Average Breakfast Platter with a side of sausage (I forgot to take a picture first before putting on ketchup).
    Angela L.

The outside is a cute little store. Inside was smaller than I thought. The lady said we could sit wherever we wanted so we chose a table by the window. There is an extensive breakfast menu with pancakes, waffles, omelettes, breakfast sandwiches and platters. To share we got the Average Breakfast Platter which is two eggs, home fries, toast, and choice of meat. We also got an extra side of sausage. It was a solid breakfast. The toast was crunchy but I wished they didn't pre-buttered it. The bacon was crispy. The eggs over easily were perfectly cooked. The sausage were the typical breakfast sausage links. The home fries were a surprise. They were soft but not mushy, parts were nicely charred, and it was well seasoned.

The complete breakfast. Eggs, turkey bacon, pancakes

My first time didn't know what to expect. Staff were friendly. I ended up getting the complete breakfast (eggs, turkey bacon, and pancakes) definitely worth it. You won't break the bank going here at all. Good vibes all around. Definitely will be coming back!!

The master himself. He needs a much bigger grill.

If you look on Google you'll find that this place is now called Breakfast House. And the pictures you'll see seem to be posted by patrons but seem also to have the quality of high resolution professional photos. The food looks too perfect. There's no way these are patrons' photos. So you think to yourself this must be an amazing breakfast place. Then you get there and you realize it is just a tiny, dinky diner. Nothing special. Nothing pretty. But for some reason it's full of people. That's a good sign. The second good sign is that if you go on a Sunday, which I don't totally recommend, you will wait no less than 20 minutes just to have your food brought to your table. The reason why is from what I can tell they only have one cook and he has a small space to do his masterful work in, and Sundays are swamped. The staff, who may be relatives I think, are so sweet and so considerate that those 20 minutes go by quite quickly. I think the real reason I'll come back is just to watch this man cook. The menu is quite broad for a breakfast place and exceedingly affordable. But what's really amazing is how much effort he puts into everything being so perfect, so presentable, so flawless. I watched intently as a Belgian waffle left his hand to the waitress while he quickly added a bit more whip cream on top, then watched him shift his body to flip and toast a breakfast burrito, then stepping back to pull out the broiler tray below his grill to check on the toasted bagel with cheese, closing it as he leaned forward and poured out a thin layer of eggs for a perfect omelette. All that and you would think that he had multiple arms with the speed at which he works. He is an artist. Yes this is a simple diner, no they won't win a Michelin award, but he is a master of his trade. I will return just watch him cook. And those photos really are from patrons. Here are mine.

One egg bec for $5. I'll pass.

This place is pretty wack to be honest. All my coworkers swear by it, but I don't really get the appeal. $5 for a bacon egg and cheese that comes with one egg? That's sad.

We love this place. Fast, delicious...affordable. This is a short order kinda jon if you're looking for a big menu look elsewhere but if down-home, griddle born breakfast is what you're after; this is your place.

They have free parking in two lots, one adjacent to the restaurant and one across the street. The spots are narrow so they may be a bit tight for super large cars. The restaurant does not allow strollers. They have a prominent sign on the front of the door, which I appreciated, but it did make it harder to manage with a little one. We made a reservation. I arrived late, but they sat my friend right away while she waited and provided us with sturdy wooden high chairs. To drink, I ordered a lemonade. It turned out to be pink lemonade, which I hadn't had in a while. It was tasty, especially with a requested fresh lemon for a little extra tartness. To eat, I had the tree hugger benedict. The eggs were well prepared and the English muffin was nice and buttery. Our waitress and other patrons were friendly.

The waiter said it was the pesto mayo, which according to AI CAN migrate from sweet tasting to licorice flavored (ugh!) based on the basil being exposed to extreme heat causing it to flower. Swing and a miss. We switched it out for an eggs Benedict which wasn't much better. Strike two. The chicken and waffles came with a horrible BBQ flavored syrup and the chicken pieces tossed in top of the waffle felt (and tasted) like an afterthought. Another huge miss. Strike three. We are officially OUT.

They have a program to text when your table was ready, so we went for a walk in the neighborhood while we waited. A surprisingly short time later, we received the text that our table was ready! The menu(s) had a wonderful selection of food and drinks, along with some specials. They do use a QR code for their menus, but noticed they also had paper menus upon request. Our server was friendly and attentive. The other members of staff would also check in as they passed by. My boyfriend enjoyed the PB & J Latte along with the creole shrimp Benedict. He said it was seasoned well, right level of spice, stated the eggs were poached perfectly, and really enjoyed how moist the cornbread was. I indulged with the "Tipsy Palmer" which is an Arnold Palmer with Bourbon in it. To be honest, there wasn't much of a bourbon taste to it, if any at all, but for a summer brunch drink, it was refreshing. For my entree, I chose the chicken Caesar sliders. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed as the brioche buns seemed a little on the stale/stiff side. The homemade caesar dressing was delicious, but they only coated the lettuce in it which resulted in a bit of a dry slider. I believe the sliders would benefit from a bit of the dressing at least on the bottom of the bun. I asked for (and received) a side of the dressing to bring home to dress up my remaining sliders. Lastly, and I know this is extremely minor, but the silverware was placed incorrectly (knife and fork reversed with the knife edge in the wrong direction). Again, I am WELL AWARE this is minor, but for me, sometimes the minor details are the things that stand out. Overall, a wonderful experience and will try them again at a later date.

We do notice two empty tables outside but understood that maybe they don't want to seat people and overwhelm the kitchen. After about 10 mins of waiting we're offered one of the tables that had been empty. (Which were outside). No menus given but we noticed the QR codes. Guy comes by and drops off cups w ice and a carat of water. Waiting... waiting.... Finally another server comes and asks if we'd like to order drinks. Yes, and our meals bc we've been sitting here for quite some time. We get our coffees and there's a lot of grinds at the bottom of the cups, server switches it out. We finally get our food and two of the three meals were not hot, not even warm. But we're hungry and eat but when the server checks in my sister says "honestly for as long as we waited we would've expected hotter food, these two (egg dishes) are cold." He apologizes and says he'll let the manager know. The manager, who I can only assume is Lisa (based on the responses I'm seeing here on Yelp) came out and said I hear the food is cold? And was very aggressive right off the bat. Saying everything comes right out of the kitchen and to the table, we don't have heat lamps. Offers to "reheat" the food (but how, the microwave?) we're already half way thru the dishes as we had waited a long time. My sister tried to express that after waiting for a table, service and grounds in the coffee that this was disappointing - the manager interjects w "well did you tell him did he give you a new one" She does NOT take criticism very well, she's abrasive and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. She then came out (after I assume finding out the whole story and how long we had been there) she said she would take the two items off the bill, which we weren't gunning for. As we just gave honest feedback when asked how everything was. We then noticed her come and check in on the other tables outside bc people who got there well after us also got their food at the same time... As much as I'd want to come back and try it again bc the promise is there. The manager was such a turn off, that I would be spending my money there, again.

Once you sit down you scan a QR Code to order your food and drinks. I was pretty hungry that day so we ended up ordering a ton of food. The drinks were pretty good and they were served in Le Creuset mugs. Not the biggest deal, but I can appreciate some nice drinkware. The bowl of Kimchi Fried rice came out first. It was a generous portion and the rice was cooked well, but I feel like it could've used some more kimchi. The eggs on top were cooked perfectly and added good texture to the dish. The next dish to come out was the HK French toast. The bread was nice and fluffy which paired well with a nice generous drizzle of condensed milk. I enjoyed this a lot. We also ordered scallion pancake, pork barbecue, and bossam baos. These were ok, I would probably pass on a return visit. I felt like the meat in the baos was a little tough though they did have decent flavor. The last entree was the smoked salmon and avocado croissant; I really enjoyed this. It had a generous helping of smoked salmon and avocado as well. The saltiness of the salmon paired well with the creamy and fatty avocado. The croissant was also nice and flaky. It was also served with a house salad which had a nice drizzle of dressing on it too. For dessert we ordered a Black Sesame Souffle Pancake. This was SO good. A few months ago I visited a place in Princeton that specialized in these Japanese-style pancakes and Tasty Junction's version was so much more enjoyable. I loved that it was served with a healthy scoop of ice cream. The pancake was airy and had a bounce to it. Each bite was so good and made even better with the ice cream. I'd definitely come back just for the pancakes. All in all Tasty Junction is a great spot tucked away in Glen Rock
