This is the third escape room I've done with family and friends and was definitely at the top of the list. The game master was phenomenal and tailored our experience to our preferences in regards to getting clues. We did Grim Stacks and it was a great mix of puzzles, locks and tech reveals. Had a great time! We did the Pirate themed room. There were 4 of us and it was just right. Great props, brain teasing challenges, and nice staff. We solved the room with a few minutes to spare. They were good at giving hints when they could tell we stalled for a while. But it didn't feel over done or like it gave anything away. The service here was amazing ! I did my research before hand on all of the different escape rooms in Phoenix and this one had quite a few bad reviews on the service. I'm not sure why, considering the employees were very helpful. My family brought my younger brother here, as well, and he enjoyed the game. We did the Grim Stacks escape room and it was quite a challenge for our family of five. I've done four escape rooms in the past and this was probably one of my favorites. 10/10 recommend ! read more

We have done several rooms around Phoenix and Puzzle Effect was the worst experience we've ever had. We asked to get clues only when we request them, because we like to challenge ourselves. The game master that did our intro agreed and said that they wouldn't give them if we were close to figuring out a puzzle. When they shut the doors we all stood there and waited for our time to begin. After a few minutes of the clock not moving we gave up and just started. We spent somewhere around 15 minutes (not sure exactly how long since the clock wasn't working) asking for clues and telling them that the clock wasn't working. Finally at 46 minutes the clock kicked on. We spent another 15 minutes asking for clues and going down the wrong path because we were told that we wouldn't get clues if we were close. Around the 30 minute mark a message popped up asking if we wanted a clue. After that we finally received a little bit of help. When our time was up (and we obviously didn't Escape) a new game master came in and told us that we were about 7 minutes from escaping. We told her our frustration with the clues and she told us that she was told that we didn't want clues at all, but that she had only started watching us at the 30 minute mark. I don't know if we were being ignored up to that point or if no one was watching us at all, but this was super frustrating. After that we headed out extremely upset at the experience. Since we had paid so much money we talked to the girl who said she was the manager and asked if we could get our money back or something. She was not apologetic at all and kept trying to blame us for requesting clues instead of being guided. She said that since we completed the room, the best that she could do was a refund on a gift card for four people (we paid full price for six). Her bad attitude and unprofessionalism pushed us over the edge and we refused since we WILL NOT be returning. We have no problem admitting when we don't get out on our own merits, but this one was definitely not on us. read more

I took a group of 5 cute 12-13 girls there for my daughters birthday. They have the cutest library themed (Grimm stacks) room that was this group of bibliophiles dream situation. The website was easy to navigate and times were readily available just a couple days beforehand. The employees to check us in and give us hints were great. Escape rooms aren't totally easy (and they shouldn't be) so the girls took a looooong time on the first clue which hurt them in the long run. But the twists and turns were great. Props were cool and everything was fun. It was just all around really enjoyable read more

Enjoyed this experience for Father's day. We had a great time. Only complaint was that we only did one room. We're hooked. Can't wait to try all of them! Such a fun concept! I give this a 2 just for the customer service. Other than that, I feel like the room was too small, they didn't have many props. I didn't feel like I was in an escape game. The clues didn't give much for us to go off of. We tried the "Rescue" room. This was just looking for codes to unlock padlocks. If you're looking for a place that makes you feel like you're in a game or you want cool little things to unlock when you press a button or secret passage ways to open up, this is not it. I've tried many escape rooms and this is by far the worst, in my opinion. But again, they do have good customer service. read more

Having never been to this type of place before I had no idea what to expect other than having heard it would be fun. The escape room experience was something quite different and really fun. Our room had both young and old ranging in ages from 73 to 12 and everyone worked well together, finding the clues and solving the puzzle(s). I would highly recommend this to groups of any ages. read more

My fiancé and I are kinda escape room junkies, so naturally had to do two in the same day. We did the crimson room and the farewell room and enjoyed them both (probably crimson a little more). We have done almost 40 rooms in the valley and this place ranks near the top, very clever puzzles and very friendly, attentive staff. We will definitely be back to do rescue sometime soon!! read more

We came with a group of 15 and took up two rooms for my husband's birthday. One room finished with 8 min to spare and the other needed about 30 sec more. But the experience was awesome. The outfit is well run and they help keep you moving if you get too far behind. We will be back and look forward to new rooms in rotation. read more

I've been to other escape rooms and had so much fun even paying for multiple escapes. This one was completely awful. First off it's totally random there is no clue trail or storyline or fun. It's basically trying random numbers until they work. And we were paired up with another group of people who were totally annoying to play with which made it even worse. I would NEVER Recommend this place to any groups who actually want to have a good time. Skip this place, save your money and use it to have fun at another escape room place. read more

What a great escape room place! My two buddies and I did the Grim Stacks and the Crimson Storm and loved them both. The Grim Stacks in particular was really fun, but both were challenging but rewarding. We were able to escape both--did Grim Stacks first and then had definitely improved by Crimson Storm. The staff member who helped us was Heather, and she was great. I've done one escape room before, in Los Angeles, and this was far superior. Can't recommend more highly! read more

This was my third time doing an escape room and first time at Phoenix Escape Room, and we had a great time! We did The Crimson Storm and got out with 9:41 to spare! They were very flexible when we arrived late and allowed us to start when everyone arrived, which was greatly appreciated (the location is a little tricky to find). I would only suggest a little sign at the entrance to the business park to let people know they are going in the right direction. Otherwise, a great time! read more

We had a great experience at Phoenix Escape Room! Our family visited during Christmas break and tried the Rescue room. The location was easy to find and nice and clean. The staff was excellent and welcoming. The puzzles were challenging and fun for the adults, but the kids in our group had a hard time with the puzzles. read more

Fun! I wasn't sure what to expect it it was a fun challenge and I can't wait to try other challenges!

TL: DR: Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining. My group and I picked the RESCUE scenario as we've done escape the room activities beforehand and wanted a greater challenge. My complaints are two fold, firstly and less importantly was the nature of the second part of the challenge. Our group was extremely frustrated when all was said and done and not because we failed to complete it, but a few details about that challenge and mainly the staff. Firstly, the final part of the challenge. We did not complete it and when the staff member showed us what we had missed and how we were supposed to have completed it the solution seemed overly convoluted and not intuitive at all. Either it was very poorly explained to us (the staff member did have an air of wanting to just get us out of there quickly) or it was poorly designed. Secondly, and most importantly, our issue was with how the staff handled things. In the intro presentation we were given we were told that we might be given clues if we appear to be stuck and we could ask for them if needed and we were shameless in admitted we would likely be asking for clues...the clues were a joke...first off they never gave us one upon request as we had been led to expect and when they did pop up a random clue it was always to the part we had just figured out. This made the interaction with them more than useless as it either was no help or at times led us to second guess what we were working on costing us valuable time. The ultimate kicker was the excuses. As I said we were not happy and called out the staff member when we finished and all we got was a lame apology and excuses about blind spots, they couldn't see us or hear us at all and other such i eventually tuned out. I know they could have seen us because at two points they immediately put on the TV to stop moving items around (one of our team had not noticed a black sticker on a black cabinet in a room with no current illumination but the clock on the TV) and when a member of the team looked behind the TV, again a notice that there was nothing behind the TV appeared so I very much got the impression that what we were given were excuses. Afterwards we discussed it as a team and we all felt like they made it artificially hard and I for one felt like the main issue was the staff. We failed, we get it. We've succeeded in the past elsewhere and we've failed elsewhere but never before have we felt that the process was manipulative or that we got ripped off...until now. We love these activities and have done plenty in the past but as we continue to do more in the future we will not be returning to this company as their staff appeared to either be manipulating the situation or just didn't care to do their jobs well. read more
