Oh no, she takes being in the room and healing massage to a different level: she uses healing stones on your feet, puts your hands in warm gloves and basically gives you a full body massage. Massage and facial = yes please!! I'll tell you how good she is: I walked in having a truly awful day, and I walked out knowing and feeling that everything is going to be alright. Now, that's a healing experience.

To her credit, she did attempt to correct the color by adding lowlights. However, the lowlights did not appear to take, and I was told there was something wrong with my hair rather than being given a clear explanation or solution. I understand that color services can be complex and that results may vary, but I left feeling that my preferences were not fully respected and that the outcome did not reflect the look I had specifically requested. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I would not return and cannot recommend the salon based on my visit. I hope this feedback helps future clients and encourages better communication between stylists and their customers.

I showed her a photo (which I will provide) of my inspiration. She said that she could not do multiple colors like my photo showed, but she could do the French tip the way that it was in the photo. So I compromised and said OK. When I first sat down, I did not notice if May pulled anything out of the sanitary bags that are typically used in nail salons for all of the tools. She began filing my nails with a dirty used nail file. I asked her several times if she could use one that was sanitized. She was acting like she couldn't understand me or that she didn't hear me, but I've gone to her before and I know that she had absolutely no issues with communication prior. She kept ignoring my request until the manager walked over and told her to get a new nail file because he overheard me. Even after the manager asked her to use a new nail file, she finished filing the rest of my hand and THEN she grabbed a new nail file. What is with the attitude? And why are we not using sanitary tools for every single customer? After asking her to replace the dirty nail file, I endured major attitude from her going forward. Almost anytime I spoke to her after this, she would ignore me and stay silent. I asked her if she could bring the French tip all the way up around the sides (like demonstrated in the photo) and she said "this is the best that I can do." Totally dismissive and not what we discussed prior to the appt. You can't just draw a line a little bit higher...? She also told me that she would make sure that my natural whites were not showing beneath the French tip, but as you can see in the photo... she did not do that. It was very obvious that she was in a hurry. She was not interested in really taking the time to make sure that she was listening to what I was asking- which wasn't a lot. On top of this, I scheduled and confirmed an appointment for a manicure and pedicure. My pedicurist did not show up until my manicure was almost over. Why even bother to make an appt here? I scheduled both at once so that I could get them done at the same time. This is why people don't like to go to nail salons. It's important to respect people's time, especially when they are a customer. If my pedicurist was going to be an hour late, I should have been given the courtesy to know that. Will not be returning.

I paid $130 for both services and I believe the work is mediocre at best. I feel like my manicure was very rushed because she mentioned she needed to go to Costco before they closed. My appointment was at 5pm, Costco closes at 8pm. After she was finished she did not ask me if I liked my nails or else I would have pointed out the imperfections. Henry did my pedicure. The pedicure overall was very nice and I believe he did a good job. My only problem with the pedicure is I selected the $60 pedicure because I wanted a 15 mins massage as they advertise. I was the only customer is the salon yet Henry got up twice to grab products I assume he forgot to grab. In total I got an 11 mins massage. Maybe I am being nit picky but the $50 pedicure comes with a 10 mins massage. Maybe I should have just opted for that instead and saved some money... Now at the end of the service Nicole asked me if I was satisfied. I was honest with her and showed her how messy my nails were. She tried her best to fix them but as you can see from the photos they are still very fuzzy and not clean. Nicole asked me why I didn't mention this to Hailey and I told her the truth...she didn't ask. For $130 I expected to get at least what I paid for. I did not receive any kind of discount and unfortunately left unsatisfied. I can't see myself coming back. **I also believe it should be noted that the photos of the Botox before & after photos are of the employees.

I drove down from Long Beach to get my lashes filled. I have even modified my appointments to better help accommodate other clients per Carly's request, since we have known each other for so long. But let me tell you about my horror story with Carly. During my last lash fill I was asked how she could make her dog into a "service" dog so she could bring him to work without "getting sued". As someone with a disability who has an actual service dog, this question was offensive and hurtful, technically asking me how to break/bend the law. I left in tears. Days later I received an email stating that I had been refunded and will not be allowed to return as a client from here on out. I tried to reach out to Carly to clarify, never to get a response. I feel it is important that other current clients and potential new clients know of this hugely inappropriate business interaction. I have been dealt a HUGE injustice only to be cold shouldered. She was in the wrong and instead of doing damage control she dropped a client who has been nothing but faithful because SHE made me cry during a lash appointment. All and all, I was punished for having my feelings hurt by a coward who can't clean up her own mess. Way to lose a client and a friend.

I've been getting my lashes done since 2009, way back when they were still unheard of (and thus, my secret super power). As you can imagine, I've had a lot of experiences over the years with different lash technicians. Lots of good, and lots of bad experiences. Still, I find it hard to avoid lash extensions, because they make me look so pretty 24/7 :) I don't really want every girl out there to be pretty and have beautiful eyes, but in my years of experience, I have to support really good lash technicians so they stay in business. I've found my favorite technicians before and kept them a secret from friends and family. But because they didn't get enough clients or whatever, they had to close down shop and work somewhere else. I don't want that to happen to Alma, because it's a real struggle to find someone good at lash extensions especially in Dana Point/San Juan Capistrano area. And yes, I've been to the limited choices you see in the search results for lash extensions in Dana Point/SJC and I was horrified at the awful job I paid for. I immediately regretted it as soon as I saw what they did. No, I don't want to leave negative reviews for that other lash place in DP, but trust me. Don't go anywhere else, but to Alma. Or if you really want to, try a different place and then try Alma. You'll see and feel the difference, literally. I can't speak for San Clemente, but I don't know if they'd be good enough or worth the money. I know for sure that the only thing that matters when finding a lash extension place or technician is that they have to know what they're doing and do it well with quality products. Because if you go somewhere cheap or someone inexperienced/careless/distracted, your lashes can feel really uncomfortable, look obviously fake, don't look any different, you can get an eye infection or irritation or allergy. Or worse --- look absolutely horrifying with spider legs looking eyelashes. Some ladies don't realize that their lashes are not applied well and they don't know the difference. If you look at Alma's work, you will know that lashes are supposed to look natural. Long, beautiful, lush, and voluminous lashes, without obviously looking like you had something done. It's hard to explain, but you have to look at the pictures of her work to see it. That's what you should look for in your lash extensions, you can't tell the lashes are fake. Alma uses very light weight lashes and the lashes are super comfortable, I forget I even have lashes on sometimes. If you've never had lash extensions before, I suggest googling it and doing your best research on the pros and cons. There are some serious points to consider before trying lash extensions for the first time or even the hundredth time. For one, lash extensions are kind of addicting. And two, although it's nice to just wake up pretty, you still have to take care of the lashes. Avoid eye makeup. Absolutely no mascara (not that you'll need it if it's applied correctly). Wash around your eyes. Don't rub your eyes. Don't touch your lashes unnecessarily. Don't sleep on the side of your face. Brush your lashes gently with a tiny brush. No oil based makeup or oil based facial products at all. Stay away from heat like an oven or when the chef at Benihana sets the volcano onion on fire. Apply lash growth serum to minimize lash thinning. And you'll need a "refill" of lash extensions in a few weeks. Yes, I want to be pretty all of the time and it's made possible by lash extensions. If you can look your best all of the time, why not? And with minimal effort! But you know, you do you. We don't all have to be pretty ;)
