How much does cleaning solar panels improve their output?…read more I had my solar panels cleaned recently by @sudandsqueegie. I had them cleaned only a few months earlier by another company, but I recleaned them because two panels were producing lower output and looked obviously dirty. The other panels did not look like they needed cleaning. I was surprised to see that the cleaning improved the output of all the panels from an average of about 340 Wh per panel to about 540 Wh, an increase of about 58%! The first picture is a drone shot of the panels, showing the two panels that were obviously dirty. The first panel picture shows the output of all panels before cleaning, and the second panel picture shows the output after cleaning. The panel output measurements were taken within 1 hour of each other at around 1 pm. It was a partially overcast day, so the output is usually much greater. However, it shows the amount of improvement possible with simple cleaning of the panels, despite them not appearing obviously dirty to the naked eye. It turns out the two panels that looked obviously dirty had cracks in the glass surface, and most of the discoloration was dirt that had seeped underneath the glass coating and could not be removed by cleaning. Surprisingly, not only did the surface cleaning of the two "dirty panels" improve, but it also improved the other panels that did not look like they needed cleaning! The original company that did the cleaning used a brush on a long pole to drip deionized water onto the panels. @sudandsqueegee used a long pole with two rotating brushes, which seemed to be more effective. They were very efficient and professional in their work. I recommend them highly.

Sometimes honesty isn't always the best policy!!…read more I told them my house had just been painted so they charged me extra to scrape off paint overspray. $600 to be exact!!! I assumed they did a good job and tipped the guys well. Then I noticed ALL the paint overspray was still there. And then I remembered that I never saw them use a ladder and I never saw either of them scraping any paint with a razor blade. My honesty did NOT pay off. So I wrote back to them explaining the situation (with some of the pics you see here) and they apologized and set up a "touch up" appointment. That's fine. I mean it's more time that I had to spend waiting for them except....THEY NEVER SHOWED UP! And when I called to ask where they were, they started backtracking. "How many windows are we talking about"? "Did the painters use masking tape?". I'm like "Of course they used masking tape and anyway...WHERE ARE YOU???" So that starts an email thread where they tell me that scraping paint off would take more time and that I would have to pay them more money. I ALREADY PAID YOU MORE MONEY TO SCRAPE THE PAINT OFF!!! $600 to be exact!!! They're now telling me that they didn't realize now much paint needed to be scraped off. Well, look for yourself. Does that look like something they should charge me MORE money for, or something they should have cleaned off in the first place. It's hard to take pictures of stuff on windows but I did my best. Save yourself the HASSLE and use a different company. These people don't know how to run a business, they don't keep their word, they don't show up and they just are not good peeps. EPILOGUE: Well, you can tell from his long, rambling response that he's lying. It's kinda like Walter White in Breaking Bad whenever he tried to lie. He just went on and on. But I know the truth. Had I not told them my house was just painted, I would have gotten the same service for less money. They used my honesty against me and that pisses me off. I'm old enough to remember a slogan that businesses of all kinds used to use. And it's a simple one: "The customer is always right" Not anymore. So what can you do? Fight back. Write an honest review. Demand your money back (In the end, the credit card company sided with me and I got a FULL refund) . Remember YOU have the power. You're not the little guy; You're the customer. And the customer is always right!

Review Update: After…read moremy initial review, Eric (the sales rep) and Matt (the owner) of Sunline personally reached out to me and was apologetic about the situation. They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.

Very satisfied with the service I received from Evergreen Solar Clean. I have twenty solar panels…read moreon my home's roof that are just one year old and they were filthy with tons of dust and bird poop. Recent winter storms were just not enough to get them thoroughly clean and producing as much power as possible. Sent a text to Evergreen Solar Clean and other companies to get some quotes. Most other companies did not service my area and the one that did was way out of the ballpark! Evergreen Solar Clean was a lot more competitive with their bid and I decided to make an appointment. Blake was able to get me on their schedule and gave me a three hour time frame. About thirty mins. before my appointment, I received a text that his technician, PJ, was on the way. PJ promptly showed up at my door and after short introductions, started getting all his equipment ready and got to work. What I really loved about Evergreen Solar clean is that they use deionized water that they carry on their trucks and Sola-Tec roller brush cleaners, which are rolling brushes attached to wheels that glide across the solar panels with the deionized water flowing through them. You have to checkout their website to see this in action, it's amazing! PJ got to work and maybe about an hour later, he was all done and my solar panels look like they're brand new! All clean and shiny! I was so impressed with the job that I went ahead and signed up for twice yearly cleanings, just to ensure that my solar panels are producing as much power as possible and to keep them looking clean and shiny on my roof!
