It's been a while since I've been here, but i can say it was just as good as I remember. Of the two BYO pizza places in town, I prefer pyros (even though blaze has better/more diverse toppings). The crust is thinner, which is my personal preference. The restaurant is much cleaner. They offers red pepper flakes, parmesan, oregano, and different hot sauces for toppings once you get your pizza. They have a freestyle coke machine and alcohol. And lastly, the workers are much friendlier. Been to Pyro's twice now. It's a nice place, and not terribly expensive considering the quality of the ingredients, the huge array of options, and the modern atmosphere. It's a lot like Moe's or Chipotle, but with pizza or salad. There are a few of their own creations always available, but most of the time, people build their own meals. Service has been very pleasant both times. Tables and bathrooms are mostly quite clean, and employees are quick to bus empty plates. The first time, I was feeling a little sick to my stomach from spending all day out in a lot of heat, so I only ordered the savory bread bites. They were alright. Not terribly flavorful, but what could be THAT wrong about balls of dough? Marinara dipping sauce was tasty. Yesterday, I went with some girlfriends in between classes. I got a snack size pizza with pepperoni and ranch drizzle on top. They listened to me when I asked for light sauce, so that always makes me happy. I could have done with a little more pepperoni, though. The mozzarella was ooey gooey and yummy. This pizza has very thin crust, so don't come here if that's not your thing. It's definitely my thing, though, and I liked the crunch! Be mindful, if you're like me and can throw down when you're hungry, a snack size pizza might not do it on the full factor. My mom and I went to Pyro's on a Sunday, and experienced pretty bad service. The guy who made our pizza acted like he did not want to be there, and kept grabbing ingredients and dumping them on one area of the pizza without really spreading them out. Then he put our pizza on the side of the oven and didn't put it in until after he made and placed three other people. His manager had to come by and put the pizza in when he noticed it on the side and had been forgotten. The pizza itself was good, and the ingredients were fresh. My main compliant is just that all the toppings were clumped in the center of the pizza because of the way he placed it. Also, they must have been short staffed while we were there, because almost all of the tables in the restaurant were dirty and we had to clear our own area in order to site down. I would be willing to try again another day because the food was good, but I hope that the service is improved because that made the experience much worse than it should have been. read more

I give this venue a 5 for their willingness to listen to the requests of a 6 yr old, friendly staff, patience and they help you out with questions asked. An of course this so far is the best build your own pizza place I have been too! The thin curst concept along with ample topping selection and not skimpy on what goes on the pizza made it! My daughter got the pepperoni and sausage pizza and eat the whole thing. I ventured into there specialty pizza and got the large southwestern and a side salad. Starting off this girl ran into me and skipped everyone in line. But that's not why I'm giving this place one star. I'm giving this place one star because they got my order completely wrong and I literally told them my order right in front of me and watched the pizza go down-the-line. Then the one part I couldn't see they somehow managed to give me a completely new order. The bathrooms were filthy. With only cold water to wash your hands. One of the employees walked over to the end station and put a bucket of soapy water in a slot. While doing so he poured the soapy water over peoples pizza!?!? Have some common sense people. There is a station full of completely made pizzas made pizzas and this dude decides to hover over the pizzas with a completely full bucket of soapy dishwashing water or something?? Management needs to evaluate this situation this is probably why they gave me some random pizza they probably just poured the water off my pizza then tossed it back in the oven for a minute. We were concerned with how small they were cutting the "small pizza" since we have been here many times before and the "smalls" have never been that small before. They were cutting them smaller. I told her I was just making sure that would be brought food for him and she continued to act and sound aggressive towards me. I'm almost positive this joint is marketed towards college students. Came in around 5:00 p.m. on 1/19 not only did the expo let my pizza sit out, getting cold, for over 5 minutes it was so unbelievably burnt I couldn't even eat it. I watched someone not pay for their meal while another kind stranger paid for it. Something the manager should have comped and not let a random person pay. So, no I did not ask for a refund because it didn't even seem possible to get because the manager was expoing, running the pizza oven, AND cashing out guest. Bless that poor man's soul. This is not the entree I am used to. This is also a remake pizza that I requested because the first one was not cooked thoroughly. Not sure if you all have changed things but this was crazy to me even the crust was off and the pizza was not filling at all. LOOK AT ALL THIS FREAKING SPINACH! I even told them they could stop there and they just dumped the rest on the pizza. Decided to come here after work, because my guys wanted pizza and no one in town is showing the fight. First off, they have a crazy hand washing machine. I had nasty hands from grinding metal all day and they were perfectly clean afterwards...anyways on to supper. The restaurant is really nice and clean and is setup much in the same manner as Chipotle, but for pizza or salad. I didn't get salad so I can't speak to that, but as for pizza you can get a number of specialty pizzas or make your own with numerous types of cheeses, meats, vegetables, and sauces. There were too many to name, but if you can think of it, they probably had it. I got mine with spicy marinara, monzarella/cheddar mix, pepperoni, Italian sausage, bacon, fresh jalepenos, banana peppers, onions, and bell peppers. I thought it was pretty good for wood fired pizza. My only complaint is that is was pretty small especially with the thin crust. An hour later, I'm still pretty hungry, but at $8.60 for a wood fired pizza I can't complain too much. Sweet tea was super good. Would come back. read more

You start at the beginning, picking out your pizza or building your own custom pizza. They have a wide variety of vegetable and meat toppings, but the menu is also designed to cater to a variety of tastes and preferences. Then, the pizza bakes in a fiery oven. All pizzas are personal sizes, but larger than other personal pans--closer to 7-7.5 inches. I ordered the Southwestern pizza without meat and some extras added on. Jasper ordered the Raging Hawaiian and we shared a Mediterranean salad. I went a little overboard and ordered sweet and savory bites: the savory are like breadstick balls and the sweet are more like cinnamon bun balls. The customer service was wonderful, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. I wish there was a location in Birmingham, AL! read more

As I have worked in the custom pizza service, I must say this place overly outshines the other options herein Tuscaloosa. E.g. pieology. They are much more hospitable and More time efficient than Pieology. Their crust and ingredients are much fresher. The people behind the line are so nice and knowledgeable about the product. Decided to try this place because of the great reviews. The ambience is pretty nice, employees are friendly, and the food was better than expected. This is sorta like the chipotle version of a pizza spot. You choose your pizza (or can make your own) and they put it in the oven and it's out in less than 5 minutes! I tried the southwestern pizza, sweet Cajun chicken salad, pesto pizza, garlic knots, and rice crispy treat. Here are my ratings on each of the items I tried: Southwestern pizza: 4.5 stars Cajun chicken salad: 3.5 stars Pesto pizza: 4 stars Garlic knots: 2 stars (it just tasted like bits of bread dipped in oil) Rice crispy treat: 4 stars I really like the concept and how quick the pizza is served. Stopped by for a quick bite and was not disappointed! From make your own pizza to picking one off the menu, they have it all. The pizzas are on the smaller size if you're trying to share family style, but overall very delicious! They have a nice outdoor seating area for pleasant weather and the service was great. Dessert was my favorite, we ordered one of the huge cinnamon rolls and was able to split it between three people with plenty leftover. It was warm and gooey and might be one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. I would definitely return if just for dessert alone. read more

The staff honestly is super rude. It's like you're fighting to order because they act like you shouldn't be there or are inconveniencing them by interrupting their personal conversations. I would put shoes on my dog if I was gonna bring him here the floor is nasty. Make sure to get an extra napkin so u can unfold it on the seat to sit on, otherwise crumbs will be left as evidence on the back of your thighs that you were at Pyros. The girl that made my pizza was also cooking her own personal pizza while wearing her personal purse. Her puff ball keychain literally dipped into my pizza. Just super unprofessional all around. One manager is super nice but all the others just don't seem to care about their jobs. This isn't a one time occurrence either they always act this way. I finally got an opportunity to try this pizza spot! I was actually looking for the pizza place on the strip that offers a more diverse menus like pasta etc but this one was bookmarked! Pyros is similar to subway you go thru the line and choose bread sauce cheeses toppings but they do have specialty pizzas you can order like pepperoni supreme Hawaiian etc that you can change up the toppings to ya likings but I decided on pepperoni ham and pineapple for my toppings! The pizza I believe was 12 inches or something but it's more of a personal size cut up into about 8 slices that can be shared with more of a SO or smaller child IMO but i doubt it feeds a family with my multi people! I actually shared it with my 2 year old and it was enough for me to take like 3 slices home for later ! It's a really cool chill spot that isn't really a family restaurant since the menu is somewhat limited to one size pizza and they have a cute mini bar that serves a alcoholic beverages !! I would definitely return with friends so we can eat and sip on a nice drink after 5 ! That's the vibe I got from the decorations and the crowd ! The arrangement with the high top seating and small chairs and lack of high chair seating! But I did enjoy my pizza and the sauce was great and the toppings were fresh!
