This place is great. The service is A++. I come here with my kiddos and they always speak to my kids in such a nice way. I'll sometimes order food for my 10 month old with lots of modifications and they never bat an eye. It's a big deal to have a restaurant fully accommodate your requests. Now for the food...my personal favorite is the avgolemono soup. It's so good. My 4yo loves it too. Their sampler platter of different dips is awesome. The salmon is good and so is the chicken dish. So is their salad. But the soup . I haven't gotten anything I haven't liked yet. Highly recommend. read more

We all have very busy schedules these days and to go have a good meal end of a busy day - you want this! On one side the walls have some type of modern geometric color canvases in muted colors, and at the other end are paintings of traditional Greek interiors and buildings.Greek music plays in the background. It really does set the mood, and the seating is comfortable.For starters there is fresh pita with a red brushcetta spread. Not too spicy but good.. I decided to try the beef and lamb wrap with the avogolemono soup. The avgolemono soup was tangy with the added lemon, and had nice chunks of shredded white meat chicken. I've been here a couple of times, both were for lunch. Once I ordered the lamb souvlaki and once the falafel on the phylos salad. Both servings were plenty big. You can definitely get away with splitting your meal or taking some of it home. I also tried the chicken souvlaki plate. My daughter loved this dish. We had a great experience here, delicious food, good service & nice staff. - The complimentary pita & tomato/olive spread - it was delicious. The bread was freshly baked, fluffy & tasty. The spread was tomato base with olives & other goodies. - Roka tis giagias salad - refreshing & yum. The slip it in 2 for us before even us asking and it's still was a great portion per person. The dressing was light and tasty. - scallops - the scallops were cooked perfectly and had good light seasoning. The orzo on the side had great flavors. It was well cooked, soft and mixed with veggies that added more flavor & freshness to it. It also came with veggies, again loved the freshness and it had good pepper kick to it but not too spicy. - Whole Lavraki - Beautiful sea bass, it was absolutely delicious. It was cooked perfectly, they deboned it, taking the spine out. The inside was soft with great flavor. The skin was also super tasty. Same orzo side, just delicious. - Service was great. Came here with my partner on one of the days with a heat wave going on. We were the only two customers inside and were warmly welcomed by the staff. We ordered the daily special shrimp salad and grilled octopus. The octopus was a bit overcooked and hard to chew, but after the chef (?) talked to us and we communicated this issue with him, he nicely offered to recook the dish. What an amazing experience! My colleague and myself decided to have Greek cuisine tonight as we both enjoy the cuisine. Make no mistake, Plyos is AMAZING in all categories! From the staff (and owner) through the Tawny Port for dessert, this was a 5-Star dinner! Starting with the Ouzo...a grand presentation. The, of course, the Saginaki...opa!!! A very tasty salad, then the just amazing Lamb Shank. As I travel coast-to-coast often, thus was one of the best Greek cuisine experiences I have had in years. I usually opt for the Greek soup, which I highly recommend if you like lemon as it is packed with lemon flavor. I forgot to take a photo to post, but the Mediterranean Gnocchi is absolutely delicious. Very generous portion, with a lot of artichokes, and amazing white wine sauce. I love the addition of fresh spinach. Overall it is a relatively light dish, which I will order again. Spanikopita and zucchini cakes were also divine, and we were pleased with the gyro wrap as well. I can't attest to the ambiance or service at the actual restaurant, this was a delivery order, but the man I spoke to on the phone to ask for a small side of tahini sauce (after already ordering on-line) was very accommodating. read more

Gross. The Scallops weren't cleaned so they were salt slippers. The zucchini cakes were barely cooked and tasted like salt pucks. Truly amazing quality food. All we ordered was an A+. We tried the dried tomato dip with warm pita, it was crazy good. The chicken lemony soup was fantastic and tasted homely and nutritious. We had diner there last night. I was so looking forward to the Avgalemono Soup, the traditional Greek egg lemon chicken and rice soup. It is a taste of heaven. Sick or well, this is a culinary mood changer. I could live on this. I followed that up with the Chicken Souvlaki, absolutely delicious and the generous portions made for a second meal the next day. We sat outside for lunch on a Friday - good service 4/5 - beyti was good and plentiful 3/5 - moussakka ( vegetarian). The eggplant wasn't as tender as expected. The tomato sauce was added on plate instead of incorporated into the moussaka like the traditional recipe. Very excited for the awesome Greek food addition to San Carlos! We picked up takeout for lunch here. My husband got the Beyti and I got the octopus and we shared the dips (as did my toddler daughter!). Everything was really good. The Beyti had lots of excellent spices with a smoky flavor. The octopus was also well flavored with a good texture. The dips were delicious - they included the red dip it sounds like you get when you eat there- my husband's favorite was the tzatziki, my daughter loved the kalamata olive dip, and I thought they were just all great! The pita was also pretty good - the right amount soft and fluffy. The prices are on the higher side, but it does feel like a nice restaurant - from the quick glimpse inside and the quality of the food. The service was also great - we had an issue where they didn't receive our online order ticket, but made the food ASAP and included a dessert as apology. I had a craving for Mediterranean...specifically chicken skewers w/veggies and rice. My husband and I went to Pylos and they delivered. We started off with the Spanakopita which was HEAVEN: the fluffiest and flaky phyllo with a generous filling of feta and spinach. My chicken souvlaki was PERFECT: the chicken had great flavor and was unbelievably juicy and tender; rice was fluffy and the veggies not overcooked; my husband ordered the Falafel Plate: falafels were crispy on the outside and light/airy on the inside...not greasy at all. Then the Baklava for dessert...Baklava is one of my favorites and it was decadent: flaky, sweet, perfect chewiness between the phyllo, honey and pistachios. All in all...Pylos provides a wonderful dining experience with traditional Greek flare. We will definitely be back and tell others about it, as well. read more

We were on our way to walk down Laurel to find a place for lunch! We noticed that Pylos had tables outside and was open!! We saw them building it out and noticed there weren't many reviews. The menu, which was one sided and so easy to digest, all looked delicious. The owners and staff greeted us with smiles and were so friendly!! The tables are shaded outside with umbrellas too! Hassan was so nice and he came by to check on us so frequently. I love when the owner is involved and at the tables. Cansel was our waitress and was so lovely and offered so many yummy options. Pylos was fortunately available last minute on Mother's Day. It was our first time there and we were not impressed. The Moussaka was plain without a hint of cinnamon, the vegetables were plain, the salmon was fishy. Even the kids pizza wasn't very appetizing to the kids. I wish more people would come here! I don't write many reviews. I only do so for the extremes. Pylos is definitely on the positive side of the spectrum. We've come here a few times and it's always been great today we had the chicken souvlaki. All of the ingredients were of great quality. The chicken was amazingly tender and seasoned well.
