My husband and I decided to try Stamp Bar & Grill for dinner and were really impressed. The service was great from start to finish. The host was friendly when we arrived, and our waiter was excellent. He was personable, knowledgeable, and gave some really solid recommendations. He suggested the Belle Glos Pinot Noir and the seafood stew, and both ended up being fantastic choices. The seafood stew was hands down my favorite part of the meal. It was loaded with shrimp, clams, mussels, calamari, salmon, and a half lobster tail. The seafood was fresh, the portion was generous, and the broth was absolutely incredible. I found myself wanting to soak up every last drop. My husband ordered the ribeye, and after stealing a few bites, I can see why he loved it. It was cooked perfectly and topped with a compound butter that added so much flavor. Between the steak, baked potato, and asparagus, it was a really well executed dish. The food, service, and atmosphere all came together for a great dining experience. It's not often that both of us leave a restaurant talking about how much we enjoyed our meals, but that was definitely the case here. We'll absolutely be back. read more

I had been told by 2 people to try this place. Boy am I glad I did. First, the service was outstanding. Our server listened to us with minor changes we made and was very attentive. We sat outside on their beautiful patio. Here what we ordered: Calamari - delicious. Just the right amount of batter and I loved that it had zucchini, jalapeños and asparagus. A + French dip - very very good and what I was told to go for. The au jus was to die for. Bread was perfect for the amount of beef and cheese. A+ Garlic cheese bread - OMG!!! The ambience here is beautiful and everything is sleek and beautiful. However the staff seem very uncomfortable and skiddish and our waiters kept changing. It was quite strange. The new york strip was amazing however the ribeye is a bit stringy and came out overdone. Also the addition for prawns was 14 dollars but the prawns were more akin to 4 small shrimps rather than prawns. Overall, it's not a bad place just items are kind of hit or miss. I've walked by so many times and wondered about this place since it has pretty good reviews (4.4 stars, 489 reviews), but part of me was skeptical. Maybe it was the name, maybe it was the vibe. I feel like this is maybe more like 3.8? Me giving them 4 stars probably doesn't help, but the stars aren't a science and reviews are all subjective anyway. My personal take is 4 stars for service and 3.5 stars for food at the price - service was fast, friendly and attentive, but you're not getting bang for your buck. I really appreciated them fixing the overcooked steak for someone at our table, and they let us keep the overcooked steak. The person who ordered it preferred the medium rare as they ordered it, and didn't eat the overcooked one, but I tried both and I can see why they cooked it medium - the cut doesn't lend itself to a medium rare prep, too chewy at that level. A few of us tried and preferred the medium. That said, I suppose beware it may not be cooked to order and also maybe you don't want it cooked to medium rare necessarily. It's not a steakhouse. Their $20 prix fixe lunch menu is a nice light option (light in serving size and also on the wallet). Got two ribs for the ribs dish. Bolognese was a bit watery. There was a good chance the folks at our table that ordered prix fixe would've gone hungry without the extra steak at our table. The filet mignon stroganoff was not bad - the pasta part was decent, sauce was as expected for ordering stroganoff at a bar and grill. The beef wasn't tough to chew. I'd prefer less protein and more pasta for a lower price, bc for $30ish bucks, I started to think about how I'd rather spend the same amount for the pasta from a recent visit to Be.Steak.A, even though it is smaller in portion there. Extended and immediate family have an affinity for Chili's (yes, the chain) so I find myself there time to time. And honestly this was on par with my recent Chili's experience food wise. Went here last night with friends for dinner. We wanted to try a new place and I had heard good things. Restaurant is very pretty inside. It's not too loud and it had the sports stuff on TVs but it's not annoying. Service was excellent. Apologies as I don't remember his name but he took great care of us. Our food came out fast too! Food was delish. I had the salmon burger. It was moist and tender. Hubby had the rib sando and loved it. Our friends had the French dip and the tacos. Everyone was happy. For dessert we shared the churros- delicious and served with chocolate and caramel sauce. They have a great outdoor area too that we will try when the weather gets better. First time trying Stamp and I'm very impressed! Nice, welcoming bar and grill nestled in the heart of Laurel Street. I heard great things about the food and service, and fellow Yelpers brag on about Stamp, so I broke down and gave them a try this evening. By far, the BEST rib eye on Laurel Street! My order was to go, arrived swiftly during Saturday dinner rush and was packed thoughtfully. The rib eye is accompanied by some tasty scalloped potatoes and a green veggie, I had sautéed green beans. The rib eye was grilled to a perfect medium then basted in butter and thyme, I nearly did a few back flips over this one! Seriously nice quality and flavorful, great cut. Folks here did right by this entree. Strongly recommend for steak lovers. Pricing is spot on for their menu and they have lots to offer varying tastes. I believe parts of their menu is seasonal. I had an old fashion, watermelon Moscow Mule and a passion fruit hurricane. The Moscow Mule tasted like cough syrup and it wasn't fresh watermelon puree. The old fashion didn't have much bitter. Other dishes people had were- the grilled chicken sandwich (delicious!), the salmon (delicious!), the super food salad with salmon (delicious!), the impossible burger (delicious!), and the Mac and cheese (delicious!). The tuna poke was meh- needed more flavor or something? The hot brownie dessert was generously portioned, decadent and yummy, as was the flourless chocolate cake (basically a wedge of ganache or something!). I'm only giving a four rather than five rating because $13 for seven small strips of cheese garlic bread and $8 for a small added serving of mashed potatoes is excessive. We suspect the cooks thought they were supposed to substitute mashed potatoes for most of the veggies, because the plate came with only a small amount of mashed potatoes and just a garnish of veggies, but the bill still had the $8 added mashed potato charge. I was in nearby Redwood City and was looking for a restaurant in which to chill out, have a bite to eat, and wait for the traffic to die down before I went back home to Santa Clara. I found my way down to Laurel Street in San Carlos where I've been before and I knew there was a lot of good restaurants down here. I walked up and down the street and picked Stamp Bar and Grill has it looked like the sort of place I was looking to spend time in. I had one of their own special cocktails, which was some kind of tequila and fruit thing and it was delightful. Keeping it simple for dinner I ordered the French dip with fries and it was very good. But best of all the ambience and the service here is top-notch, which is a little surprising considering that the prices are very reasonable. If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. 130 DOLLARS FOR trash service and quality. Came here for what was supposed to be a nice steak dinner and it was a disaster from start to finish. My steak came out HALF FAT - literally inedible. When I asked for a new one, the server tried to gaslight me by saying "it's just the cut." Funny, because my friend's steak wasn't drowning in fat and had WAY LESS FAT than mine. Only after showing them the difference did they finally acknowledge it, and even then I had to wait another 20 minutes. To make it worse - there was a freaking fly in my Coke. When I pointed it out, the server had the audacity to ask, "Did it go in just now?" Like WHY is there a fly in my drink at all??? He shrugged, took the drink, said "ok," and handed us the check like everything was normal. No apology. No compensation. Just pure indifference. Disgusting food, even worse service, and a complete lack of accountability. Don't waste your money or your appetite at Stamp Bar and Grill. This place is trash. read more

I haven't been to San Carlos for a few years, the section of the Laurel Street where the restaurant is located is blocked on a Saturday night, so you need to find parking somewhere else, and we find parking close by. The menu has many choices and we are a group of 6, we ordered the following items: Fried Calamari - tastes ok it has fried lemon as well ! Ahi Tuna Poke - it comes with some chips and tastes pretty good, will re-order Fresh Linguini & Clams - tastes great, will re-order Beet & Goat Cheese Ravioli - tastes good too, but I am not a big fan of ravioli Seafood Paella - everyone loves this dish, it has good amount of seafood and portion is good too, will definitely re-order Mango Creme Brulee - tastes very good and unique, will definitely re-order too Key Lime cheesecake - I am not a big fan of cheesecake, but this one tastes good too IMO, everything is presented well and tastes good, I don't find anything in our order below average. I will definitely come back for future gatherings. Also, pricewise is pretty reasonable compare to other restaurants in the bay area, they only charge 18% gratuity for more than 8, and there is no additional employee health surcharge (which is becoming common outside SF nowadays) added to the bill.
