Mike is absolutely awesome. We adopted a elderly, abused dog and she has a lot of skin issues and is quite smelly. Mike was so great with her and gave her the best haircut and bath. He was very patient and took his time to make her look her best. She looked like a different dog after and oh so much cuter!! We think he's a very gifted hair stylist. He was also extremely concerned about her skin condition and took super care to treat her condition as much as possible during the bathing process. These people are really awesome! Before I found this place, I had been searching and calling a bunch of pet grooming shops to help me wash a newly adopted cat on a Tuesday evening. The reason i needed the cat washed on a specific tuesday evening is a long story. I've called probably close to 20 shops. When these guys said yes, a gigantic weight came off my shoulders. Since this was a newly adopted cat, I had no idea how he was going to tolerate a bath. But these people were very nice and after the grooming was done, they were very honest as to what they had to do. I noticed they worked overtime on my cat, since they called me close to an hour after their closing time to pick up my cat. My new cat was nice, clean, and appeared calm. I just recently adopted a four pound chi/papillon mix and she is adorable. I'm a hairdresser, so you think I might be able to work my way around a pair of scissors. But when it comes to my pup, I had no idea where to start. I often go to the Starbucks in the same complex and noticed when Pure Grooming moved in. I called a few places but didn't really get the vibe I wanted til I called them. They made me an appt the next day. I didn't need much, just a clean up and some nail trimming. I had no idea if she'd be nice or not, but Mike was so awesome with her from the get go, I had no problem leaving her in his care. When I picked her up she looked great. Smelled wonderful, and he even put in a complimentary feather extension!!! Amazing. I will most definitely be back. I used to take my dog to Petco in Poway and Mike was a groomer there. I was happy to see he was the owner when I first came across his shop. He is so kind with my dog, very personable and does a great job every time. On top of all that I love that he uses all-natural products. I tried at least a half dozen groomers over the past few years. Was not happy with any of them. Our little Allie is a very tiny maltipooh who hates to be brushed. Especially her legs. She is also very spoiled, spends all her time in her dads lap. Ever since I started going to Mike, I have been extremely happy with how he grooms her, and how he and all the staff treat her. Hmm. I hate to write a bad review but I have been coming here for a couple of years and I just won't be able to anymore. Mike is a great groomer and my baby looks great when he's done. But! The office is so poorly run. My last 2 appts had to be rescheduled because Mike had family emergencies. Today my dog's grooming took over 6 hours! And, I tried to call to get a time estimate update but I could only leave a message and it was never returned. So I drove over anyways and had to sit in my car for 30 minutes for them to finish. I don't want my dog sitting in a crate for hours. This place seems like a "one man show" that overbooks appts. It is a shame because I do like Mike but just can't work around a poorly run business. read more

Do yourself a favor and don't support this business! The staff and owner are rude and disrespectful. Because of a disability, my wife (and our family) have been blessed with a service dog. He's changed our lives. When my wife has enough strength to get out she enjoys giving Leon his bath at the local self service dog wash. It helps her feel normal. While there the staff can be heard speaking poorly of their customers and their pet. On our last visit the owner questioned my wife about what training Leon has to be a service dog. She explained that Leon was bred and raised by Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) for over two years and knows over 40 commands. Mike commented that he's just a pet and she should provide his certification papers to prove he's a service dog. Do yourself a favor Mike, research CCI. Get educated on service animals. People mascarading their pets as service animals has made it difficult for true service animals and you've clearly become a bitter person without compassion. We'll be taking our business to Wag'N Tails in Coronado. Nice drive, clean facility and always happy, helpful staff. read more

He explained to me the best brushes to use between visits and how Millie's coat differs from a purebred poodle. I have a tabby that has been too hot in our heat wave. My cat is 2 and had never been groomed or shaved. I brought him to Pure Grooming- and I am so happy! The cat was a little grouchy- Mike rated Shawn the cat a 4 out of 10 for being grouchy- lol. The owner is too kind! He was very sweet and kind and made sure my cat was comfortable during the process. Now my cat is home and hasn't stopped purring! He is much more comfortable and I feel so much better for our cat Shawn to stay cooler. I would recommend Pure Grooming of their obvious care for animals and their service. The store is clean and staff is helpful and professional. I also found out you can wash your dogs yourself if you like $15 OR on Wednesdays $10. It is close to home for me-- I know I'll be back. Thank your for your great care for Shawn the cat! I really like Pure Grooming but I am surprised no one has mentioned how much time the dog spends there. I have dropped off my older maltipoo at Pure Grooming on three occasions and each time, my dog spent approximately 5 hours at the minimum. In fact, the last time I dropped my dog off, he spent 6 hours there. Apparently they were running behind with the previous client. Nevertheless, each and every time I took my dog there, I felt that each time my dog spent too much time there. My dog already does not like going to the groomers and having him stay there for a long time is just not necessary. They do a good job but for me, I think that they need better time management read more
