We live in Downers Grove and after 2 days of storms we found that we had seepage and mold in our lower level office. They were at my neighbors house today doing some work and they left garbage out in front of my house on the street.

I can only recommend this company if you have a degradation kink. You see I had a leaky ceiling and mitigation got done quickly. They received their second payment in November and it took them another 3 months to actually come in and finish the job. When I asked the project manager Rush why they were cutting corners, losing pieces to light fixtures, leaving light fixtures hanging by wires, leaving stain on the base boards, and more he decided instead of having a conversation like a normal human to start yelling at me in my own home. Now I have worked for companies like this for years and never have a seen someone especially in a position of power treat customers like that. Honestly one star is being nice considering after Rush blew up on me he didn't even have the balls to come back in and apologize to me. read more

One fateful day, I noticed a small bubble in my wall paint. I touched it, and a hole of smelly moldy water leaked down my wall. Over the next day, the ~20' x 10' wall deteriorated rapidly (cause, unknown breach in mortar tuck pointing on exterior brick wall). Turned out the entire interior wall was mold infested and needed to be demolished and restored. I'm fortunate to have a great HOA. They called on their preferred vendor, PuroClean. Upon learning this, I called PuroClean, and Alan answered. Upon introducing myself, Alan quickly recognized my name and circumstance. He thoughtfully detailed the entire process and timeline, patiently answering my questions along the way The technicians, Mario and Anthony, were very courteous, knowledgable, and took great care of my belongings. They covered the floor, and installed a heavyweight plastic sealed enclosure. Behind the sealed area, they efficiently demo'd and removed the drywall, treated all surfaces, and hauled 15 huge trash liners down 6 flights of stairs. They even removed and protected the window trim and baseboards so they could be reinstalled! The most remarkable thing how clean everything was after they finished. I would have never known they were there. Start to finish - 5 hours. Thank you Mario and Anthony - great job! I highly recommend the PuroClean team! But I hope I never have to call them again. :) P.S. If you're told that the HEPA blowers are super loud and disruptive, they're really not at all. read more

Had a bit of a frustrating experience with Puroclean. Had to follow up several times to get someone to come and give me a quote. Once they inspected the mold, I had to follow up after not hearing back for a couple of weeks with a quote. I then decided to go with someone else for the mold removal. Turns out, they had sent me a quote (a couple of weeks after inspection) but it went to my spam, so I did not see it. Now I am being invoiced $175 for the "inspection" where they did not explain the extent of the damage or provide any information to me besides the quote. Their quote was also higher than competitors and did not include drywall repair. read more

Called to have someone come out for a quote about water damage and spoke with a woman who said someone would call me back and that there might be a $150 charge to come and if I used used the service that $150 would be applied to the balance. Called during polar vortex burst pipe. They said they would be out same day. No call, no show. Called next day and they said, sorry it was crazy out there, we will for sure come out today. No call, no show. Now floors are ruined. If they were upfront from the get-go and said "sorry we are slammed, nobody can come out for 48 hours" or whatever, I'd understand and keep calling people until I could get someone out. I hate people like this that are not straightforward with you. How are you going to trust them with your property if they start off with lie after lie? PASS. read more

Alan was SO great on the phone. He called us back right away, answered all of our questions, and followed up very quickly with the answers to other questions that he was unable to answer on the spot. He gave us a quote over the phone based on our description of the problem. All around, they seem to run a really solid business. Full disclosure, in the end we did not end up using the company just due to circumstantial reasons, as well as the fact that our project started to morph in a direction we weren't expecting. I can't actually attest to the skill of the work done by the team at PuroClean, hence the 4 stars. I had a small mold problem and Scott came out to take a look. After poking and prodding a bit, he told me that for a job that small, I could probably take care of it myself (or get a general handyman to) and that their services are too expensive for something like that. He gave me tips on how to clean the area and what to look for. He was extremely friendly, showed up right on time, and generally made me happy I called them. If I ever do have a larger mold problem, I will definitely give them a call first. read more

Since moving to Chicago two years ago I have learned that you can't trust many repair men to come in and give you an honest evaluation. I had a plumber tell me he needed to destroy my bathroom wall because of a hair clog, electricians who charged an arm and a leg because they had to drive an extra couple of blocks, and another Mold Remediation company who gave me an estimate for two grand to repair and clean a 2x2 square of drywall in my bathroom. "We will just bill your insurance," they said. I called Scott and Alan who, since this was my first dealing with a mold issue, walked me through the process of cutting out the drywall on my own so that Scott could come out an inspect the mold issue. The inspection was free, Alan told me, because its a slower time of year. Imagine that! Instead of charging someone more because its slow, they actually offered to assess the situation for FREE! I fully expected to get screwed by the inspector though, figuring that he would tell me I had mold even though there was no visible evidence. Scott did the opposite though. He looked at my work, said, "Good job," and explained that there was no mold. So I actually never had to pay these guys a cent. They were willing to walk me through the process of removing a mold situation in my house without billing my insurance. Imagine, the first company I called gave me a $2,000 estimate for work I did in an hour with stuff I bought at Home Depot. If I ever have a big job I definitely know who I'll call. Don't trust anyone else! Flooding in the upstairs apartment resulted in major ceiling, wall and floor damage in mine. The other two companies who assessed the damage barely looked around before determining everything needed to be ripped open and the insulation needed to be replaced. Demolition. Scott suggested we try major dehydrators and fans first, since we were in the first 72 hours. He was onsite at 7am on a Saturday morning, and when they retested on Monday, the walls and ceilings were dry. Now the apartment needs only cosmetic repairs. A unit that I rented out previously had tenants who cooked with a lot of curry. When the new tenant moved in they complained of the smell still lingering and that it started to make their things smell. PuroClean quickly came to the unit to access the situation. They were very professional and made me feel like they'd get the job done. The first machine they used didn't quite remove the smell so they brought in a second machine, an ozone machine, and this completely removed the smell from the unit. They really didn't quit until the smell was gone and I'm grateful for that. From start to finish we had a fantastic experience with these guys! Scott was prompt for the initial appointment and explained the remediation process and how Puroclean operates. After taking several measurements and pictures, he sent over a very detailed cost estimate - several pages including pictures. I was really impressed with the thoroughness of their estimate and transparency of what is involved. A couple other companies I had quote the remediation work gave me lump sum estimates - with no idea what was being done and how long it was going to take. A big mystery... The quality of Puroclean's work was excellent and the site lead Mario was very professional and on-time for all appointments. I just got off the phone with Puroclean and am so glad I gave them a call! We are new to Illinois and never had a basement before, and therefore never had to deal with mold concerns. Irresponsible and think they're above rules. One of their trucks was parked in front of my garage (despite the no parking-do not block garage signs), blocking me from getting in. When I called, I got the runaround on the phone, first telling me they needed to collect my information (why?) and then telling me they didn't have any trucks in my area. It wasn't until I suggested I call a tow truck instead that they magically found the employees who parked their truck in front of my garage. I would never use a company that thinks they can blatantly ignore posted signs and just do whatever they want. read more

The reason I am not giving my updated review a 5 is because after I was not able to get a hold of anyone, another owner in my building contacted PuroClean and was able to get a hold of someone right away (even with Scott being out). She spoke to Marco and was able to get Marco to come out and look at our mold issues. My husband meet with Marco and really liked him over other companies we had come out. I did a Google search and PuroClean came up when it came to me looking for a company that could fix the potential mold problems at my house. Scott answered my call, and within 5 minutes realized his company was not set up to fix my problems. In spite of that, Scott spent the next 20 minutes on the phone with me, walking me through what my problem was and recommending other companies that could do the work for me, the whole time knowing I wouldn't be making any money off of me. Nasty things were floating around and the place reeked. Even on a Sunday night, Scott answered the phone and set up a site visit for first thing the next morning.
