South of the Border burger
GR H.

Wow! My vegetarian daughter said it's the best vegan burger she's ever had. She had the South of the Border burger, and even with her extremely low spice tolerance she loved it. I had the Channa Masala wrap and could feel the heat, even with my high spicy tolerance. Also great. The fries were an 11/10. Very friendly and fast service, very cute atmosphere. Great music. Love the vibes here.

Cute spot with lots of plants. So many amazing vegan options. We got four different dishes and they were all delicious. The service was also great. We will be back!

Visiting NC for the weekend and found the best vegan spot! We ordered masala bowl and BBQ platter (September special). The platter was so amazing! If you are around the area, come and try it before September is over! If you are vegetarian or vegan, definitely try it out! The server was very nice and helpful when we are being indecisive with what to get! I wish I was staying in NC longer so I can try different menus as well too!

We visited Pure Vegan Café for the first time without knowing exactly what to expect, and we were pleasantly surprised to discover that it specializes in flavorful vegan Indian cuisine! For lunch, we tried the BBQ Platter, Masala Bowl, Golden Latte, and Chunky Monkey Smoothie. Every dish was fresh, delicious, and truly satisfying. A wise friend once told me that if you want authentic Indian food, look for a place where Indian families gather. Sure enough, we noticed some dining here--which reassured us that this spot is the real deal. And yes, the food absolutely lived up to that expectation! We'll definitely be coming back. If you're in the area and looking for a warm, inviting spot with tasty vegan options, this is a must-visit. Cheers!

Nutritious vegan food at a decent price. We stopped here for lunch and left happy and full. The lady working the counter (Veena?) was welcoming and helpful. It was our first time here so she provided insight on popular choices. We opted for the tikka burger ($10.99), breakfast burger ($12.99), and kale slaw ($4.50). We chose to sit outside and our meal was brought to us. The order was accurate and arrived quickly making it a good spot for short lunch breaks. A water station and more seating is available inside. We enjoyed each of the items but found the texture of the Tikka burger and the flavor of the kale slaw surprising. Although the tikka burger looks crispy, it's not at all. It's very soft. Not an issue if expected, but seeing a crispy burger while biting into a tender patty was disappointing. I really wanted that crunch. If I made this at home I'd put something with a crunchy texture on it like pickles, crispy onions, peppers, etc. Then the kale salad was drowned in dressing. I know it's slaw but it was too much.

This place is great if you have food allergies. I am not Vegan, but I like the fact I can eat the cheese here. I have the burger which is made with impossible meat, it was full of flavor the bun and the cheese were delicious. It was a bit pricy, but it had great flavor. The employee was very helpful and friendly; the outside tables were nice. The burger came with no sides - we ordered the kale salad- not my favorite- it was drowning in dressing; I didn't eat it.

Not as good as years ago, but the worst part was the cleanliness (smell, stains, quality of food, outdoor setup, cold case, etc) and customer service. They were friendly but invasive and did not give us napkins nor silverware with our takeout.

AMAZING FOOD!!! I love this place so much! Came in for the vegan chickn club breakfast and my hubby got a chikn bacon ranch sandwich. He's not a vegan but he really enjoyed it and said the chikn had really good texture. Both our dishes were delicious, and the service was great. The ownership is friendly and welcoming, and the decor + ambience is lovely for dining in. We'll definitely keep coming back! give this place a try if you haven't yet!!!

Enjoyed my visit here! Husband and I came here to try their vegan food for dinner on a Friday evening. The place was small, but had plenty of seating available. Our order also came out rather quickly too which was nice. I got the backyard burger, and he got the chicken sandwich and an order of chili fries, and we also got a jackfruit biriyani and a side order of Mac and cheese to share. My favorite was definitely my burger! It was super flavorful. I also loved my husband's chili fries. The portion was huge and we had to take most of it home! They were super fresh and hot! The Mac and cheez was good too, nice and creamy. I didn't like his chick'n sandwich as much as my burger, but chicken sandwich lovers would definitely enjoy it as it tasted like real chicken! My husband enjoyed it as well. We weren't too used to the flavor of jackfruit from our biriyni, but people who love spicy might like this dish. I would definitely come back again for burger and fries though, and would love to come during lunch to try their juices and mango lassi!!

Side of Tofu Scramble

The name doesn't make this obvious, but this place is a mix of Indian and more American style items. The American style trends more towards the fake meat and cheese kind of thing, while the Indian food is more classic to the cuisine. Stopping in for brunch, I got both an uttapam and a side of tofu scramble. The uttapam was good, but I wasn't sold that is was the best you'd be able to get in an area with as many Indian restaurants as the Triangle. The tofu scramble on the side had some curry spices and finely chopped vegetables and was quite scrumptious. Adding a chai resulted in a very spicy beverage with ginger and other zingy flavors and possibly some tea. I doubt you'd struggle to find this sort of Indian food done well around here, but if you're seeking vegan specifically, then this is the place to look.

Being new to Plant based foods we've decided to go out and try some vegan/plant based foods to help expand our dishes. I've tried a different restaurant before (not this one) and it wasn't good so I was nervous to try another place. And it's no regrets here. The food is delicious and VERY flavorful. We definitely will be back.

For vegans/people with food allergies, this spot is a flavorful oasis of choices! This restaurant has a 100% plant-based menu, with a strong influence of Indian cuisine as well as American dishes. The curry was very flavorful, and the texture of the chick'n was pleasant and close to "the real thing." Cold-pressed juices and smoothies are also available (the truly healthy kind). This spot is great for a quick lunch or dinner, offering inside and outside tables.

I think this place has changed ownership since the last time we came here. However I don't believe this has changed the quality of the food. This review will be short and sweet. I'm not a vegan but this place crush's making awesome vegan food. The buffalo sauce burger is may favorite burger here. Prices are fairly reasonable. The ambience is fine but could be worked on a bit more. Service was quick, we didn't wait more than about 5-8 minutes for our food. Will be back!

Are the burgers handmade or are they just dressed up Impossible Burgers? Thank you

Yes or something of the sort. There is a tikki burger but I think it's a mix. They don't have house-made patties, which would be a really good option for them.

There's so many things on the menu that I still want to try. When we first got to the restaurant we were interested in sitting outside but the host told us the spot that would fit us wasn't available or in the section. However, she went out of her way to talk to her manager and they accommodated us. Off to a great start service wise! That great service continued throughout our meal. Our waiter was super attentive and everything was brought out really quickly. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, both inside and out. It's a very classy spot; very upscale mid-century. I had the stuffed French toast crepe with berries added (egg battered crepe dusted with a cinnamon spice blend, filled with cheesecake custard, topped with maple syrup and house-made whipped cream). Phenomenal. I'm still thinking about that crepe a few weeks later now...I also ordered the Strawberry Citrus Smash (tangerine ginger iced tea, strawberry syrup, lime juice, served iced). Also delicious and not overly sweet. Everything here is great. I highly recommend checking it out. My oneeeee issue is that they don't take reservations. I'm sorry but I don't want to wait around for over an hour to get a table for brunch on the weekend. It's really unfortunate because I've been here with friends before and we've had to leave to go to another restaurant because of such a long wait time. The only reason I was able to try this place after that was because I went during a weekday when family was in town visiting. Many of my friends have jobs that aren't very flexible and busy family lives, so the weekends are the best times to go; but at the same time they don't have a lot of time to spare to waiting. PRESS if you see this - I highly recommend that you reconsider your reservation policy, at least for the weekends!

The place was crowded but there was no wait. I got seated immediately at a table near a column in the middle of the restaurant and Christy came over and asked if I wanted anything to drink. She brought me iced water and gave me time to look at the menu. I wanted to try so many things and I was too optimistic about ordering 3 things and finishing them myself. Good thing I only ordered 2 things! An order of fried catfish with home fries and one egg. And a biscuit with sausage gravy. The fried catfish was salted and well fried. It tasted delicious for my first bite! The home fries were basically cut potatoes, but they weren't very fried or flavored. I wished I ordered the side of apple sauce instead. The biscuit and sausage was good, but a bit too much for one person after eating a separate order already. Definitely bring more people so you can try more things. Also, I wished I had asked for sausage gravy on the side so I can try the biscuit on its own first as well. Furthermore, I would have more time to eat the catfish so I wasn't worried about the biscuit getting soggy. Christy came to check up on me every now and then. The place was buzzing with people and decorations so I didn't feel so alone. When it was time to pay, Christy brought me the check for me to pay at the cash register. Both Christy and the cashier were so friendly! The restaurant does have a women's and a mens restroom if needed.
