There is a new taco pie: beef and chicken with street taco toppings like cilantro, Pico de gallo. So good. Shrimp Alfredo pie, meat lovers is insane here. Stop in and check them out. Every time we go here everything is great. The wings and fingers, and all the sauces are delicious. The hot barbecue is out of this world. Great pizza as well as good sandwiches. Found this place a few months ago and started regularly ordering every couple of weeks or so because the pizza was great. At first. And at first, the delivery was pretty quick, maybe 30 minutes. But it's been slowly degrading, pizza became unimpressive, and delivery time getting longer and longer. Tonight, I ordered at 6:37 and it didn't arrive until 8:17. I called the place twice (estimated delivery was 7:30 which is still pretty long) and they told me I didn't order at 6:37 but at 7:10. I had a verification text from them at 6:37!!! They blamed the "Slice" app. But if this app is responsible for a 30 minute delay, why do you even use them??! I ordered directly from their purple pizza website!! I wanted hot food after a long day but ended up going to bed without dinner because this ruined my appetite and my evening. I had told other people about this place, now I'll have to tell them how very disappointing this experience was. Time to find a new place. read more

The mural on the wall shows the Sphinx and pyramids along the Nile in Egypt. Then I heard one of the men behind the counter speaking something that sounded like Arabic. I realized I was in my first Egyptian pizza shop. Why not?! They certainly have a huge display of pies under glass for people to choose from. Buffalo Shrimp, BBQ Beef, Cheesesteak, Chicken Parm, in addition to regular and mushroom standard oldies, to name but a few. Their lunch deal is two slices and a large soft drink for $7. I've seen that offer around town for less, but when you get the actual slices in front of you, and pick them up, it is obvious that the weight of each piece is equal to two in those other joints', so in fact you are getting half a pie for that price. For those who value weight and max load for lunch, this is the place for you. A traditionalist when it comes to tomato pie, I went for a slice of regular and mushroom. The crust was thick and supportive of the topside. With the first bite I knew that I had ordered far too much. There was a thick layer of cheese atop the substantial base, which was more substance than I enjoy on pizza. The flavor of the tomato sauce was drowned by the cheese, making for more of an open face grilled cheese experience, rather than a true pizza chew. Fine if you like cheesy cheese pie, but not exactly what I was hoping for. I prefer a lighter experience where all the elements are apparent, and the topping an accent to the main attraction, as opposed to dominating it. I knew I couldn't finish these heavyweights, so by command decision I ate half of each and left the balance behind. Didn't feel called to take them home. If you enjoy heavy pie, Purple Pizza is calling your name. They certainly have a large selection of flavors. However, if you are more inclined to a lighter bite, and like a thinner crust and balanced top load, you may have to look elsewhere. Copying my review from the old listing: This is a complicated place, evoking mixed feelings. I became aware of it many years ago as one of the last places to acquire Cluck U food, which, as far as fast junk food goes, is just heavenly. So criminally unhealthy, but so good it will stop you in your tracks! I adore the Little Roman Sandwich - a real chicken breast, deep fried, and slathered in a garlic sauce and topped with cheese, served on a nice bun, with a side of Clucker Spuds - Cluck U's version of a chunky fry. Really damn good. The fried, bone-in chicken is also phenomenal - different from the Colonel's, different from Popeye's. It's served in honey (not oil as one reviewer mentioned), and as a huge fan of the sweet and savory combo, I just love it. Chicken comes with a biscuit too - which is more like a fritter, and plopped right in a pool of honey - and also so damn good. You should try it. That is, if you have the time. The staff will generally warn you that they take a long, long time to make their chicken, and that is not an understatement. You will wait for it. If you can, you should - it's worthy. I do not doubt the other reviews that say their food was never delivered - I get the sense there could be an "out of sight, out of mind" attitude in that place. So, when you wait, do it in the restaurant, and preferably with a rammy kid, and they will not forget about your food. I was in about 2 weeks ago, and they don't appear to use the Cluck U trademark anymore, but have the same menu items, which is a relief. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak, and my son had a two piece chicken snack, and it took FOREVER. Luckily the AC was a relief for us and we had no other plans. The food was excellent, and we happened to go on a Monday, and most lunches - with fries and a drink, were in the $4.50 range. So, I spent under $11 with tax that day, and had food for 3 meals. I've also eaten my share of their Italian offerings, and I have never been disappointed. One note - I do not like their pepperoni at all, but that it's a personal preference. It's smoked and I'm not partial to that flavor, but other people like it a lot. Not a quality thing, at all. Otherwise, I love their pizza, calzones, and strombolis -- which take quite awhile to arrive at the table, too. Just not as long as the chicken. Cleanliness is not appalling but they definitely have a relaxed attitude about sweeping up, so between that and the outstandingly ridiculous wait times for food (particularly chicken), this is a 3 star place. If they could pull it together on the service side, I'd be happy to give them more stars. Food is definitely memorable. read more

Ridiculously poor service. I'd give less than one star if the app allowed it. Ordered a late dinner, and was quoted an hour for delivery -- a little long, but acceptable. Two and a half hours later, it still hadn't arrived... no call, no notice, nothing. After arguing with the menu app helpdesk people to get a refund, we finally get a call AT MIDNIGHT from the delivery man that he's outside (like we usually open the door for people at midnight). I order 2 pepperoni and a plain and I paid around $7 and change, when I saw the slices they were so small like domino's pizza small, the taste was ok. Awesome food but awful employee. Could be 5 star if they get rid of the delivery man. First time visitor, passing by. Looked up menu online. The vegetable medley sounded intriguing. I had to catch the attention of one of the employees to take my order, but he was pleasant and quick with the order. The problem came when a disgruntled employee began yelling and cursing and threatening the other workers and owner. In addition to a famiky already there, other customers had come in to pick orders. This did not affect the irate employee's tone or use of curses and threats. Children were in the restaurant & he didn't care. While he went on with his tirade, one customer waiting for her to-go order told me that he was also the delivery man. She told me how he insulted her, her house, and her 10-year old daughter. She said "it's a good thing I love the pizza here or I'd never come here again." She refused to get delivery any longer because of the employee, which is why she comes into the restaurant now to get her pizza. I had to interrupt one of the cooks at whom the employee was shouting to ask about my order, but I did get it hot and fresh. It looks and is delicious (see pic). I hesitate to come back because I felt that the employee was very disrespectful and that the owner or manager should have made him go into the back to talk in private. But this probably would not have worked either because they did do that as I prepared to leave. The employee was still so loud you could still hear him repeating his curses and complaints. He should be fired; there are too many people who would like a job. He only serves to keep people away. Maybe this post will be a wake-up call. read more
