After a nightmare insurance experience elsewhere, where a referred endodontist was out-of-network and burned my CT scan coverage, I found Cypress Smiles Dentistry, and I couldn't be happier. I really wanted to like Cypress Smiles because the dentist himself was nice, patient, and listened to my concerns. However, my overall experience was disappointing and honestly a bit unsettling. During my first visit, I had X-rays and a cleaning. I was told I needed several fillings and a root canal--which felt like a red flag, especially since I had no pain or visible cavity on the FRONT tooth they were concerned about doing a root canal. I decided to do the fillings, but I didn't feel confident with the assistants. They didn't seem like licensed hygienists and didn't do a thorough job, not even flossing properly....she flossed like my front teeth at that was it. What really made me uneasy was how quickly they jumped to the root canal diagnosis without even taking time to fully review my X-rays. I went to another dentist for a second opinion, and they confirmed I did not need a root canal. Despite expressing that I didn't want the procedure, the front desk lady--an older woman--kept pushing the same narrative. She was passive-aggressive and tried to scare me into going through with the root canal, insisting my tooth would "eventually fall out." It made me really uncomfortable. the younger two ladies are really nice. I returned twice more for fillings and those visits were okay. But a recent experience was it for me honestly. I went in for a quick concern about my gums. I was there for maybe 5-10 minutes, was told it was nothing serious, and was reassured there would be no charge. Then I received a letter saying they billed my insurance for two X-rays.. that were never performed! When I called to address it, the same older front desk woman told me it was a "mistake" and offered to "not charge me next time," but said she couldn't reverse the claim. like no that's not how it works.... I had to escalate it to my insurance, who thankfully took it seriously and is now investigating. It's really upsetting to think they would bill for services that never happened. If I hadn't reviewed my insurance claims, I would have never known. It's hard to trust a place that seems more focused on getting paid than providing honest care. I appreciate the dentist himself, but the staff really needs a lesson in professionalism, honesty, and customer service. I'll be taking my dental care elsewhere. read more

I normally HATE the dentist.... But not this one! The positive reviews are legit, which is why after not having been to a dentist in 7 years... I was terrified but willing to try them. From the second I stepped in they could tell I was anxious and didn't want to be at "the dentist" but continuously reassured me we can take it at my own pace. Thank goodness I put my trust in them! Dora the office manager, is just the sweetest and kind hearted person, and helped me from running out the door. Alejandra was also very kind and sincere. We ended up having amazing conversations before and after my dental exam with the dentist. Many thanks to Breanna who took care of my X-rays and my much needed cleaning! She was a joy to talk to throughout the procedures. I was very blessed to get booked with Tuan Nguyen as my dentist. Even though I had some cavities and some cracked teeth in the very back from clenching, he didn't make me feel depressed, upset or have negative thoughts about it. In fact, I feel very excited and positive about the plan they put together and reassured any and all work needed will be as stress free as possible. I already have 2 appointments booked, and do not feel ashamed unlike the previous place where I was so traumatized it took years for me to be willing to see a dentist again. If you are scared, hesitant, anxious or anything in between, Cypress Smiles will take good care of you and you should feel better about yourself after leaving than before you went in. Cypress Smiles is amazing!! The first time I came here was almost 2 years ago. I hadn't been to the dentist in about 2 years because I have bad anxiety at the dentist. The people who work there are the kindest, most patient, and most understanding people. Adrian and Alejandra were amazing my first visit, and they really calmed me down. Since then, everyone else has gone above and beyond to make me as comfortable as possible. A few visits ago, Dr. Nguyen asked what they could do to make my experience more comfortable, since every time I come in there I'm an anxious mess. They take their time, tell me to take deep breaths, give me a little tooth-shaped toy to squeeze, and remind me that I am in control and they will stop whenever I need them to. They are also so friendly, and actually remember personal things about you!!! Shoutout to Dora too! She is so nice and I always love chatting with her at the front desk. I first chose this place because they took my insurance, and when I left that job and got a new insurance that they didn't take- I didn't care! I'm giving Dr Trinh the highest rating for the following reason. I don't like needles....and neither does he!! He used the smallest needles and good numbing gel to minimize the pain. My tooth extraction is a long story and a big job. The procedure was almost pain-free and took less than 10 minutes. He was prepared for battle with this tooth, but the whole procedure took less than 30 minutes. Numbing, extraction, bone grafting, stitching up, and prescriptions. I compared the treatment plan cost with another office. His treatment plan was thorough and reasonable. It's a great office and the staff is professional and curtious. read more

If you have insurance and are planning to change it over to this dentist, you should know before you do that they have a mandatory service that costs 175 dollars that ISN'T covered by insurance. They won't allow you to do X-rays, cleaning or any of the standard dentist procedures unless you commit to spending this extra money. I've seen a half a dozen dentists and have never encountered something where you can't refuse part of service and are forced into paying something that costs twice as much as my previous dentist charged without insurance. I spent a month waiting for my name to be reflected on their roster (even though I had my insurance card with them listed as my primary care provider, it had to be reflected on their roster first) only to have to change it to find a dentist that doesn't add unnecessary, unwanted and frankly suspicious charges to their standard care. The one thing in their favor was their receptionist Dora was incredibly helpful about trying to make my appointment work in a timely manner, and was very eloquent about explaining the dentist's viewpoint. She's the only reason I didn't have to wait even longer to try to find another dentist. read more

Unpleasant experience with an Dental HMO Plan. Front Receptionists are not helpful with obtaining patients insurance eligibility reports. They informed me that I was unable to schedule an appointment due to not finding me in the system. Dental HMO indicated that, indeed they can access the insurance eligibility from the Website and to call for verification of service, but the customer service was very poor. My experience with them was very disappointing. After I found that they weren't going to call the Dental HMO insurance, I contacted them and informed them if they can do a favor and fax over the report. I gave them approximately 2 weeks to receive the fax as well as potentially giving me a call back like they told me. When I called, I was informed they still haven't received any eligibility report so that I should be the one calling the Dental HMO plan. I went ahead and called and asked for assistance because the receptionist stated that they will not not call my Dental HMO for more clarification. After a day, I called back and the receptionist informed me that they received my insurance information, but a Disclaimer was read over the phone. All New Patients need to be aware that they will be charged a $170 for a dental cleaning. The reason for that is because they bought a new tech item for laser infection reducing machine that the insurance doesn't cover. It was mandatory for me to pay for the $170 procedure that I did not sign up for. Just for everyone out there, all insurances are difference, but my Dental HMO does offer a free dental cleaning. I am very disappointed with the service that was provided. I hope anybody that feels helpless sees this review. Just call you Dental HMO Plan back and switch your Dental Provider. read more

I brought my disabled sister here . I was very impressed. Very friendly and comforting to her. Offered her a drink and made the effort to help her relax. I was very pleased with the dentist. Conservative. Start out with the basics and see how it goes was his recommendation. She has some gum disease so he didn't want to get too aggressive. If some deep cleaning needed he would only do the necessary teeth . Wow. A dentist thinking about his patient in the chair and her possible tolerance. You rarely see that these days.
