I was very disappointed with my experience with Kim! During my consultation, I clearly explained that I wanted more dimension in my hair and specifically wanted to move toward a brunette look with only a few subtle blonde highlights. My goal was to avoid becoming significantly blonder. Unfortunately, the final result was the opposite of what I had requested, and my hair ended up much blonder than I wanted. What was particularly concerning was that when I expressed my desire for a brunette look with minimal highlights, Kim responded that it would be "disgusting." I found that comment unprofessional and unnecessarily harsh. Clients should feel heard and respected, even when a stylist has a different professional opinion. To her credit, she did attempt to correct the color by adding lowlights. However, the lowlights did not appear to take, and I was told there was something wrong with my hair rather than being given a clear explanation or solution. I understand that color services can be complex and that results may vary, but I left feeling that my preferences were not fully respected and that the outcome did not reflect the look I had specifically requested. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I would not return and cannot recommend the salon based on my visit. I spent $150 on a gel mani/pedi and while my pedicure turned out okay, my manicure was extremely overpriced for what I got. May was very difficult to work with. I showed her a photo (which I will provide) of my inspiration. She said that she could not do multiple colors like my photo showed, but she could do the French tip the way that it was in the photo. So I compromised and said OK. When I first sat down, I did not notice if May pulled anything out of the sanitary bags that are typically used in nail salons for all of the tools. She began filing my nails with a dirty used nail file. I asked her several times if she could use one that was sanitized. She was acting like she couldn't understand me or that she didn't hear me, but I've gone to her before and I know that she had absolutely no issues with communication prior. She kept ignoring my request until the manager walked over and told her to get a new nail file because he overheard me. Even after the manager asked her to use a new nail file, she finished filing the rest of my hand and THEN she grabbed a new nail file. What is with the attitude? And why are we not using sanitary tools for every single customer? After asking her to replace the dirty nail file, I endured major attitude from her going forward. Almost anytime I spoke to her after this, she would ignore me and stay silent. I asked her if she could bring the French tip all the way up around the sides (like demonstrated in the photo) and she said "this is the best that I can do." Totally dismissive and not what we discussed prior to the appt. You can't just draw a line a little bit higher...? She also told me that she would make sure that my natural whites were not showing beneath the French tip, but as you can see in the photo... she did not do that. It was very obvious that she was in a hurry. She was not interested in really taking the time to make sure that she was listening to what I was asking- which wasn't a lot. On top of this, I scheduled and confirmed an appointment for a manicure and pedicure. My pedicurist did not show up until my manicure was almost over. Why even bother to make an appt here? I scheduled both at once so that I could get them done at the same time. This is why people don't like to go to nail salons. It's important to respect people's time, especially when they are a customer. If my pedicurist was going to be an hour late, I should have been given the courtesy to know that. Today, I broke up with my nail tech! I've always given HONEST and THOROUGH reviews and I seriously do not like leaving one star but today was the last straw! I've been a client at the original 'Top Nails' salon for over 30 years. About 18 months ago, they relocated to a smaller "cramped" location at the opposite end of the strip where they had been for decades, then changed their name. The current owner took over years before the move and that's when it started to become a "money grabbing" business as opposed to a relaxing salon experience! They were constantly raising prices, sometimes twice a year, and always pressuring the girls to upsell you on every little thing. I used to get my hair done, my families haircuts, massages, facials, nails, pedicures, and also buy my products in house. Things started to get 'tense' in there with a male manager but I continued going because I liked my nail technician who I'd been with for 15 years. When they moved and raised their prices (yet again) my nail tech kept my rate from the increase prior, because she wanted to retain me as a client. I had stopped getting any other services there except for fills once every 3 weeks. I always call two or three days in advance to book but there's 'always' a change in front desk help (they've gone through 20 employees I know of) so obviously the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. One month ago, I arrived on time only to have them tell me I have 1/2 hour wait so I waited in my car because there's no place to sit and wait for services. This past Sunday, I made an appointment for today and received a text verification, then put it in my calendar. A few hours before my appointment, I received a call from a woman telling me they made an error and my appointment time is not available and to come in earlier, or reschedule another time. See what I mean? Left hand/right hand! What kind of MANAGEMENT treats long term customers like this? There are plenty of nail salons in this area who have professional management and more relaxed facility than sitting on top of someone at a nail bar! The blame sits on the owner who cannot retain employees! Many times over the years, I've witnessed her and her family come in, sit in the pedicure chairs, and have the employees wait on them hand and foot! It's difficult to watch. On on those days, the ladies run behind schedule. She treats them like her personal property, doesn't tip, and doesn't do anything for the staff during the holidays; the ladies have told us about their disappointments. My pedicure gal who worked there for 25 years, left six ago when the male manager started stealing her tips, but she and I continued to support the older women who have worked there for decades. Of course, half of them have since been squeezed out by younger techs. This morning after the initial call, I received another call from the owner's son asking me to come back in, but when I told him never again, he sent me a text message 'berating' me for not spending more money, while telling me about their 10 other businesses! He told me what good employers they are, all while throwing my nail tech under the bus! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place! I do not recommend them. **Note: As you can see by the scathing comments below they are indeed toxic. This comment is from the owners son who is an 'entitled' young man who will sit in a pedicure chair for hours and let 'senior' women wait on him. His response is basically the original text he sent to me this morning (which I kept) but now he's added in "erratic behavior" along with "racism" then adds a 'made up story' about my nail tech of 15 years, not wanting to do my nails, how pathetic! Who goes to such lengths to badger a long time customer?? For the most part you'd want your customers to be happy but this is a perfect example of what they do and it's a perfect example of who they are--no more needs to be said! I will post a photo of my nails this afternoon. I've been going there for 6 years for pedicures and waxing; the owner is wonderful! She 'works' in her salon, greets every client who walks through the door, treats her employees with kindness and respect, and during the holidays gives clients little gifts of appreciation. Most importantly, they're welcoming! She wanted me to switch over for years but I thought I was remaining loyal--but you can see where that got me! read more

I went to this salon on September 22 because my regular place in Dana Point (where I've never had any issues) was fully booked. Unfortunately, everything about this experience was terrible. The woman who started my nails didn't even say hello or look at me. A few minutes later, I had an allergic reaction to the product she used -- something that has never happened to me before. The owner took over, apologized, and tried to calm me down, but then they all started talking and laughing in their own language, clearly about the situation. It felt so disrespectful and uncomfortable. My nails began to burn badly. I was worried, especially because I'm pregnant. Two of my fingers got burned -- the skin peeled and turned white underneath. The owner said sorry, but not in a professional way. Honestly, they shouldn't have charged me at all after what happened. The next day, two nails broke, and within less than 18 days, all of them were gone because of the excessive amount of gel they applied, and the type of product they use. I didn't want to post a bad review, but I think people should know. Be careful with the products they use here and how they treat customers. Speaking in another language while a client is clearly upset is incredibly rude. I'll never go back and wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone. read more

I get my roots dine every 3 weeks She did everything i asked for and it turned out beautiful I wanted 7N color for my roots and she had it without having to mix 2 colors to get what I wanted that was awesome Then she added a few highlights to even it out. Put a neutralizer on it and softened my layers layers i wanted some shorter peices in front Again she was able to give me everything I wanted flawlessly She has 25 years experience and she did it like a pro I love her technique a lot. I called to see if they had availability, but the phone wasn't answered, so I ended up driving over. Fortunately, they were able to accommodate me early afternoon for a mani and pedi. The ladies who assisted me were great; I ended up getting the deluxe mani and classic pedi (with an additional 10 minute massage). The place is cramped and chaotic, not a mellow relaxing experience. My pre-booked appointment for dip nails and pedicure took over 2 hours, because a dip person was not available. I doubt that the pedicure tools were disinfected (in a ln open cup of tools versus a sealed packet). My dip person -Lee - literally cut me twice, I was bleeding! She also inadvertently buffed/filed my cuticles, leaving them red and inflamed for days. And finally, she almost twisted my thumbs off when doing a final shaping file.
