I came into Purrfect Auto with two problems: 1) I was running late for work and 2) I had extremely high oil pressure indicated on my gauges. Seems like it's always the case that if one is going to happen, the other one happens, too. Hammer, the actual name of the service manager, took care of me immediately. He had my car on the rack and checked out within an hour. It turned out it was nothing to be concerned about, but always good to have that assurance, since I drive over a hundred miles each day, to work and back. Hammer charged me nothing for the inspection and only asked me to tell my friends. So that is what I'm doing. I'm telling my friends. But cars as we know them, always have something else up their sleeve. 2 weeks later I'm driving in...late for work again. Gotta quit stopping for those espressos on the way in. This time as I accelerated in first and second gear the shifter handle came up upward approximately 3 inches. It felt like the transmission and the engine had separate ideas, about which way to go. I brought the car into him again. Once again he had it on the rack within the hour and was able to determine that the transmission cross-member had broken and needed to be replaced. Hammer took care of me. He had his mechanic demonstrate exactly what the problem was, then Hammer put together an estimate giving me his best deal. Hammer called me approximately 4 hours later, which in car repair time is like a nanosecond.Hammer said it was all done, I could pick it up anytime and the price stayed the same as he quoted. Which is a nice change from most shops. He said if I could not pick it up before closing he would store it inside for me, which I appreciate since it is a collectors 1988 Camaro IROC Z28. I'd love to end with a funny analogy using hammer's name, but suffice to say, Hammer is just one helluva good guy, and Purrfect Automotive in Lake Forest is a great place to go when it comes to getting good automotive repair, nice treatment, and fair pricing. read more

Going to a new auto repair shop can be scary. This was our first time coming to his place. This place is GREAT! We were really in a bind when the brakes went bad in our truck. We live nearby and we got lucky finding this place online and called them up. We were not able to bring the truck in until I was off work. I was able to bring the truck in same day, in fact that it wasn't until after 4pm when I could be able to bring it in and they still helped us out! There was a few things that needed to be done with the truck and we were kind of in a bind with what we can get done that day. One of the employees there named Hammer, was very helpful explaining everything and broke it all down for us. He showed us all of the old parts and was very understanding when we had to decide what we could and couldn't get done this day. He even recommended if we were not able to get it all done, what our best best option would be to get done first, safety wise. Which is awesome! They worked with us and we were able to get it all done. We were going to just drive it home and hope it would make it until we could get more done, but we already knew it was risky. With the information he explained and also how they worked with us, we went ahead and got it all taken care of. It is nice to be able to find a good mechanic that you can rely on now a days. We got lucky with them being local as well. They are fast, reliable, friendly and good priced. I also have a newer car that I have been taking to the dealer for maintenance but after my experience here, I will be taking both vehicles here. We have some other work we want to do with the truck coming up as well and I am glad we found a place we know we can rely on to take it too. Plus the people there are very friendly and social not like other place that can be very intimidating. It is a nice change of pace. read more

I called Purrfect Auto Service because they are really close to my work & I remember seeing the signs every time I drive by. My son & I had recently gone camping and a couple days after we got back my brakes started grinding & making horrible sounds. I'm a single mom with a young boy so my main concern with my car is that it is safe. I was on a timeline that day but Hammer said he could check it out at no charge and let me know what's going on. I'm a woman and it's common knowledge that mechanics take advantage of a woman's ignorance when it comes to cars, so when Hammer explained he would show me the damaged parts that need to be replaced, I felt more comfortable. Turns out, my car needed new front brakes & discs. He also mentioned he checked over the rest of the car and found the fan belt to be in bad shape. Hammer had my car ready to go in perfect time for me to go get my son from daycare without being late. He took the time to show me the damaged parts, explaining what is normal, and what is not. I don't feel that I was overcharged a bit and am completely happy with the end result. My car had also been making a slight ringing or chiming noise sporatically over a couple months. Turns out that was the disc that was 'off' and rotating funny that had been causing this noise. Hammer didn't realize it, but he fixed that noise by replacing my discs. I left that day with a smile on my face. Yeah, it was a chunk of unexpected money spent that day that I would have rather spent on something else, but I am much happier knowing that my son & I are safe in our car. Added bonus is that it no longer makes this annoying noise that made me feel self conscious when driving my relatively new car. I had been putting off getting my power window fixed for my 2003 Ford Explorer for a month now. Yes, I drove around with a broken window, in 100-degree heat, for a month. Reason? I didn't want to deal with a car repair place. So today as I was running some errands I drove past Purrfect Auto Service in Lake Forest. Something told me to pull in to the place and simply ask how much and how long to get my window fixed. (BTW, I also needed my right-passenger window replaced--so I was really in a bad place.) I was met outside of the shop as I parked by General Manager Ehsan (the Hammer) Haider who kindly approached me and asked me how he could assist me. I told him my sad story and he took me inside and asked me to bear with him for a second. He quickly quoted me a cost for the repairs that was about what I'd expected, but reasonable. He said to me, however, that he appreciated my situation and my demeanor, and offered me a quote that was a great bargain and more than fair. He treated me with total respect and made sure that I was taken care of in terms of whether I needed a ride home or anything else I would need during the time it would take to complete the repairs. He kept me apprised of the progress via telephone calls. His staff is professional and very kind. The shop is clean and modern. The bay was filled with vehicles, so obviously Hammer has attracted business. I felt good about Hammer and his shop from the start and I trust him with my vehicle explicitly. I first came here two years ago to get my truck smogged after taking it for an oil change at Big O Tires. I was completely unimpressed with Big O, a fact that I made perfectly clear when I went into Purrfect Auto. The gentlemen at Purrfect Auto really took the time to talk to me about what they were doing with my truck and give me excellent customer service. This recent trip was no different. Remembering the customer service I received the last time I was in, I took my truck in to Purrfect Auto today (8/1) for an oil change, a tire rotation, and a smog check. They were really busy today, given that it is a Saturday, so they had my truck for a little longer than originally anticipated. When I arrived at the shop, around the estimated time my truck would be ready, I met with Hammer, the Service Manager, who apologized profusely for the fact that my truck was taking longer than they had thought. I didn't mind the wait, since I want my truck to be taken care of, but the apology was really sweet. When the majority of the work was done on my truck, Hammer took me back and showed me exactly what had been done and what would need to be done in the future. At no point did he pressure me to get work on my car that I did not anticipate having to get done. This is not true for other auto shops that I've gone to in the past. I really appreciated him showing the parts of the truck to me as he was telling me about them, because I really don't know that much about the inner workings of my truck and would have had to take his words as law. The customer service that I received from Hammer was above and beyond what I expected and I truly appreciated everything he did for me and for my truck. This was my second time dealing with Hammer at Purrfect Auto Service. The first time was several months ago when my check engine light came on. Fearing the worst, I took it over to see Hammer and it turned out it was a simple vacuum leak issue. Not knowing what the issue was, I was worried that I was going to be paying hundreds of dollars to resolve the issue but was pleasantly surprised when the bill was $65.00. This experience gave me a comfort level with the service center so when I had a serious issue last week this was the only place I considered. This time my 2003 Ford Expedition needed a full tune up which is a big time consuming job. I brought the car by the shop to see Hammer and to get an initial estimate but ended up leaving the vehicle and they even gave me a ride home. After a few hours I got a call from Hammer and he broke the bad news to me that the repair was going to be significantly more then his original estimate. He went through everything with me and after I told him my budget he was able to sharpen his pencil a bit on the numbers and I agreed to the repair. Once the repair was done, they came and picked me up from my house. As he committed, he kept all the old parts to show me the problems and he was 100% on the mark of what needed to be done. If you live in this area and you don't have a trusted auto mechanic I would tell you to go see Hammer at Purrfect Auto. Hammer does it again, I needed struts, shocks, tires, oil change, filters, brakes & rotors, motor mounts for my car. My wife needed just as much work on her vehicle as well, Hammer reviewed what the dealership report was on our vehicles, he did his own walk through and we needed less things based on other parts that were affecting the main problem. Hammer gave us a price quote on everything and we pulled the trigger. When i went to pick up our vehicles from PurfectAuto, Hammer had all of the old parts they'd taken off the vehicle on the floor so that i could inspect and ensure that the work he quoted was performed. Hammer made suggestions on what to do in the future to prevent extensive wear and tear on the vehicle. He told us to drive the cars and if there are any problems to bring it back. We had to take the both vehicles back, but I learned that when you've been driving on bad parts for a long time you get use to it. Having new parts on the vehicles seemed to make it ride differently but of course it should, new parts duh! No major problems were found, just some fine tuning and adjustments had to be performed, Hammer put me in a rental car while these things were addressed free of charge. I've recommended Purrfect Auto to several of my co workers and those who have taken their vehicles to Purrfect Auto all come back with smiles. All i can say to them is " I told ya"!!! read more

So sadly I am giving this place only a one star...I had been going to this place for years and all of a sudden I am returning months later on the same issue that was repaired twice. Got on the phone with Russell, at Purrfect auto repair, telling him my AC not working again yet had it overhauled two years in a row with Purrfect auto repair.Russell agreed when he saw record of vehicle in his computer. Russell then shares with me, " oh, that's why we fired the guy because several people have complained over the same thing coming back to repair same thing again". Wow....I think they call that fraud....right....so I reached out to my neighbors and low and behold, they all said they had same experience and will never take there car to them again. Wow....so I contacted a family friend attorney on Sunday. He believes this may be a class action lawsuit. I told him I really do not want to file a class action lawsuit but will if I am forced to do so. All I want is for them to fix my air conditioning that was fixed 8 months ago and prior to that 8 months ago with them. I did take the car this last Friday to the Chrysler dealership just out of curiosity...so I got A diagnosis...now I will take the car to Purrfect auto repair and see what they say...Let us see how This goes. Hammer is the man! I needed a reliable and trustworthy car shop near work for those times when I need something done before the weekend. I was referred to Hammer/Purrfect Auto service by two of my coworkers and am glad to be doing business with them since. I've found Purrfect Auto's work to be thorough and priced reasonably. As Purrfect Auto's front man, Hammer is tip top. He is definitely about taking care of his customers' vehicles and he's demonstrated that to me by how he has handled my requested work; explaining what was done along with how and why it was done, showing me the parts that needed to be replaced and the quality of parts used to replace them, advising me of anything that they noticed might also need to be done without pressuring me to get it done now if its not necessary for safety, and going above and beyond by doing things like courtesy checking/topping-off fluids and offering shuttle since work is close to the shop. Furthermore, shop is clean and you get a sense that the shop crew is all about taking care of the customer as well. I've been taking my car to the dealership ever since I bought it in 2010, it was finally time for a major tuneup with a change of breaks, ac filter, axels, among other things. The dealership gave me a ridiculous estimate so I decided to go through a mechanic shop even though I was hesitant at first due to trust issues I have with mechanics, given the past experiences I had with them. I was referred to this place so I decided to give them a try and I am very glad I made that decision. Hammer gave me an honest and reasonable estimate and got the job done within the timeline he gave me. After everything was done, my car was healthy again and I felt the difference after I drove it. The prices were very reasonable and clear. The general manager Ehsan was more than friendly and made me feel comfortable just from the way he treats his workers like family. Few days after I got my car back I got a call from both hammer and Ehsan to check if everything was smooth with the car, i have never had a mechanic or the manager give me a followup call before. I have been there twice now and both times was very well taken care of and so was my car. The guys at the front desk were very friendly and helpful making me feel like this was my new home mechanic. I figured the first time that I would be back even though it was far from my house and the next time I had even more certainty that I would not only be coming here myself but also be bringing my boyfriend's cars in here as well too. I have a 2006 VW Beetle and it being a new vehicle for me I care very much that I can take it somewhere that is reliable and the people who work there care about me as a person. I definitely felt that way. They were able to answer every question that I had and even invited me back telling me about all the deals they have. They didn't try to upsell me on getting additional work done that was unnecessary and as a young woman I run into this a lot. The fact that they open at 7 a.m. is huge for both me and my boyfriend who were quite a bit and need the in-and-out of an early morning service. 30 times the work was done quickly and my car was left clean inside and out which I also appreciate. read more

About a year ago in Oct 2015, I was in need of new tires and brakes for my 2004 Ford Explorer. I took it to a family friend who did his repairs in the backyard. Unfortunately my car ended up being worse when the entire caliper came off when I drove home. I had the car towed to Purrfect Auto because they were by my old job. Am I glad I came to them. Hammer helped me out today with my 2004 Hyundai Elantra. I needed an oil change and a check-up - my car has been making a terrible rumbling noise for some time. He and his staff quickly checked my car and found the source of the rumbling within 30 minutes. My car has other wear and tear from being curb parked for many years, as well as driving cross country - he offered me a very well priced package which I was sad to have to refuse, but he didn't push me on the sale. Instead he wrote out the troubled areas and numbered them from the most urgent to least urgent, and said he would be happy to offer me 10% off the next time I came in. He showed me each part he fixed this time, as well as told me exactly why each other part would need to be fixed in the future. Love this place! Easy to stop in and get a smog check. They are fast and the waiting room is clean and comfortable. The manager, Hammer was kind enough to let me know that I was needing maintenance in the near future, and when I told him my son is selling the car, he offered to top off all the fluids and chech the tire pressure! I'm sure the new owner will be grateful, and so am I. Car errands are my least favorite to do, but this shop always makes it easy and I'm always happy with the work and the price I can't say enough good things about these guys! We brought out truck in for smog check, Hammer let me know before he ran the check that I wouldn't pass because a check engine light was on. I appreciate that he didn't waste my time & money running the test. He diagnosed the issue, fixed it & it passed the smog test! I always feel like they are looking out for me & not taking advantage. Let me start by stating the obvious; no one wants to spend $3,100 on a transmission, engine mounts, plugs, points and a timing belt for a '03 Dodge Neon SXT, especially one with only 103,000 miles on it. But, if you DO have to drop three large, I cannot recommend Hammer and the team at Purrfect Auto Service highly enough. They kept me informed of their diagnostic findings, and made me aware of all my options and potential charges for repairs. They didn't lift a wrench until I gave the "OK", and there were no surprises of any kind. Hammer even insisted that I examine the cracked remnants of my transmission and mounts. I'm not a car person, but even I know broken and sheared when I see it. The car was ready when they said it would be, and the price quoted me was the price I paid. Best of all, my car rides like new!
