I've been taking my senior cats here for years. Yes vets can get pricey as your cats get older because they need extra care. However, the reason why I highly recommend Purradise Cat Care is because the amount of care they provide you during and even after. I lost both my fur babies within a week apart. They were about 15 and 16 years old. Yoshi had kidney failure and I put him to sleep. They gave me some time with him and let me hold him while he crossed over. They also didn't expect me to pay for any bills that day, they let me come back to pay my dues. The following week, Stella ended up having a seizure and passing at home. I brought her body to get cremated. Again, they gave me a room to have some time with her and let me pay my bill at a later time. The loss of both of them broke my heart. Purradise cat care sent my flowers and were very sweet to me after losing my fur babies. I couldn't have asked for a better vet. I finally got to pick up their paw prints and ashes. I am still grieving the loss of my babies as I write this. But I am grateful to have had purradise car care as my vet throughout their lives. Highly recommend them. read more

My fur baby (a cat) wasn't feeling well and didn't seem to improve as the days passed. I was getting really concerned because she wasn't acting like her usual mischievous self. So I decided to take her in for a general health exam at Purradise Cat Care Inc., which is the ONLY feline exclusive veterinary on Hawaii. And they are AAHA accredited. So I know my fur baby is always in good hands. Let me just say that everything went 100% perfect from point of contact on the phone to the end of the vet visit. My fur baby was seen by her veterinarian, Dr. Eileen Lau, a wonderful lady with a calming demeanor about her. Dr. Lau was very thorough with her exam on my fur baby, never rushing to push in the next appointment. She takes her time explaining everything in detail and makes sure you are able to grasp every concept spoken. Dr. Lau was able to diagnose my fur baby's issue, give her treatment, and send us off back home with the knowledge and tools to provide my fur baby with the supportive care she needed. The nurse who assisted Dr. Lau was also excellent in the care he provided as well. The receptionist was even helpful in explaining the process of handling our insurance reimbursement for the visit. The waiting area, front office, and the exam room were all very well maintained and clean. And free self parking is readily available under the building structure, which is a big plus since they are located in town. Do I recommend this feline exclusive veterinary clinic? 100% YES! This is one of those rare situations where Yelp needs to have a sixth star option. That's because I've never experienced the kind of care and assistance from a vet, ever! Last year our housecat was run over in the street, the driver didn't even bother to stop:-( we rushed our cat to Purradise Cat Care, and they got us in immediately and did everything they could to try to save our beloved pet, even working to revive her when her heart stopped. But the damage was too severe. Why the six star review if they couldn't save our cat? It's because of the care that we received immediately following this traumatic incident for our family. Each of the nurses actually personally signed a sympathy card for us, with kind thoughts and words. A few days later, the vet even sent us a bouquet of flowers. Who does that? In the midst of the trauma and emotional roller coaster that this caused our family, Purradise Cat Care was the type of kind and considerate neighbor that you hope to have, and the type of vet that you desperately need in a traumatic situation. My fur babies are in the care of Dr. Belcher who, over the years took care of my other fur baby who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Dr. Belcher has been at Purradise going back to the old days when Purradise was known as The Cat Clinic by Dr. Palumbo and Sylvester. They have Everything CAT over at Purradise. During the holidays it was really hard to find someone who I trust to watch over my cat. He's a really shy cat and doesn't like to interact with new people so I was really nervous but Purradise was right down the street and I thought I'd give them a try! After calling they booked me to get his on boarding examination and a flew prevention. The onboarding was a bit pricey without pet insurance but it was good for a year! This was perfect because I actually had to leave him there during the holidays and also on a short trip to the mainland. They send daily pictures and updates, it is $35 a night but they include the food and everything! The staff is super sweet and I definitely know that they're gentle as he has opened up and felt more comfortable with them over time! I've been coming to Purradise Cat Care when it was The Cat Clinic as they were one of the listed veterinarians from the Hawaiian Humane Society (where I adopted my cat). The doctors and assistants have always been so friendly and helpful. I love that they sell specialized food for your cat's special needs, as well other supplies and toys that you may purchase to keep your feline friend happy and healthy. What I love about the veterinarians here is that they take the time to really walk you through your cat's health as they do their annual check up. For my cat, he, like me, loves food so he was getting to be a bit on the heavy side, so the doctor asked us to put him on a diet where he eats a prescribed food (yes, the food I buy for him requires a prescription so I must buy it from them) and be cautious of how much we feed him. His latest visit, my cat got a clean bill of health and a metaphorical gold star as he lost half a pound! read more

We've been Purradise Cats, formerly the Cat Clinic, clients for 13 years. They have always provided prompt professional and loving care for our two cat sisters Moka and Luna. This week I brought in Luna. Always an indifferent eater Luna she was always light at around 9 lbs. but she had lost another 1.5 lbs. We thought it was due to a new diet prescribed for her sister Moka which she refused to eat. Even cat treats she mostly ignored. After a month of trying to stimulate her appetite, Luna was prescribed an appetite stimulant. At that appoint-ment, one of the vets also felt a mass and ordered an ultrasound that we obtained the same day. The following day the lab report came and Purradise Cats called and asked me to bring Luna in after hours. Luna had a cancerous mass and surgery, radiation and chemo would be a challenge. The vet offered a 24 hour painkiller to show us that Luna was enduring chronic pain. When we realized that her extreme lethargy over the past month was actually indicative of the pain she was experiencing, we decided to have Luna put to sleep. Purradise Cats arranged for that the following noon. We brought Luna in and the staff and vets were so understanding of our extreme emotions and compassionate with Luna. We were with her until Luna quickly and painlessly died in our arms. Staff encouraged us to stay as long as needed to compose ourselves. We took Luna home for burial. Purradise Cats did not charge for last two visits and procedures. Purradise has always been kind to our two cats and compassionate with us in this stressful and emotional situation. Dr. Lau and staff are gracious, helpful and informative. My cat Luna had a 100% improvement in appetite and behavior after our first consult! The doctor took her time to assess not just the physical aspects of Luna but also quizzed me on our home life and interactions to understand "the whole cat". We just moved to Honolulu and Luna was off her food and hiding in my mom's closet. Dr. Lau recommended Feliway in that room and moving the litter box, food and water closer to her, plus a wet food (Dr. discovered an abscessed tooth) and it all worked! I can't say enough how great the doctors and staff are at Purradise! We have been taking our kitties here since we moved to Hawaii 7 years ago when the business was called The Cat Clinic. Drs. Belcher and Sylvester and Faye took good care of our senior cat, Sabastian. We have since said good-bye to Sebby, and the kindness and care that was given by this vet team at that time was incredible. Dr. Lau now runs Purradise, and the current team (Dr. Belcher is still w the practice and sees our girl for her regular check ups and Faye is still there too!) continues to provide compassionate and excellent care for their patients. There have been some fabulous updates to the practice. Thank you for taking Stache at the last minute this past weekend, and being persistent and thorough. We appreciate you and Demitri being so patient with us by walking us through our options and then explaining all the medications and how to administer them. Stache is doing so much better. We are so relieved you figured out what has been bothering her and making her feel sick. She is completely back to her sweet, old self. Purradise Cat Care, Inc. is by far the place we trust taking our cat to for regular check-ups and for boarding. We recently had to board our cat for about a month due to construction in our apartment building. They did an examination before boarding which also included a needed shot. (As our cat had not been to clinic for over a year due to COVID-19), they gave flea treatment for the duration of the stay. During boarding, staff sent us regular updates through text message with pictures and sometimes videos of our cat, Karma. We even noticed when we brought our cat home that they cleaned her ears and trimmed her claws. We were so relieved that our cat was so well taken care of. This is a long overdue review. After a considerate amount of thought, we decided not to bring our felines babies here anymore after their last stay. We've used Purradise a few times and there was always something that needed to be done or missing before boarding. The first time we boarded here, we were new pawrents to 2 cats. This was December 2019 before Covid crashed the new year. We got a tour of the facility and we were impressed by it. The boarding area was very spacious and kennels were spacious also. The temperature in there was pleasant and pheromones in the air. We toured the entire facility and met friendly staff. The new owner of Purradise just acquired it and was still in the process of moving and cleaning out things so there was some moderate clutter in the offices. We didn't mind all the mess. So we got the run down of how much boarding would be, what to bring and what time to drop off. My 2 cats see their primary Vet on schedule and are up to date with all vaccinations and monthly Revolution. I got their primary vet to email over their immunization records and whatever pertaining tests were performed to show their negative for any thing. THEN, I'm told regardless if they just saw their vet on schedule , Purradise needed to perform their own physical test. I believe it was $45 each cat? We were given an option to schedule their exam before our trip or have it done on morning of drop off. The front office staff at Purradise contacted me 2 days away from my trip and was told primary vet has not yet send medical records. So I called their primary vet and was told it was sent twice with delivery confirmation. So I call back Purradise, spoke with another person there.. he seem not to know anything and put me on hold for almost 10mins, only to tell me again to wait another 10 mins on the phone. So the earlier girl comes on the line and tells me they just got it. BS! It doesn't take 3hrs to email a document. On the first stay there we paid a good $800+ . Not bad. The 2nd stay.(about 4 months later). we were away 7 nights but our bill came out higher. I asked for them to email me the receipt. I had to call their office 3x to ask for an itemized bill. They took down my email and phone number and will call me back when it's sent. I waited almost a week for them to send it. Each time I called, they always took down my email address and said it would be sent within 10-15 mins. ..more like a week later after a few millions of calls. 3rd visit - we were out about 10 nights on this trip. We got pictures sent and they seem to be doing fine. On the day of pick up, I was shock to be slapped with a bill for $2300. I contacted purradise again and requested an itemized receipt. WHY does it take long to provide a receipt.? I was jett lagged and just wanted to go home. I told them I'd call once I get settled at home and speak with someone about my bill. That evening, I did not get a return . It took my about another week to finally speak with someone who could explain why my bill was so high. She had to put me on hold to get the cat's folders and see what the tech had needed to do during the visit. This is what I was told.. 1. One of my cats was missing a vaccine 2. One of my cats was aggressive and needed to occupy two kennels instead of just one, 3. They had to have another physical again for that stay. I was really upset by this time now. I specifically made sure all vaccination were up to date before we left and I was told YES every thjng was received and my cats are up to date. No physical was mentioned that it had to be done again before boarding. It hasn't been 6 months since the last boarding! And having my other car occupy two kennels instead of just one for being aggressive? None of my cats are aggressive. Not even to each other at home or to strangers. I know I signed papers saying that I'd like to be contacted before anything needs to be done while at boarding. Again, each time I wanted an explanation, I had the run arounds. Even when I wanted to speak to the Purradise Physician/Owner I never got a call back. At all! I paid over $2,000.00 for things I wasn't aware of. Ridiculous. No one seems to know what's going on in there. Communication is horrible. They even said they tried to contact me while I was away. That's a lie. I may have been out of the country but I was sure getting calls and texts from everyone else.. They may act nice but they got their own agenda...to lying and nickel and dime you. Take your fur babies to any other boarders than this place. There are a few other cats only boarding facility that's more reputable. read more

I visited Purradise Cat Care after I was given a "free adoption exam" coupon from PCC when I adopted a cat from Kat Charities. I was initially very excited when learning about this cat-only veterinarian on island, and I had the hope of making this our cat's regular vet. However, the entire experience has been rather deflating considering my high expectations. The list of services included with the "free adoption exam" was extensive-- full physical, fecal, nutrition and behavioral consult, individualized vacation etc. I came in for the adoption exam with a concern for ringworm as my cat had several scabs around her face and neck, and I knew ringworm was common in outdoor cats. I ended up being rushed through my vet appointment, many services that were supposed to be included in the exam were ignored. They did run a blacklight test to see if the ringworm glowed, and it didn't. I was sent home with one $30 flea pill and was told she had dermatitis. Two days later, I have ringworm. I call the vet back to let them know that clearly my cat, as aspected, has ringworm, and it has began spreading to others in my household (luckily, my dog and partner have shown no signs of it yet). PCC proceeds to tell me that I need to schedule an additional vet appointment ($), and my cat must test positive on a $150 ringworm PCR before they would prescribe any medication. I feel that I should not be having to jump through financial hoops like this to receive care, when any decent line of logic would point to the fact that my cat needs medication. 2 stars because I like the concept of an all-cat veterinarian and because people in the office were nice, but I will not visit again. Dr. Lau is such an amazing veterinarian, I live on the other side of the island but always drive into town (Honolulu) to make sure my cat gets the best care possible. Why? Because he is a rare breed, a Cornish Rex, and the specialty care and knowledge required of him can only be met by Purradise Cat Clinic with their extensive training with felines. The staff here is amazingly friendly and I consider them my extended ohana. This is the only place I have taken my cat to since I returned to Oahu five years ago and I highly recommend it to any cat owner who truly cares about their pets. They have pheromone plug in(s) in all rooms. This chill pad for cats only, has the boarding room on the top floor, separated from the examination rooms. It was mentioned that sometime in 2020 they're will be a cat cafe built on their lanai. This place is amazing. Their prices are quite comparable to other vets. Our beloved cat, Yoda, had to be put to sleep today. He was quite old for a male cat but had led a very full and happy life, growing up as a kitten alongside my children. We had taken him to Purradise Cat Care for medical help when he started to show symptoms of a disorder we couldn't identify and they were so wonderful in prescribing medications to help alleviate what looked like a natural aging process. Ultimately, he took a rapid downturn and we had to call for help. They were able to give us an appointment the following day and everyone there was so kind and caring as we said our sad farewells to our "little old man." They made an extremely difficult and painful process for us as gentle as it could possibly be and we are forever grateful for every kindness they extended to us and Yoda. When I originally called noticing my twins were not eating, I suspected something as minor as fleas. I've taken care of this before myself, but since I was working a lot, I was simply hoping to have them take care of the problem for what according to their front desk should've only cost $250 per cat ($500 total). Nope! On the day of the appointment, the front staff was extremely lazy. Wouldn't help me bring up the cats when I called to let them know I was downstairs. Only after I was done struggling with the xlarge pet carrier with the 2 of them in it, they had a smirk on their face saying "Oh, they could have helped". A few hours later I was taken aback by Dr. Lau's extremely rude and condescending phone call. Suddenly the quote of $250 per cat turns into $5000 per cat for all kinds of extensive bloodwork! I was questioning why was it so expensive. I declined to have any work done on them and went to pick them back up - I'll just take care of the flea problem myself. What made things even more annoying on top of their rude lazy receptionist and lying condescending vet doctor was my bill for having them stay there for a few hours. They actually had the nerve to accuse me of "limited funds" in the comments section of the invoice, when they are the ones that lied to me about the estimated cost for simple flea grooming. I ended up taking care of the problem myself for a fraction of the cost. read more

I wish Yelp had the to option to give half stars because I definitely think this place is 4.5 stars not 4. My kitty Kaiya, who is a really big girl (20lbs) and has an extremely difficult time keeping her long thick fur coat tidy, was getting severely matted again. It was to the point of where she wasn't allowing me to help her. So I started calling around to different groomers for help but no one wanted to deal with such a large, old, kitty, with a really bad temper for a lion cut. A friend recommended The Cat Clinic. The Cat Clinic recommended sedation to do her lion cut and they have a groomer on staff. I only deducted a half a star because this place is so expensive. They charge per 15 minutes of grooming which is $25.22/15 minute. My bill looked like this: Grooming-$50.45 Sedation-$40.18 Blood Pressure Reading-$33.00 Anal Gland Expression-$27.80 FVRCP-C rem 3 year-$37.51 Hand Scalding-$35.00 Recheck Exam-$45.00 Day Boarding-$17.33 Total bill w/ taxes -$300.72 I like it that this place specializes in kitties and that they are fantastic with them. It also looks like they take in strays as while I was waiting to pick up Kaiya a woman brought in a cat she found on the street. If you have an older kitty like mine they do "Senior Screenings", its basically extra testing to see of how your kitty is doing but it does cost $218.30. I had it run on my baby during her annual for peace of mind and she is healthy! Although Kaiya looked up at me after I brought her home with an expression that said "I cant believe you let them violate me like that and gave them $300.00 to do it!" She also speaks to you like you're 5 years old, while saying it will be thousands in costs. BTW- there was nothing wrong with my cat and it cost 1000$ The only reason I gave any stars at all was the previous doctors. I'm hoping that karma will visit her someday. Not to take away from other vet clinics (that mostly specialize in dogs) HOWEVER...do you go to Mcdonald's for a filet mignon? Or 7-11 for fresh, top grade 'ahi? Not usually... So why would you go to some random vet for your feline baby's care? Cats are unique and need a pet clinic with doctors who know and understand feline physiology, behaviors and common issues that they, specifically, face. I have NOT been one of those take-my-pet-to-the-vet on the regular type of mommy... Which makes me a bad mommy... Which was why my cat was getting sick and I had NO idea what was going on until someone pointed it out to me that he was looking skinny. Sure, I noticed his breath was foul, his coat wasn't shiny and he was picky about his food-- but he was mostly outdoors so I didn't think much of it... So, with my skinny-stinky-breath-picky-eating-fur baby, we settled for The Cat Clinic with Dr. Belcher. I'd read countless reviews that said he was one of the best feline vets around and I was thrilled to learn that he'd be taking care of my kitty. Upon arriving, we filled out paperwork and a nurse took us to a private room for our visit. The clinic is clean and, oddly enough, does not smell anything like a litter box even though they only service cats. Before the doc comes in, consider it standard practice for them to weigh your kitty, look them over, ask you some questions and take their temperature (ouch!). All the nurses and assistants I've witnessed are phenomenal with cats. I mean, my cat is very loving and affectionate but I didn't anticipate him to be as comfortable as he was with both the nurses and the doc. Dr. Belcher has such a way with cats!! He is thorough in his analysis and he diagnosed the issues that my cat was having very quickly. I felt like I'd been neglecting my cat's needs when he told me what had been going on in his mouth, throat and overall condition. He's very knowledgeable and shares that knowledge with you on how to keep your cat healthy. I know now what signs to look out for. My cat had swollen lymph nodes that made it difficult and painful for him to eat and drink and so we got him on antibiotics and steroids and he's gained weight and is doing soooooo much better! THE BUMMER... The Cat Clinic is pricey... At least for what we had to do. Between two visits and a teeth cleaning we're down almost $2k. In their defense- they did thorough, extensive tests on my kitty. After the cleaning, he has been a lot better. You get what you pay for. Dr. Belcher is the best. You won't regret it. read more

Absolutely love this vet and staff! Thank you for the excellent service and cat care. Yes, it can be expensive at times but having a healthy pet is worth it. I find both vets to be truly compassionate. I also found an amazing pet sitter from here. They sell different cat food products that can't be purchased at any pet food stores. read more
