And why is the hotel found on Yelp as Tranquility Springs because the spa is inside the Opechee Inn, but okay. So tonight, after several different visits to the restaurant and hotel gift shop (since Chaos and Kindness moved downtown--this is the only gift shop within walking distance to us), unfortunately, I am not thrilled with the hotel. Typically, while we wait for O Steaks restaurant to open, we sit quietly in the 'lodge room' or outside of the hotel entrance (under cover) for a few minutes. The restaurant opens at 4pm and since my husband had a stroke three years ago, we have to take our time walking. We have never had an issue, nor are there any signs saying "hotel guests only," so we rest in the lodge room (which is adjacent to the side door to the restaurant inside the hotel)--until today. We are reasonable people. And because I knew we got there even earlier than usual today, I specifically bought something at the gift shop ($15 Christmas gift for a family member), as a gesture of gratitude for being able to sit in the air conditioning in that EMPTY side room. So, here comes some hotel woman in just as we were getting ready to leave the room and enter O Steaks and asked if we were staying at the hotel. I replied no, that we're locals and were just waiting on the restaurant to open. THEN she informed us that they want to save the room for hotel guests! Ugh. Okay. Save the empty room! I was shocked and annoyed. We went to the restaurant immediately. But I will never go back into the Inn again. Believe it.

I found Lake Opechee on Expedia and went for it. The room was really big and nice. Two queen beds for me and me, a refrigerator, TV, seating area, desk, etc. On my first morning I had to be somewhere at 8am so I stopped at their free breakfast. I'm not sure what others are complaining about. There was coffee, tea, muffins, cereal, milk, yogurt, etc. It was fine. The employees I interacted with were all friendly. Cons would be the shower was a bit small, the water pressure was a little low, and my room was on the restaurant side of the building and there was some noise from that as the restaurant gets quite busy. One more thing I would add is the window coverings do not offer to blackout the morning light so plan on not having full darkness. All in all a very nice stay. Not cheap but nice!

Tucked into the corner of the basin of Lake Winnipesaukee with easy access to the "big lake," but all the quiet of a much smaller lake, this spot is truly a gem. It's easy to fall in love with Sunset Lodges while reading on their large dock, waterskiing around the basin or enjoying a refreshing swim. The cabins are charming, with big windows that look out on the lake and large stone fireplaces to help warm you up on a chilly evening. We also really enjoy that the lovely town of Wolfeboro is just a few minutes down the road, making shopping for groceries or grabbing a quick breakfast out very convenient. This is a great place for families and groups of people vacationing together.

Lights weren't even on yet, but they were cleaning the pool, the locker rooms were being moped, as was the sauna; also all the tables were being cleaned too. So nice to see that things are being cleaned and I would assume this is daily. Thanks to Yee S. Chi for a very clean room - spotless. The walls are also very thin so be prepared to hear everything your upstairs do and say at night. The amenities building has a gym which is useable but has outdated equipment. Overall it was fun but could use updates all around.

Our room was large and has three beds. This was perfect for me and my two teenagers. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub. There is no breakfast. They have coffee and granola bars available for free. The carpets were dated. The hallways were dark. Reminded us of The Shining. The hot tub was very small. One of the lights had fallen out of the pool and was laying on the bottom of the deep end. We only paid $139 per night. Off season prices. We would stay here again. But I am not sure I would want to pay extra summer rates for a hotel that needs some updated.

Aka what are you walking on in skates? Is it safe? We have no idea. We ended up tredging down on foot and sitting on the ice to put our skates on. Nice amenity but not well thought out or taken care of - where is the sledding on property? But while we were staying here we found many dead bugs inside of our room along with our share of alive bugs. Some were inside of our beds. The on the go breakfast had relatively good food and the hot chocolate was very good. But the coffee was horrible! It was all muddy and sluggish. I do want to mention that upon arrival one of our party members said that one of our queen beds was slanted and on our last night she completely rolled out of the bed and hit her head on the nightstand! And around the same time our toilet stopped working in the middle of the night and wouldn't flush. We heard that other people also had a similar issue. Our curtains had moth holes in them. The clock was behind by eight minutes. And one final thing is that our air conditioner had mold on the vent which could potentially be dangerous. But overall, despite the bad things that happened, it wasn't a horrible experience. The rooms were clean upon arrival. The service was really good. And that's why I left a three star review. But still, I wouldn't return.

We stayed at the NASWA in one of the rooms overlooking the beach and lake. It was so relaxing...and fun to just walk down to the beach and have lunch at the NazBar and Grill right on the water. It is so fun to watch all the boats pass by on their way through the channel. And, they have a new restaurant called Blue Bistro. This is a perfect place to eat dinner...the food was exceptional, I had the Island Spiced Salmon...OMG it was the best. Best I've had north of Boston! If you like the big chain hotels...this isn't the place for you. But, if you want to stay at a family run classic New Hampshire Lake Resort, the NASWA is the perfect getaway. read more

Our family vacationed at the NASWA in July, 2016. The NASWA is a wonderful place to stay and loved it, because there is so much to do, that you don't have to leave the premises. The staff was very cordial, upon checking in. We had beachfront rooms and the view was breathtaking. The food was delicious and the service staff was very pleasant. Cynthia, who is the owner, was wonderful and treated us with warmth and kindness. The NASWA has a Caribbean atmosphere, with music on the beach each day. If your looking for some rest and relaxation, don't hesitate to book a reservation at the NASWA. I highly recommend it. read more

Our family and friends spend a fantastic week at the Naswa each year and have done so for over ten year s running now. We would not consider anywhere else. We are always treated well, enjoy and appreciate the location and features and simply have a terrific time. It is a great combination of traditional and new, not a fancy spot ( though the Blue Bistro is a very nice venue for breakfast and dinner and the food is exceptional always). The convenience of boat docks is a truly special feature for us and unique on the lake. Love it, love it, love it. Can't wait for next summer. Thanks Naswa! read more

My children and I have been going to the NAZWA for just about a decade now. We started in a one-room cabin and now have our annual "home away from home" on the beach. When I was much younger and came up to Laconia with my guys we always stayed at a run-down place across Paugus Bay and I was thinking "I want to stay there someday!" Well, years later, that wish came true with my kids and we have so many great memories. We have been coming to the NASWA for 32 years and always have a wonderful time! Our vacation group has expanded over the years and we now book 6 cottages between all of us when we go. My 3 children as well as ourselves always make great memories! The food is delicious both in the Blue Bistro and NazBar, the staff is great and the new docks are amazing! Hope, Karen & Cynthia are like our summer family we are reunited with every year as well as Patty. We are looking forward to year 33 next year and many more there after! read more

I can't say enough about this place. 5 stars all the way! If you are in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire you NEED to spend sometime here. A week, a night..a day; even dinner or just a few drinks. The atmosphere and scenery are so splendid, I try not to miss a summer visit. This place is what summer is all about, from the colorful waterfront beach cottages, to the fun sandy-beach floored outside bar, to the highly recommended restaurant, everything is perfect! We have stayed at the NAZ for a number of years now and it just keeps getting better!! We love the improvements made throughout the property - bathrooms redone in Lakeview rooms, the dining room, docks, etc. Whenever we have had an issue, it was resolved quickly and with an apology for the inconvenience. Went there 2 yrs ago. Stayed in building across the street. Room had balcony. Nice view of lake. Staff was nice and accommodating. When making reservations mentioned it was our anniversary. They took my Amex card over the phone for the reservation, so I called by phone to cancel it. Further, the groom's family hosted a cocktail party there Friday night before the wedding. They were out of napkins and cutlery all the time. They seemed short staffed. And were SO inattentive that they had turned around a computer calculating the cost of each wine and/or beer so all the guests could see what the groom's family was paying! So inappropriate. They charged my Amex 9/6 and I called them 9/12. They said that it's too late to reimburse, very difficult for them administratively. Really? This is the cancellation policy they sent me: CANCELLATION POLICIES: Your Inn room reservation has a 72-hour cancellation policy. Her waitstaff are very hardworking and always happy, making it evident they respect and appreciate their boss. I've witnessed Jenn working alongside her staff on many occasions, running food and/or drinks, bussing tables, and even making omelettes at the Mother's Day brunch! She is wonderful at her job, ensuring each guest has the perfect experience! The food and drinks at O'bistro are always delicious and the atmosphere is a perfect combination of laid back and high class. Arrive dressed as you please and fit in whether it's formal or casual!

We immediately vacated the premises out of concern for our safety. The Inn not only refused to refund us but also showed zero sympathy. In clear defiance of public health guidelines, the owner told us we should have stayed in the room and should not have left. The owner said that I needed to "act like an adult," called me "an entitled little horror," and screamed, "This is New Hampshire and not a war zone in Ukraine!" She blamed me for waking them up at 3 am and even accused me of bringing the bat into the room. She was inconsistent, at times saying there was no bat and at other times saying it was just a fruit bat. Bat exposure aside, their costumer service is the opposite of hospitable, with zero regard for our health and safety. Also the room was dirty, with dust balls and no hand soap.

We loved the location so close to the boardwalk and beach, beautiful and quiet in the morning for my running pleasure, then nice and happening once the family woke up and we went back down. Reasonable rates. We would stay again. Loved relaxing on the porch at night reading stories to our kids. Super cute, they loved playing out on the lawn as well.

Since i had some credit to be used for hotel stay we decided to get a scenic sweets with king bed which is best and most expensive room available at the Inn. When we got there no one was there and an envelope left with my name and instruction for parkings and room with a map. It was bit difficult to navigate since it was dark but we manage to find the parking and grabbed our stuff and went up to the room with our code. Room was spacious and cozy. Building seemed to be old but seemed to be renovated and bathroom was nice and clean. Once we got settled we start to notice bugs flying, stuck on furniture, by the window and on the ceiling. Since it's in the woods i understand if it's 1 or 2 but it was more like 10+. I had to get rid of them myself because no one was around and was bothering my partner since she was afraid of bugs. Managed to somehow sleep through the night despite noise of annoying heater and bugs flying against the window and curtains. Next day, We woke up early to leave for hiking for the day. I left a message on the number they had for service to informed the management of the situation and to have them resolve it during the day as we would be out for the day. We spent most of the day out and we returned hoping that situation has resolved. Unfortunately within few minutes of arriving i once again noticed bugs flying and had to deal with them myself because place becomes empty at 8:00pm and does not have front desk or personal after 8:00pm which is odd for a hotel. We were too tired to deal with the issue so we just left for bed. Next day when we checked out I was going to talk to the staff but they are always in and out and office was open but no one was there so I decided to send message again to the text asking for them to fix the problem for next customer and request some kind of compensation for dealing with this issue and not having it resolved during our stay. Unfortunately they declined refund or any form of compensation. With the experience we had and the poor customer service I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Other reviews seemed to indicate decline in service after change in management which may be the reason. I did want to like the place and i did give a fair chance but i will not be returning here.

Kevin and Jen no longer own the Inn. The owner is never present and they don't serve breakfast anymore. It's grab and go, choice of 2 pastries an apple and coffee/tea. The staff was very nice and no issues there. At night it turns out there is no staff there. They rotate a staff member between 3 properties every few hours until 11:00. Also, we were on a 40th anniversary 3 week road trip and this is the only place we stayed that didn't even acknowledge it was our anniversary.The restaurant is still very good and the rooms are nice and we always stay in the suite with a beautiful view. My wife and I feel this Inn has lost its "heart" since Kevin and Jen sold it

I am a member of RCI. I made reservations on 12/19 and flew in from SFO overnight to get here. When…read moreI got here I was told by Sue at the front desk that RCI had canceled my reservation. After calling RCI and telling them that my wife and I flew across the country to get here, they were unmoved. All I was told is that they sent me an email. Fortunately for my wife and I Sue contacted her manager and she told me that the manager would handle future conversations with RCI. Sue then told RCI the same thing and checked us in to a beautiful 2 bedroom unit for the week. Not only is this place lovely the people that work here are very empathetic.
