A bit of a mostly disappointing update on the food here. Firstly, the chicken noodle soup here is amazing. It's more luxurious than the normal chicken noodle you'd get. It has a red broth with vegetables in it and tastes super homemade and yummy. The Italian wedding is great too. However, the meatballs here in their pasta and meatballs dish are NOT good. They are so unappetizing I cannot believe they still sell them. For a short time they were actually decent, but now they are 99.999% breadcrumbs and less than 0.01% meat. I taste zero meat and just bread crumbs. They're so perfectly shaped that when you cut it the shape stays perfectly to the point it's spongey. It's really disappointing. I used to come here 2x a week at least with my entire family to get their pasta special but can't do it anymore. Their soups are delicious and I'll still buy those, but I cannot stomach the meatballs. read more

Ordered a cheesesteak with mushrooms and hot peppers and received that but it was also riddled with onions. I like onions but they don't like me. I was so hungry I dug through the first half of the sandwich and tried removing the onions but I still couldn't remove them all. After eating the half I was not happy with having to play search in my sandwich for onions I did not want or order. When I tried telling the guy what was wrong all he barked at me was but you already ate half! As if I was asking for a refund which I was not. I've lived in Hamilton for over a decade, and never once I had noticed this establishment until I attended a catered dinner here recently. So this may be a slightly different experience than the average dinner here, I was highly impressed with the meal and service we were provided. There were about two dozen of us in the private room and were provided a small menu of entree choices along with salads and appetizers and pasta served family style. Everything on the table was fantastic and plentiful, so much so that staff was assisting each of us with to go boxes at the end of the night to make sure nothing went to waste. I'll definitely be back to try a "regular" meal here, but I've already booked a catering event here next month based on my first experience here. read more

We haven't been to Villa Maria for a few years(due to Covid times), but last night we returned with friends. The ambience is so welcoming.... A Reno they did in 2020. This gets five stars! Our meals were delicious . The Calmari Sicilian was ax excellent appetizer....a step up from the regular Calmari app. The Calmari was a bit over cooked. I thought they could have added more pasta to base of the veal entree. I had five fork fulls of linguini.... That's surely not enough! Our service was good, the staff helpful and friendly. They seemed to rush our entrees . They had to bring them back to the kitchen since we weren't done with our salads and apps. That made my veal a little tough..... but still enjoyable. I recently hosted a wedding shower with over 65 guests and was worried about the amount of food I would need. Sam assured me there would be enough! Not only was there enough, but guests were able to have seconds. Villa Maria offered reasonably priced options for my party with only one month's notice because of an unexpected change I had to make with caterers for my party. I highly recommend this restaurant and it's staff for lunch breaks, dinner or parties. They truly go above and beyond and their food is amazing! read more

The food here was amazing, they were one of the last place is open on a Sunday evening that closed at 9:30 PM. We went there to enjoy some local Italian food portions were amazing the food was very flavorful and it was more than enough to eat. I never take my food home usually clean my plate, but I have more than enough to take home for leftovers the next day. The customer service was great as well it was an overall A1 experience. This definitely gave the look of a whole in the wall Authentic Italian spot I was looking for to have some good pizza.. it was a disappointment to my whole group. We all got 3 different types of medium pizzas.. to start they lack flavor/ seasoning. The Alfredo chicken was probably the worst . It gave the saying of "taste like cardboard" some reality. The pepperoni was very tasteless and basic, the chicken parm was probably the best of all three but couldn't be fully eaten as well, just needs more care for ingredients, flavor and presentation. We had a last minute birthday celebration for our 18 year old autistic son and Villa Maria accommodated us beautifully. They seated us in the cozy dining room and had 2 servers help our party of 6. Quickly and with friendly smiles they served delicious Chicago style deep dish veggie pie, a plain pie, a salmon entree, a chicken francaise, a plaiPhilly cheesesteak with mushroom peppers and onions, and drinks. They even took pics of us with our phones, and helped us sing happy birthday while serving cake that we brought. If you want excellent food, impeccable service and a great time, come to Villa Maria for your intimate party or family celebration. Update. Repeat excellent service for his 19 th birthday with outdoor dining. Update. Stromboli is tasty but if you want more than cheese expect to pay about 3 dollars extra per ingredient. I ordered for delivery for the first time and I don't recommend that. The pizza dough was so thick in all of my three medium pizzas. The wings were dried and overcooked. This is a favorite amongst my family. My parents come pretty regularly and they are friendly with the staff and they're always so nice to my family. The food is excellent and very affordable. One half of the place is a pizzeria, and in the back is where you can go for a table service meal. Bread is always so fresh; crust is nice and crunchy and the middle is soft and fluffy. How bread ought to be. We always get the calamari which is excellent. Many amazing dishes and they always have new specials each week. I usually stick with a classic like penne vodka or chicken parm but have had things like manicotti, ravioli, lasagna, etc and you can't go wrong with any meal here. On Saturday I attended a baby shower in one of Villa Maria's recently refurbished banquet rooms. What a wonderful job they have done redecorating with a ten foot fireplace stretching across the back wall at waist height. The rigatoni with guanciale and vodka sauce was the high point of the meal for me, and I will be ordering it to take out soon. Get this, the manager/owner called after 10:30pm, not to apologize for THEIR screw up, but rather wanted to know why it wasn't paid for, and told me not to come back, my business wasn't welcomed. FOLKS, DON'T GO HERE, they don't take responsibility for their mistakes or care about the customers, this was proven.. 7 of us came in Saturday night and the back dining room was packed! My first time here and I'm always skeptical of "Italian" restaurants, you never know how good or bad it is until you get your food. So it was a good sign that it was busy! The hostess (who was extremely nice asked us if we minded sitting in the private dining room and that was just perfect seeing it was so loud in the back dining room. Tip: it's a byob, so don't forget your wine! Our waiter, a rather jolly with a fun personality was great on service. We all loved our main courses: vodka ziti, veal parm, special bronzino, and chicken parm! All excellent! My only disappointment was the clams casino, but every place makes them different. This is strictly a "Two Slices & and Soft Drink," review. I came to Villa Maria for a late lunch around 2. The front pizzeria was not busy with only a couple of tables occupied. I ordered at the counter: 1 slice Brooklyn Pie; 1 slice Regular Pizza. I asked that they be "well done," because there is little worse for lunch than warmed over pizza that is not given a chance to re-emerge from its slumber via a new scorching that remelts the cheese and brings everything back to life. The counterman agreed with me and said he would take care of getting it right. Empty promises. When I was called back to the counter to pick up my slices, they looked great. Bubbles were still forming on the surface of the mozza, and steam was rising off the tomato chunks on the Brooklyn. Yet, when I bit into the Brooklyn, it was hot, but it felt like a thick brittle crust insufficiently offset by the substance of its toppings. Wrong proportions and overworked dough leading to hard cracker crust. The Regular slice, although sitting next to its brother in the oven, was not hot enough. The Cheese was a thick layer and only the very surface had reached proper temperature. Underneath, it was still only warm. The platform was likewise not at its prime and could not hold the weight of the topside. Disappointing, especially after the special request and agreement of the pizzaman that he understood what I was looking for. I gave my credit card info over the phone but they said I wouldn't be charged until the order was picked up. The order was ready in time and was easily picked up by a friend. Also, check for the coupons on their online menu! The crowd wasn't too thrilled with the baked ziti but the tortellini alfredo was a super hit! It's really too bad Villa Maria doesn't deliver, the pizza is not half bad. Ate here for a few occasions, including a 50th Anniversary party. Cute little dinning area in the back and a pleasant waitstaff. The food from the dinner menu is, however, nothing to jump through hoops for. I personally won't come here by choice.
