a similar experience with the tall gentleman who looked like he was trying too hard to be on the cover of GQ, I'm pretty sure he's one of the owners. He ran out the door and started talking to someone on the other side of the street in the middle of ringing people up. Unbelievable. It seems like they ripped off every juice bar in the city in some way, though the interior is nice. I heard Cocobeet is delivering to Allston/Brookline now, with plans to (not soon enough) open a store somewhere in the area. Praying. I don't understand the setup here, with one line whether you're buying a juice off the shelf or something made to order. Am I supposed to cut everyone, or am I expected to wait for 3 people to place an order from the line before I can swipe my card and pay? When I'm working over at MGH I order ahead from Pressed's mobile app and just walk in, walk out, and get on with my life. Also, a tip to the owners: I get it, starting a business costs money, but skimping on the packaging, labels, etc. is a surefire way to go out of business. quick. have you tried to read your own labels on anything yet? While this place is aesthetically pleasing, the service is horrendous. I've had 2 bad experiences here, and the second one is what really made me want to write this review. The first time I came here was over a month ago. It was around lunch time and the place was almost empty. Only a couple of customers sitting - no one was in line. I walked up to the register and ordered with the tall, grumpy guy who i believe is the owner. Then I waited about 5 minutes until my smoothie was done. He was incredibly slow and was texting on his phone. Once the blender was done, he was still on his phone for a full minute! The smoothie was really good though so overall I wasn't that tempted to write a good or bad review. Today was my second and last time here. There were 2 people ordering salads and customer in front of the register. I saw she first stood in the salad line, then walked over to the register to order her smoothie. I proceeded to do the same, since I wasn't ordering a salad and only wanted a smoothie. The employee at the register took the order and went to make the customer's smoothie. This took forever. Then when she was finally done and I thought she'd come back and take my order, that didn't happen. Instead the owner asked her to do something in the back, and she started making some sort of sandwich for a good 2-3 minutes. Then I thought "okay, she's coming to get my order.." She didn't. She started helping people in the salad line as about 5 more people had come in. At that point, I just left because I had already waited for about 10 minutes. All in all, the owner doesn't know how to run a restaurant. It was evident the first time I was there when he was on his phone and felt no sense of urgency to take care of his customers. It was evident today when the whole team here was incredibly slow and literally ignored me as a customer. It is also very unclear where you should be ordering. There is no sign for smoothies - there is just a board hanging behind the register. This makes a reasonable person think that you should stand by the register to order, especially when there are people already doing so. I hope this guy learns how to run a business because being grumpy and ignoring customers is not the way to do it. His father runs Rami's, which is great. First time here and they recently opened so some of the service issues will be worked out I'm sure. My only gripe is with the cashier - he was not focused on serving the customer and appeared much more interested in flirting with one of the other staff, walking away from the register to yell across the street at someone he knew, and speaking to a customer for a few minutes. Not to mention tossing my credit card back at me across the counter rather than handing it back like a civilized human being. I hope when I return he is not at the register. Ordered the tempeh BLT sandwich since the salads seemed confusing and I needed to get in and out. Good bread, nice tempeh flavor, appeared to be missing the "L" but had plenty of avocado. I'll return but maybe give it a few weeks to work out the kinks (and get a new cashier I hope). read more
