Please do NOT go to this dentist!!! Last year was when I first visited the dentist for a general check up and this is when it all began. After the check up, Donavan asked me to write a review on Yelp. I said ok. He wanted to be included so I asked how to spell his name. He offered to type it out and proceeded to write out that entire review. I don't think he works there anymore but you can see that so many of the reviews for this dentist sound the same. It's because it was all written by him. He gave himself the liberty to write a google review as well. I was so uncomfortable but I didn't know what to say. I am leaving the review up as proof. They also try to sell you their invisalign. They try to make you feel fomo by saying that they're giving you a special deal for only a few days. My teeth are as good as you get naturally, but they said my teeth need adjustments. But these are the least of my worries. After the general check up, they told me to get fillings for 3 teeth. I have gotten all three done with them and 2 of them started causing extreme pain. Like I've never felt this much pain before. I went back and they told me that it's normal and told me to wait a few more weeks. Yes, teeth pains are normal but they should not be hurting for months. They just kept shaving the fillings whenever I visited with no help. I eventually went to a different dentist to realize that I need to do root canals on both teeth because of how deep they made my fillings. So not only have I wasted money by going to this dentist, I've also gone through the most painful and sleepless months in my life because they didn't know what they were doing. Please please please do yourself a favor and go find somewhere else. read more

After 4 years of not going to the dentist. I decided that I was way overdue to see a dentist. So I scheduled an appointment for a checkup, particularly for two of my teeth that I knew needed a root canal and a crown. During my dental X-rays, they seemed rather unprofessional taking the x-rays, but maybe that was their attempt to make me feel a little more comfortable. After they reviewed my x-rays, they said that I needed two root canals/crowns and several fillings. I have denti cal, so I expected to pay some out of pocket, but not the $5,000 worth of work they quoted me on but if I didn't agree to the payment plan that day, the price for the work that I needed done would go up$3000 because they said that the quoted price was locked in for the day, not to mention the interest of nearly $4,000. They didn't even send my x-rays to my insurance to see what they would cover. First. They told me that since the tooth wasn't rotted or whatever, that the insurance would not cover it. I went to go get a second opinion at my husband's dentist, and I told him about the quoted price and how somebody came in to try to finagle me into a payment plan that day and get work started the same day. Hands down the worst dental experience I've had was conducted today by Doctor Tourgoli. I went in to have an exam and cleaning performed... She spent a total of 4 min cleaning my teeth with the roughest handling I've experienced with no assistance from any staff, as I drooled water on myself with little regard by her. I nearly asked her to stop so I could just leave the office. Needless to say, I will not be returning and encourage others to consider other offices based on the very little care and pride she takes in her work. read more

Wouldn't recommend this place. Basically they just want your money and will do everything they can to get it even if it's not the best choice for you. When I went in they wanted to add a charge for bone graft which they said it's always included and not an option however in their website it states it's optional. I also had a family member who was being forced to sign a paper agreeing that his bridge was ok and fitting perfectly on the very first time he went to to try when it was not, then another one was forced to keep her crowns because they made it impossible for her to find the correct color once on they didn't even cover her teeth entirely. read more

Well I've been to this dentist a couple of times. They are conveniently located, and the dentists are good but their business practices and administration are bad in my opinion. They called me to get me in early but when I arrived on time they kept me waiting for 47 minutes, then I had to leave to get back to work on time. This is not good and I won't go their again! That is bad. Avoid this place unless you have lots of tiime cause I believe they jam and over book their appointments to keep busy. That's all about money and NOT customer service. read more

Omg this dentist office is the best dentist office I ever been to. I'm one person that takes pride in my teeth. So I've been to plenty of dentist offices, this office is by far the BEST. From the time you walk in the customer service is excellent. I can't remember the lady at the front desk, but she was amazing she broke everything down to me that I needed done and she was so nice about everything. Dr. Chung is over all the best ever. I saw doctor Tran with dental assistant Leslie. Leslie was gentle, considerate, and respectful while taking X-rays and gathering info. Staff was very courteous all around. Equipment was impressive using the latest technology. Even the seats seemed to have memory foam for comfort. I can see they thought of everything to serve the patient here. This was my second visit to this dental office and both experiences have been phenomenal. Donovan was super attentive towards my anxiety of the dentist from traumatic experiences in the past. They equipped my room with a fan and serene music and constantly check in during my deep cleaning. I'm writing this review on behalf of my mother who visited Pure Cypress Dentist and was taken of by Dr. Chiu. My mom has always been pretty anxious about dentist visits, but she called me after her appt today and said Dr Chiu was literally the nicest and most accommodating dental professional she's ever had! He asked about her previous experiences and made sure to address her anxieties, and did a really wonderful and meticulous job cleaning and filling in her cavities! She said it was even relaxing considering all of his attentiveness. My mother is so over-the-moon with the care she received from him - so a kind thank you on behalf of me too!!! They push patients to leave 5-star reviews on Google and Yelp by shoving a QR code in their face post appointment, so I would not trust any of the good reviews on here. I had a terrible experience here. I came here for a general checkup and cleaning, which was triggered by a slight pain in my tooth. During that appointment, Dr. Raha kept urging me to purchase a $500 night guard, which I declined. Few days after this appointment, I began to feel even more pain in the same tooth than before. I came in again and Dr. Thomas told me I had a deep cavity which required me to get a root canal AND crown. Dr. Thomas assured me that it's a guaranteed solution. I shelled out $1,700 because he said my insurance doesn't cover it. I wanted to fix this issue once and for all so I chose to trust his recommendation. I got the procedure done and the pain was EVEN worse than before. I came in AGAIN and he blatantly lied to me saying that the pain is coming from the tooth next to the crown he put in. "The crown is perfect, I'm not sure why you're feeling discomfort". He tapped on the crown he did and the tooth next to it, to compare where the pain is coming from. He kept saying I was signaling pain from the tooth next to the crown, although when I do the same test on myself, only the crown hurts. He referred me to another office, I'm assuming so that he doesn't have to take accountability for the messed up root canal and crown he did. I honestly don't know why he thinks I can't tell the difference in where I feel the pain in my own mouth. In the moment, I was so frustrated and angry I just accepted the result and left. I don't trust him, so I don't want to deal with him ever again, unless it's to get a refund. I wasted $1700 on a messed up root canal and crown. It's very upsetting and it sucks because I feel very untrusting towards dentists now. Don't get root canals or crowns done here. It's not worth the risk of it going bad and them shrugging you away to someone else. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE CALIFORNIA DENTAL BOARD. Read through all the 1-star reviews on Google. It's appalling. read more

I came across this dentist on Yelp. They had a decent rating and were super close to my apartment, so I thought, why not? The first visit was fine - they took X-rays, and scans, and did a quick cleaning. Then the dentist recommended Invisalign, saying he thought I was grinding my teeth in my sleep, which was strange because none of my previous dentists had ever mentioned it. I figured, maybe things had changed, so I said I'd think about it. A few weeks later, I went back for a deep cleaning, and honestly, that's where things got weird. The staff were nice and chatty, and the office itself seemed clean and well-kept, but the actual cleaning? Not great. For starters, they didn't use any numbing gel or anesthetic, which I found odd because deep cleanings are usually uncomfortable, at least in my experience. I thought, okay, maybe they don't think I need it. The dentist only used one tool the entire time (the buzzing one, not sure what it's called) - no scrapers or the little hook tool I'm used to. The whole thing felt rushed and was over in about 20-30 minutes, including polishing. For something they called a "deep cleaning," it was quick, and frankly, not thorough at all. Then it got even stranger. The person doing the polishing asked me to hand him the tools (the water sprayer and suction), which I did, but looking back, that felt super unprofessional - and I wasn't even wearing gloves! No antiseptic rinse either, just some liquid they said would help with "healing," which they said could take weeks (I've never heard of my gums needing weeks to heal after a cleaning). And if that wasn't enough, after the cleaning, the staff member who did the polishing asked me to write them a review. I've been asked to leave reviews before, but this was different. He had me scan a QR code, and I thought it was to schedule my next appointment, but it took me to their Yelp page. There was an awkward pause, and I started thinking, "Wait... does he want me to write the review right here and now?" I awkwardly laughed and asked if he wanted me to do it right then, which felt super weird. He just laughed and said I could do it later, but the whole thing felt off. As if that wasn't enough, after all this, another staff member came in to push Invisalign on me again. I thought we were done with that after the first visit! My teeth aren't perfectly straight, but I've never had a dentist push it on me like this before. It felt like they cared more about selling me something than actually taking care of my teeth. In the end, I paid $350 out of pocket (with PPO insurance!) for a cleaning that didn't feel like a proper deep clean. No numbing, done in record time, and just overall not a great experience. I honestly left feeling scammed. If you're looking for a new dentist, I'd say ask your friends and family for a good recommendation and skip this place. read more

Automatic 1 star from me because they pushed for a 5 star rating on the first visit & offered a whitening strip for it. I chose this office specifically for the reviews. If I had known they were bought with strips I would've gone elsewhere. Also because they have you sign consents too early. READ THE CONSENT FORMS BEFORE YOU SIGN. Anyway, I went to this office for over a year. I needed 3 crowns and 2 root canals. My first dentist who installed the first crown was great. I think Dr. Patel was her name. Everything after that was downhill. My 3 crowns took 7 visits just to install. The color and/or fit was wrong each time for the 2nd and 3rd crown. At like the 7th visit I asked why doesn't the color match the first crown. The office manager (who I noticed always came around when something was wrong) said oh that lab closed down and we had to get a new one. No one thought to tell me??? Then he said the new lab doesn't carry the shade I need that I already paid for. Each crown is $900. I didn't feel like walking around with my real tooth exposed until I found a new dentist, so I said screw it just install it. Within 6 months the 2nd and 3rd crowns came off (mind you, I have one crown that has had zero issues for 20 years). I went back, and they did replace them for free, but the 3rd crown was not installed correctly. I asked why the 3rd crown came off, and she just said oh well sometimes it slides around. No??? It just sounds like it was not done correctly. This last dentist didn't install the crown correctly either because I am currently having issues. Lesson learned. Do not go back to the same office just because they messed up and you want them to fix it. I also hate that it is basically a revolving door of dentists and assistants. You won't know who messed up and who didn't unless you're one to write everything down. One appointment took 2.5 hours and there were 5 people working on my mouth when the other times it was 2. One of the guys I did like had to fix whatever the previous folks did. Tldr: 1 star for bribed/pressured 5-stars reviews from new patients who haven't even been there longer than an hour, bad crown work, and having patients sign consent forms before they are supposed to. read more

Wow just wow had great insurance my whole life so never worried about who to go see. Been having life issues the past year ended up unemployed and needing to get medi cal. Found an amazing dentist in Costa Mesa called share ourselves offers services based on sliding scale. In the 6 months it took me to swallow my pride and get medi cal I visited them 5 times for 4 fillings, 2 deep cleanings and a root canal all for about $300!! Only downside is they don't offer crowns. So fast forward to today got approved for medi cal last month kicked in Jan 1st so go in here based off of positive reviews without actually reading them. Was told the root canal needs a crown (no duh!) but also they found another tooth that needs a crown but not a root canal (suspect!) this is before I mentioned I just had a filling and deep cleaning 3 weeks ago by share ourselves and they didn't say anything was needed other then the afore mentioned root canal needing a crown. Dentist was condescending . Here comes Gabby the office manager thinking I am dumb because I need medi cal gives me the song and dance that medi cal "probably" won't cover the root canal tooth and "most definitely " won't cover the crown that doesn't need a root canal. Was nice at first trying to make fake report with me. Sorry sales lady gabby who I am sure works on commission. I was in high level sales for the past 8 years selling 100k plus front and back yard remodels every week I know your game way better then you ever will. Urgency to make a decision based on price is a fools tactic. Long story short the place is disgustingly dirty, i wouldn't let them open up my tooth in that environment. I will not return. What should have been a simple crown for an existing root canal covered by medi cal turned into a $2,300 quote for 2 crowns that medi cal "won't cover" but if acted today she would do it for $2,000. I called and asked if they took my insurance and gave them my info and they said yes. The booking process was easy. I came today for my appointment and they said my insurance won't go through because of my other insurance provider. Then offered me their "special" for x rays and a check up which I would have to pay my own $ for. I left because my gut was telling me this was a bait and switch. If it wasn't a scam, then they should have never said that they took my insurance and booked me. I later went to another dentist near by and told them what happened and they ran my insurance and everything went through just fine. read more

Honestly this was best dental experience I've ever had. If you're afraid of the dentist, chances are you have only been to bad dentists. I came to Pure Cypress because they have tons of positive reviews and after my first visit I see why! They're really awesome and authentic here. All the staff are truly kind and professional. They're all so sweet and feel like good positive energy. I left here feeling happier because everyone was so nice and made my visit a pleasant experience. The fact that everything is so modern too from scheduling appointments online and filling out paperwork beforehand was such a breeze. I came to the waiting room and only waited like 5 mins. There's a tv in the operation room and I got to watch Netflix. Even the X-ray didn't take long and was a modern machine that even played music as it was X-raying my teeth lol!
