    Cheesesteak and fries.

I ordered here for the first time today. My cheesesteak was delicious and the staff is very nice. I'd order again.

Stopped in for lunch a couple of times and enjoyed both the sandwiches and pizza. Counter service was very good, dining area was generally clean (you may find a table that has not been cleared yet but the employees will get to it) The decoration is basic and utilitarian for a pizza place.

So let me start by giving the positive first. The pizza was really good, they definitely didn't disappoint in that area, I also ordered a cheese steak for my coworker and that was good as well! The reason I gave them three stars is because I walked into their restaurant after placing my order on the phone and when I walked in I was the only customer. There were at least 6 ppl in the grill area and one guy talking to his driver about transactions. NO one said anything to me, 2 minutes later another woman walked in and she was leaning against the counter, again no one said anything and at this time I actually made eye contact with the oldest man behind the counter but yet he said nothing. A white woman walked in and less than two minutes the older man asked if he could help her? I'm thinking to myself like wow. After he cashed her out he then helped the lady that was leaning against the counter then she left out. At no point does anyone say anything to me. A woman was into the restaurant and he ask can he help her and then finally I'm like Sr I'm waiting as well, so he mumbles something and then ask me what did I order. I tell him and then he says you don't say anything. ‍, neither did the other two women but you did your job then. He gives me the total which was different from the total that was given to me on the phone and his accuse was its taxes. I'm completely fine with taxes but my issue is when I asked at the end of me placing my order, I didn't say oh give me the total before taxes, I said what's my total? Then when I asked for my receipt, again he made a comment but it was very low so I couldn't make it out what he said. The last thing that irritated me and I'm starting to see this with a lot of places. Why don't restaurants like to give napkins any more, they literally stuff your food in these containers and there's no utensils along with any napkins so I'm suppose to wipe my hands on my clothes or something.

The pizza is pretty good. The bread is soft with a crunch from the bottom. The workers are mostly middle to older Italian men. They are nice and try to keep the line moving. They have a decent amount seating, which I sat in and the pizza had stringy cheese (I love it). Very clean and a nice interior design!

In Trenton for a state house meeting and as noon time rushes all I can think of is Tomato Pie. Trenton's Italian community for years has produced awesome Tomato Pie. Janet Evanovich always makes sure that Stephanie Plum not only gets Ranger but that she gets some Tomato Pie. So, I did what any good YELPER does ... I did a YELP search. A 15 minute walk from the Gold Dome was Covello's. Reviews mentioned their Tomato Pie and it was off on a fast pace ... each step had me savoring that special "pizza" that is created from gravy or do Trentonians call it sauce topping a nicely baked dough crust. Perhaps some oregano ... romano ... simplicity in the flavors but when done right oh so special. What a great look from the street ... my mouth started to water this looked like a classic Italian ... you know the kind of place where the guys from that now out of business family group used to hang out ... pizzeria. I walk in ready .... I stare down at the pies on display .... where is my classic Tomato Pie? I see something with basil across the sea of red but more basil than tomato .... where is the simple pie. I almost said can I speak to the pizzaiolo but instead with a look of sadness I asked for tomato pie as if it was kept in a treasure display case elsewhere. The young woman said ... 'that's it.' That's it???? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Having been ready for a couple of slices of TOMATO PIE I really didn't want a basil thing. If I wanted a TOMATO PIE with basil I would order it just like I would order mushrooms on one (Ok, so I wouldn't ever order anything on a Tomato Pie but I just want you to get a sense of what seemed so wrong to me.). So, give me a slice ... and ... she warned me off of their Alfredo pie and I am not quite sure why but perhaps I didn't seem like a creamy sauce type. But, I picked a slice of Buffalo Chicken, which looked like Buffalo Chicken Pizza. And the slices were brought to be table nice and hot. The Buffalo chicken slice was the winner and tasted just like Buffalo Chicken pizza should, which made me happy. The BASIL tomato pie ... well I do like basil it's just that I wanted a TOMATO PIE but the slice was good too. So, the 3 stars are wrapped in my disappointment but lets just say 3 1/2 leaning slightly towards 4 but I won't be back. Next time in Trenton I will again search for a real TOMATO PIE!

    Cesar Salad. Huge!

This is an update since my last review. I went to Covello's once, before the pandemic. I ordered a chicken parmigiana sandwich and French fries. I paid for it and then sat down and ate. The fries didn't come out with the sandwich. They never were served to the table and I wasn't given any to go. So, I was ripped off for fries and I didn't think the sandwich was that fantastic for the hype of the place. Well, I went a couple days ago and it was a very different experience. The man behind the counter was friendly. This time I wasn't asked to pay until I was finished. They didn't have veal parmigiana, so I ordered the chicken parmigiana, instead, despite my experience a few years, earlier. It was excellent. Great sauce. Lots of cheese. Nice breading and a good sized sandwich. I also ordered Cesar Salad which was also fresh, topped with crisp croutons and shaved cheese. Loved the shaved cheese on it. All in all, a much better experience. The dressing was very good. The sandwich and salad was $20.50, but considering the size and quality of the portions, and that inflation is very much alive and well, it was well worth it. I took half home for later.

Chicken fajita and Brooklyn ( both solid)

This self admitted tomato pie snob enjoyed all three visits here during my several days of jury duty. When I saw Gerald's glowing review I knew this would be my pick for my first lunch break. Walking in I did have deja vu, but it had been so long since I'd been I couldn't recall any details. It was a few minutes before noon and the 8 or so pies looked very fresh. But the daily specials caught my eye too, I still regret not trying that flounder sandwich, it was only offered on that first trip. I selected a slice of Brooklyn and a white offering I had to inquire the pedigree of. It was chicken fajita, and for some reason it looked and sounded appealing( I don't usually stray from more traditional toppings). It was a gamble and the Brooklyn I felt was the sure thing, and it was. A square pie but not Sicilian( they have that as well) the crust was excellent and the red sauce was a bit sweet but the dollops of pesto added some zing. The chicken was even better, despite the ample toppings of roast chicken, onions, tomatoes, peppers, cheese and light white sauce, the crust held it's point with " nary a quiver"( sorry Jerry, had to borrow that phrase:)) All the ingredients were cooked just right and played off of each other well. I was actually surprised by how much I liked it. On subsequent visits I had a pepperoni slice that was very good, better than average meat and the same slightly sweet sauce and legit crust. I also had a nicely done chicken parm hero and considered if I should bring half with me for later. Great roll and great cutlets too. Customer service in all cases was attentive too, if eating in, you place your order and pay and they bring it to your table when ready. They reheated the slices perfectly each time. Had my case lasted longer there is no doubt I'd have gone again( cheesesteak).

We built up quite an appetite walking around the Grounds for Sculpture in nearby Hamilton so we went off in search of a good pizza. Delorenzo's is closed on Monday. Yelp reviews were excellent on Covello's and I had a vague recollection of grabbing a slice here when I practiced law. The old Mercer County Courthouse is across the street. We ordered a large sausage pie and a to go order of Chicken Francais over linguine. The pizza was really big and really good. Plenty of sausage. Hot pepper flakes available in a shaker were really hot. Much appreciated. My wife really enjoyed her to go order. It wasn't linguine, though. Some sort of broad flat noodle. But a real winner of a dish regardless. Garlic bread and a small salad dressed with a balsamic vinegar came with the order. Excellent. So, if you find yourself on Broad Street in Trenton, give Covello's a try.

    Brooklyn Style Pizza

This is my favorite pizza spot. They have the best pizza in Trenton. I always order the Brooklyn Style pizza. If you wanna have a large gathering this is the best pizza. Especially for kids. This pizza is made to order. Fresh ingredients and the sauce is sweet. It's great for people who suffer from acid reflux. This the only pizza I can eat that don't make me have to sit up all night eating Tums. Please give this a try and they also make great sandwiches as well.

Very deserving. I don't even know where to begin bc they hit it out if the ball park for us. Our compliments to the chef!!! So I have to start with my Pork Chop...omg...perfect. Rocco's closed down in Newtown, PA and their pork chop was the best...this pork chop was right up there with Rocco's. The mustard sauce, unique topping, was amazing. I am thinking about it today and my mouth is watering. My husband's veal was probably the best he has ever had. The most tender veal ever with a delicious marsala sauce. Then there were the pastas and seafood...all delicious. Oh and the calamari. It was all so darn good. Kyle was our server and he added to a perfect dining experience. He answered our questions, described the choices right on, made recommendations, he was friendly, had a wanting to please attitude and my 13 yr old granddaughter was crushing on him. (Haha). Wish all of our servers were that effecient and good. Gotta love a BYOB! The restaurant is modernly decorated and very comfortable. High energy kinda place. Noise level was high but all restaurants are loud these days and it really wasn't too bad. It was our first time at this restaurant and even though it is a bit far...we can't wait to go back. It is a pleasure to support a family run business. The owner came to our table and you could see her pride and we also felt our business was appreciated. I see why every table was full on a Sunday night. I just wish this place were in our neighborhood!! Love love love it!!!

This quickly became a favorite restaurant of ours before they even brought the appetizers! First off, the atmosphere was casual and upscale at once-- we had come here spontaneously so we weren't dressed up and we didn't feel out of place, but the table settings and fun decor felt like the right level of elegance to enjoy this great meal. Our waiter was very attentive and checked in to ensure we were having a great meal, and our waters were always filled. Now, the best part: food! There were at least 25 menu options we got excited about and eventually we narrowed it down to the bacon wrapped scallops with an INCREDIBLE pesto honey mustard sauce, veal sorrento which my boyfriend really liked, and Chef Chris's Grilled Salmon which was AWESOME. The salmon is perfectly grilled with baby shrimp, crab meat, tomatoes, and basil on top. Literally INCREDIBLE. It comes in a garlic cream sauce with broccoli rabe (made RIGHT! not bitter at all!) on the side. We had so much fun dining here, and noticed a casual fare deli side to the place that we'll have to check out the next time we're back! Which is bound to be soon!

The restaurant is BYOB so we took a short walk down to Boyd's pharmacy to get some wine and beer. Bordentown parking is challenging, so be prepared to leave extra time for finding a spot. Our meal started with fresh baked sesame semolina bread that melted in your mouth. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara and my wife ordered the pasta with crab. They did have a lot of specials in addition to the menu. The atmosphere is quaint and somewhat elegant. In the nice weather you can even sit outside.

Pros: I genuinely can't think of a single favorable aspect of our dining experience…read more Cons: Everything--from the service, to the table spacing, to the food quality--was an issue. The ambiance and layout were problematic throughout the meal. The table spacing was already uncomfortably tight from the start, and toward the end of our visit, a party of 10 was seated in a way that completely blocked off the front left side of the already small dining area. This left only a narrow path on the right side for entry and exit. Given how confined the space became, it raised legitimate concerns about safety and whether the layout could pose an issue in the event of an emergency. After waiting 40 minutes for the complimentary bread, I finally had to speak up and ask for it to be brought to our table. Given that there were several open tables both inside and outside, we couldn't understand why there was such a tremendous delay with such a simple task. For an additional "starter" my dining partner ordered the Caesar salad which was completely drenched in dressing. While we were initially excited about the homemade pasta entrees, we were extremely disappointed once out they arrived. I understand that homemade pasta is typically served al dente, but neither dish was cooked properly. I had to cut my pasta with a knife because a fork simply wasn't enough, and my dining partner couldn't cut several pieces of his pasta at all--some were still noticeably crunchy. I was especially surprised, as I've dined here before and don't recall these kinds of issues--perhaps there has been a change in the kitchen. Unfortunately, we weren't able to address any of this during the meal because our waitress, Marti, never checked on us from the time she delivered our entrees (about an hour after we were seated). Not once, not even upon delivering the check did she ask us how our meals were! Before leaving, I chose to address the server, Marti, directly and share our experience. I expressed my disappointment with both the service and the food, but her response made an already bad experience significantly worse. Every comment was met with a large, clearly insincere smile and a dismissive "I'm sorry to hear that," with no effort to actually resolve anything. A good server would show genuine remorse, offer to involve a manager, or at the very least attempt to make things right--whether by addressing the issue or offering to comp part of the meal. None of that happened. There was no accountability, no urgency, and no real acknowledgment of the situation--just a phony, rehearsed response that felt completely disrespectful. To make matters worse, shortly after we left, my dining partner became ill, experiencing both diarrhea and nausea, along with severe stomach pain that has now lasted over 14 hours and is still ongoing. If I could give this experience a 0 out of 5, I would.
