Very disappointed in the service received on Christmas Day! We ordered prime rib which was fatty and also the ham, they served the ham with turkey gravy which I never heard of and did not even mention whether or not we would like the gray. Also the waiter brought over the check without even offering dessert or coffee. Also I heard one of the workers talking to possible a new employee and what he said to him was very degrading and rude!! My friend, aunt and I were regular customers and will not be going back to the restaurant. One of the main reasons why we kept going back was the food and the service. Had a very nice dinner here on a Saturday night. I had the NY Strip Steak and my friend had the Veal Parmigiana. Both were well prepared and large portions. Service was fine. With the Covid changes on Greenwich Avenue, they have a nice outdoor seating area with about 8 tables and heaters. I'd give the Putnam 6 starts if I could! Top notch service and food! I stopped on my drive from NYC to MA and was so happy to find this gem! My friend and I ordered the turkey dinner & chicken parm and both were excellent. There was so much food on our plates that dessert seemed impossible, but we made room and were not disappointed! The coconut cake and hot apple pie were to die for! I wish the Putnam Restaurant was closer to where I live because I would become a regular customer. Picked this place as a last minute stop before my weekend anniversary came to an end. Off the rip, terrible manners/customer service. Walked in (masks on) looking to be seated. A male waiter shooed us out of the way. "Come on guys out of the way". Now I understand a busy stressful workday especially in food service. I worked it for 4 years. But this is was blatantly rude. Our actual waiter was great until we tried to ask him for something and he gave us the 'one second shush' finger. I'm not a child. Don't ever do that to another grown adult. Food was also bland and didn't come the way I fully ordered it. And my boyfriend and I couldn't help but to notice the difference in service for other patrons. Absolute coddling. Far more attentive to them. And far more polite. I wanted to keep giving them a chance, because I've worked food service and understand a stressful environment. I went here for brunch one day and was highly disappointed. I ordered a spinach and feta omelet (one of my favs) and it was terrible. The spinach was the frozen kind from the box, and it was still cold inside the omelet. They just sprinkled the feta on top of the omelet, not even putting it inside! My grandma comes here so often she could just bring a pillow and stretch out at nighttime in the back. They probably wouldn't mind either. This diner gets busy on Sundays when the churchgoing folk get out of mass and are hungry from their morning of wine and host. Okay, so it's not the best quality food (it's diner food people!) but they'll fix you anything you'd like. Mix up the menu a bit- don't want eggs? get egg whites. or egg beaters (fake eggs). My go-to meal at Putnam is a spinach and cheddar omelet. Bagel on the side. The cheddar cheese is literally overflowing out of this monstrosity and i have to pick a majority of it out. But, it's still yummy. I actually LIKE that they use the frozen chopped spinach- it's not what I would use at my house so it's changing things up a little for me. There's no soy milk and you're not going to get an amazing latte. But, if you want greasy breakfast food, this place is A-OK. read more

Visited this place several times over the year. Cheese quesadillas are superb and chocolate milk actually has chocolate in it. Fair priced and cozy, it's always a convenient place to catch a bite. Would give 4.5 stars if I could, with the negative .5 coming from inconsistency. Sometimes they give me certain condiments, sometimes they do not for the same dish. After years of accepting getting our food frequently not as ordered, and never sending it back, today the owner made our breakfast, mine was French toast. It was dry, some of it was plain white bread with no egg on it, on a scale of 1 to 10, it was less than a 1, like eating dry paper towel. So, this time, I thought, enough is enough. I spend thousands of dollars here yearly. Instead of remaking the $7 French toast which would have cost him a few slices of bread and a few eggs, I was told "he will not remake it". So.... despite every one of the servers being wonderful, sweet, smiling, kind people, and the owner's son and wife also, I informed them I will never eat there again. I would recommend if you want your food prepared properly, and to eat somewhere that the owner does not treat his customers and staff like S--T, that you never eat at Putnam, ever. Glory Days is a much better choice, or Meli Melo, or Bistro V. We will be giving them all of our business after today, good reliable food, respectful of their staff and their customers. read more

It's a small and cute restaurant owned by a Costa Rican and Greek couple which shows in certain items on their menu. The food is good and well portioned as you won't walk out of there eating a whole meal and hating yourself because you are so over stuffed as in most resultant/dinners. Best reasonably priced eatery on the Avenue. They server breakfast all day, which is usually what I get when I go. They have great french toast - simple, thin, moist. Be sure to ask for real maple syrup - it's a little extra but completely makes the meal. They're very good about substituting items. I've had dinner a few times and it was good as well. I like their cajun chicken sandwich. If the booths and the counter look full, walk to the back where there is plenty of seating. If the front is empty, best to sit up there as you may be forgotten in the back. $15 minimum to use a credit-card. read more

Also, we saw the server take mushrooms with his bare hand, place it on a plate, and serve it to a different table.
