When there was an unfortunate red pen incident on my husbands best work pants, I searched the yelp reviews for any dry cleaners that had success with a stain of this magnitude. This one rose to the top. When I called, the owner was honest and said she would not guarantee the stain removal. I came in and she said it once again. Willing to take the risk, I left the pants. She called a day later- the stain completely came out. The price was insanely good. I like that she doesn't promise, but works hard to make sure you are satisfied. I'm going to try to make this long story short- My friend asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding & she had our measurements taken & she sent them to a woman online to make the dresses in order to save us money (which I def appreciated) but when we got them back they were HUGE. All of the dresses had a good 4 inches added. I found Connie on yelp & came with dress in tow. The seams and hem were uneven & wonky- I was nearly in tears (I didn't care all that much but I paid a pretty penny for that dress & now was looking at paying alterations, so ya- nearly in tears for my wallet's sake). When I came out of the dressing room I had to hold the dress on me because it would fall off. (I guess I should mention that I'm a bigger girl, but damn, I'm not THAT big of a girl! Give me a break!) We just stood looking in the mirror puzzled and Connie asked me where I got the dress & I told her the whole story. She smiled, shook her head, muttered 'way too big' and grabbed a handful of clips. We brainstormed about ways to make the dress more flattering and she took the time to really look at it on me and came to the conclusion that anything besides taking it in on the sides would cost way more than the dress is worth. Loved the honesty! She could have easily told me 'yes I can do that' and charged me an arm and a leg. Understandably it took about a week to do the dress, and when I picked it up- wow. She fit it perfectly. It looks like a whole new dress. I'm actually looking forward to wearing it now! She took about 3-4inches off of each side of the dress for about $40- not too bad given the material and bad shape the dress was in before. And she fixed the hem without mentioning it on the original quote- she just noticed it towards the end of my first fitting and made a mental note of it and just fixed it- a true perfectionist who's good at her craft! :) A+ would recommend. read more

Terrible and unreliable service. I dropped off my husbands dress shirt two days before our wedding to be cleaned and pressed. I made it clear that I HAD to pick it up the next day and was told that was fine and it would be ready after one o clock. The next day my father in law swung by to pick it up and was informed that it wouldn't be ready until the NEXT day at one. After a very strongly worded phone call from myself (which I NEVER do) they accommodated us but not before giving the bride a mild heart attack. They might be great for your run of the mill weekly dry cleaning. But under no circumstances should ANYTHING time sensitive be taken here. read more

Year ago, I took 2 of our Son's favorite jackets to Conni for installation of zippers! One jacket was a heavy leather jacket with a large metal zipper. Other was a wide jacket type zipper, missing the zipper pull, so I was sure she would need to install a new zipper. At "pick up time", she had replaced the pull with the exact color of the original zipper!! Looked brand new!!! She repaired them quickly and to perfection as he was home only 3 days! Her prices are very reasonable and her work is excellent. Since then, she has repaired more jacket zippers for us and done other repairs to our complete satisfaction. She also designed and sewed new elbow patches on a jacket ...making it wearable again! She will remain our special person to do all our family "repairs". She's the BEST! read more

Excellent for dry cleaning and alterations. They successfully removed makeup (foundation) from a skirt and cleaned my work blouses and winter coats for an affordable price. I had been avoiding this dry cleaning for over 1.5 years because I have bad experiences with other places. Additionally, I recently picked up alterations for two work skirts, workout pants (hemmed), and an expensive sweater that had moth holes. All turned out beautifully. I thought the moth sweater was ruined, but Connie patched them up and you can barely tell where the holes were!! Thanks for saving clothes I love that needed some care! Keep in mind I have been to three other alterations places that were subpar, compared to Connie's. Not only do you receive great quality, but excellent customer service as well! Thank you! I've been to this place twice, and it will definitely be the last time. The first time, I dropped off a tuxedo. She told me it would definitely be ready in around a week and for me to pick it up on a Monday. I came in on a Tuesday and she said it wasn't ready. The second time, my Fiance took in her wedding dress. We stressed the importance of it and the time it had to be ready. She said it would take a week and again promised us a date. We arrived on the date she told us and low and behold she hadn't even started on it. We expressed our frustration but she doesn't care. Her English is terrible and she plays the ignorant card. No discount, no sympathy, nothing... My advice, spend your money elsewhere where they actually care about customer service and can communicate with you in English. read more

I am a professional musician and periodically have to perform wearing a tux. I brought in my pleated tux shirt to Q and had to pay a premium to have the shirt cleaned, but started to notice over time that I was getting pressed in wrinkles in the tux shirt pleats. I pointed this out to her, and she complained about having to fix them, and got pretty nasty with me. It appears that she has been charging me extra for a tux shirt without doing the work! She was treating it like any other shirt and using her big press and pressing in wrinkles! What a ripoff!!! She refused to fix her pressed in wrinkles, so I am taking my business elsewhere, and I suggest others do too. read more

I brought in a suit jacket not long ago and wanted it taken in. She was very good about trying to incorporate how I wanted the jacket to fit with how the seams were. When I picked it up, it was actually a lot tighter than I wanted so she worked on it more without charging me for the extra work. A few weeks later, I walked away with a well fitted suit jacket. With the added work, it was worth the price I paid for the alteration - plus I got a slight discount from my Yelp check in! I would definitely recommend this place for an alteration job! read more

I brought a large pile of shirts, dresses, and pants, adding up to 11 articles a few months back. When I dropped off the items they were all counted, labeled, and everything was very organized. When I returned to pick up it was in the middle of the day, and one of the seamstresses was the only person working. She did not speak much English, was slightly confused about finding things and taking payment, but took my ticket and went hunting for my items. She came back with half of my things, didn't count them, and prepared to check me out. After I counted and noticed several blouses were missing, she again went hunting, with a confused and lost face. She clearly did not know where my other items were. After a few minutes she came back with another few, but still missing some. I ended up helping her hunt for my last couple of items for a few minutes. One shirt was a white button up blouse that was all by itself, unlabeled, and on a rack completely separate from where my other things were found. Anger very colorful blouse was unlabeled, bagged by itself, and in another place. This was very alarming, since I could have easily left without counting, assuming the staff did their job, and my blouses could have gone missing without labels. The woman helping was definitely aware of this problem, but indicated this happens frequently, as their system of labeling and bunching orders together is not good. Given her difficultly with English, the hunting for my clothes process was very difficult as I tried to explain what my shirts looked like. I will not be back. read more

Dropped a shirt off for alterations on the 26th, was told it wouldn't be ready until the 6th. Came back on the 10th, 4 days after it was supposed to be ready and it wasn't ready. So I come back the next day and there's a hole in my brand new shirt!asked for a refund and then all of a sudden they acted like they didn't understand English. Poor customer service and waste of money! Janet- if the cut was already there why would I pay $30 to get the shirt altered and not ask you to fix the hole? It was a brand new shirt the definitely didn't have the hole when I dropped it off! Like I told the owner I'm not saying you all did it on purpose but the fact that you all refuse to take ownership for it is more of a reason that I wouldn't recommend you guys! read more

I moved to central Austin but Q Alterations & Cleaners will always be my dry cleaners! The ladies that work here are extremely nice and the prices are affordable. The store front and the store itself is small but they are able to handle a lot of dry cleaning and alterations. They have one reserved spot for pick up and drop offs in front of their store which is very convenient. I had a dress altered a few years ago that was flawlessly done and today I picked up my boyfriend's suit jacket and dress shirt which were dry cleaned in two days. I tried this place based on the yelp reviews. They did a great job with an alteration but my dry cleaning had a horrible chemical smell to it. They offered to fix it but when I went back to pick it up, still smelled awful, like vomit. They offered to try again and I refused. They would not refund me but ended up not charging me for my husband's clothes. His were a fraction of the cost of my initial drop off. Very disappointing experience and I hoping another cleaner can take care of the smell. I'm upset about wearing something with all of these chemicals! I would not drive out of my way for this place if you're considering it. read more

Connie is the main seamstress at Q alterations and she does the best alterations in town. I come to her to get shirts, jackets, dresses, sweatshirts, and even backpacks fixed. She has fixed holes so well that you can't even see where the damage was to begin with, and has even repaired difficult zipper issues. She also shortened my dress just perfectly. I bought 2 Calvin Klein dresses and one of them was a size 12 and I am a size 2/4, so I was swimming in it! That is until Connie worked her magic! That size 12 dress fit like a glove, just the way it was suppose to. The other dress was my proper size, I just needed it taken in at the bust and hips. She did a fantastic job on both dresses. When I picked it up, not only was it done well, for a great price, she also pointed out that one of the panels on the suit was a slightly different color, which I couldn't even notice until looking carefully under the light. No stars! It would not let me not choose a star. They don't speak English and completely inconvenienced us by not understanding the urgency of getting our clothes the next day. Even though I called to make sure we could get them the next day to make sure! Then when I dropped the clothes off they reassured it would be done by 5pm the next day. Now it is the next day and they tell me it won't be ready until 5pm tomorrow. It was a suit for my husband who leaves at 530 in the morning for a flight. So now we have to go buy a suit....
