He is very knowledgeable and thorough when it comes to skate fitting. I really appreciated David's explanation of all the steps of getting the perfect fit for my boot. Between the heat molding, punching, and modifications he made to my skates, it really was so worth it. (Just be prepared to be in the shop for a good chunk of time!) Today I skated for the first time with the new boots and blades and the sharpening was absolutely perfect, I have never glided like I did today. After the fitting, he sent me onto the ice and encouraged me not only to check the alignment of the blades, but to first warm up and to take my time doing different moves to be sure to feel how the skates fit. She was fitted for a size 1 ice skate and I was hesitant because I had just sized up her sneakers to 2s. I was assured there was plenty of room and deferred to them on it. Of course a month later she was complaining about them being too small. We came back to Peck's and they exchanged them for 2s and only subtracted $20 from the refund for her having worn them for a month. They had some scuffs and the insoles showed her feet print but they were otherwise in pristine condition. It was a better deal than I hoped for and I sincerely appreciate the accommodation of her growing feet. It goes to show how important customer service is because we will for sure be customers for life now (she really loves skating so it seems like we will stick with it, ha see what I did there?). Especially for goalie gear, this is one of the best stores as the goalie specialists are very knowledgeable about proper fitting and models, and are also fun to chat with. Although the prices for the gear are the same as all other hockey/goalie stores, they do have a very wide selection and also some used gear if you're looking to buy discounted equipment for a lot less and don't mind if it's been used a little.
