There is a new salon here in place of Q Ba called "Butterfly Nail Spa" and I came in on a whim because I was tired of driving up town or to Great Neck for nail services and I won't look back. BAD REVIEW for "Q Ba Nails" on Shore Road I hate bad reviews. More-so, I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was so outrageous, I have no choice. I treated my 87 year old mother to a mani-pedi. We've been going to 'Q Ba Nails' on Shore Road for years, ever since it was Gallery Nails. Today, we got there at 1pm, I told them that "I want the nails short short." Then I asked when I can pick her up. They said 40 minutes. I came back asked, "How much?" They said "$30." I looked at Mom's nails, turned to the manicurist and said that "I wanted them very short." She argued what I meant. I gave in out of disgust & disapproval. I took out my credit card to pay. Then they said "Cash only." When I asked, "Why?" She said, "It's easier." I said, "It's never only cash. You have a credit card machine and show pictures that you take credit cards. I don't have the cash." She then said, "Doesn't matter, we are doing cash only." About another 3 minutes of arguing, I said that "I don't have the cash, that I'd have to go to the bank, to get the cash." They told me, "The dry cleaner has an ATM machine to give me cash." - [That makes me uneasy, when a merchant becomes a 'cash only' then directs you to a out-of-bank cash machine.] - So, then I stated that I'm going to my bank, (Chase on Main Street), they kept trying to directing me to the ATM. Then, I started to put Mom into the car, then they INSISTED that Mom is to stay there until I return. Is it that they were holding her hostage until I returned??? (Well, that's what it felt like to me.) I left and returned some 30 minutes later. You'd think that's where this dreadful story ends, but NO! With the $30, plus a $10 tip in hand, I got back. I mean, it's not the manicurist's fault that the owner only takes cash. BUT... When I started to pay, I asked for a receipt. The manicurist, (not the owner), took a small piece of paper from a blank pad, wrote a 'Korean symbol' and the "$30" and tried to give it to me. Quizzically, I said, "This is not a receipt. I want a real receipt." They said that "This is what we use." I said, "No. I want a receipt with the business name, address, telephone...." They interrupted me saying, "No. No. This is what we have." At that moment, another customer said, "Well, what can you do?" I said, "Well, for one, I'm never coming back here again. And second, I can advertise the bad review I'm about to give them." Needless to say, there was no tip. As I'm writing this, I'm recalling the whole situation. (1) Lousy workmanship, (2) arguing with me that I wanted a better job done, (3) not telling me that it's a Cash Only transaction, (4) holding my mother "hostage" until I return back, & (5) not giving a real receipt. This place is now called Butterfly Nails. It's terrible! It came highly recommended. I am only on the pedicure and she finished without filing or taking care of my cuticles for the pedicure. Left nails sharp on the corner. She was only interested in selling me services, and seemed annoyed when I didn't take the $10 upcharge for callous remover, and the 10 minute massage. Now she is dry cutting and just made my big toe bleed. We are leaving without manicures and will never, ever come back! read more

The absolute best! Always friendly staff and super clean. The sns powder gel manicure is fantastic - doesn't chip or peel (even after 2 weeks) & they have a large color collection too. The spa pedicures are also great. My favorite is the golden dream spa pedicure which comes with a free regular manicure included in the package price & a 20 min leg massage. I needed a Gel manicure, my hands were soo dry, so chipped and needed some T(ender) L(oving) C(are). Candy is awesome!. She saved my hands!. Walked in after a not so great experience with the nail salon across the street and they took me no problem. These people are kind and great at what they do, no judgments or attitude. The woman who did my nails, Julie I think her name was, was precise and a perfectionist when it came to doing my nails. Loved this place, was a bit expensive for my taste but I also got gel tips from scratch, so it makes sense why. I would definitely recommend this to anyone! Lovely people and great work! read more

Good nail salon in the neighborhood with parking in front. Gel manicures are nicely priced at $25 and they have specials for mani pedi Monday to Wednesday. The staff is extremely nice and always welcoming. The location is large enough so you feel comfortable! The only thing I wish they had was a larger selection for gel color. I'm scared I won't find more colors I like after some time. Hopefully they get more in! read more

Came in to do a gel manicure originally then my manicurist Stephanie recommend SNS which lasts longer so I thought why don't give a try. I love it how it came out, the service was good, offer complementary drink like water or tea, also Stephanie is sweet and nice. The price is fair, atmosphere is quiet and good. UPDATE: March 2018 Starting to get bummed out about coming here. There have been a few times I waited past my appointment (not the end of the world, but I have a toddler at home with the hubby), and service has been inconsistent as well. The male techs who have helped me out applied polish unevenly with some spots requiring more polish, other spots where polish is on the cuticle. Top coat is never applied completely over the nail...which makes me crazy. It feels rushed and has a lack of attention to detail. Also makes it more prone to immediate chipping. The last time I had a gel manicure by a female tech, she applied the top sealant quickly and didn't notice that it was uneven and completely streaky, which I noticed as soon as I walked outside. I had to return to ask for another layer of the top sealant and had to sit for it to cure under the lamp again. For some reason, there is inconsistent use of the disposable nail file and buffers. Tub liners are still used for pedicures, but I don't understand not always using the disposables. Parking continues to be a nightmare in this strip mall as it is far too narrow and does not have adequate space for the amount of people who frequent these businesses. This has always been the case but people just pull out of their spots without looking or dart by if you're trying to carefully pull out yourself. -------------------------------------------- This place used to be "Nail Gallery" and has switched ownership several times since I moved to town. Port has far too many nail salons, and many seem to provide mediocre service and work...not to mention questionable sanitation practices. In my search for a good and CLEAN (important!) salon, I used to venture out to Serene in Great Neck. Huge pain to get to, but the cleanliness and service made the drive and prices they charge, worth it. Two women who worked there left and bought this salon in Nov. 2016, which was great, but sold it again within five months and it is now Q Ba Nails. I was really bummed that I lost my favorite nail techs that I followed back here, but the techs who work at Q Ba are efficient. Tools come out of sealed autoclave packages, and they use disposable files and buffers, and pedicure tub liners. Plus, they recently purchased an entire new set of Essie polishes (after the last owners kept old and goopy polish bottles), and they have new sets of Perfect Match gel manicure/regular polishes. I was upset with my usual spot so I came here to get my powder manicure redone- it was all great until someone came to get a wax when I was 2 minutes from being done and my tech left to do the wax.... I sat there for close to 15 minutes waiting for her to finish, but that is my only complaint. The color choice is great, the salon is small, but clean. read more

I asked for a particular design for my nails and they could do it. They have no idea how to even do Sns nails. They don't know how to shape your nails and they are very slow. I'm writing this as my pedicure is being finished up. All I have to say is, NEVER AGAIN!! -Wait time: 15 minutes (but from what I saw, they overbook and people ended up waiting) -Cleanliness: Not so much. Containers with scrub and mud were filthy. Toe nail clippings and foot filings all over the floor. (Yes, dead skin off of someone else's foot) -Quality of pedicure: Barely pushed my cuticles back on one foot only; she forgot the other foot. Barely cleaned my cuticles and barely filed my toe nails. Massage was pointless; no pressure whatsoever. Burned me with the hot stone. Caked on lotion on my legs. I had to ask her to wipe it off as she attempted to pull my pants down over the lotion. -Quality of manicure: Here she did a better job with my cuticles. The paint job was terrible. I have ridges and bumps on about 6 of my nails. Not smooth at all. And the massage was pointless again. Would not go back if you paid me to. Very unsatisfied. read more

This place is no good with gel manicures or pedicures. Whoever owns q bad nails just bought the place as is. Didn't bother changing the nail polish which is all old and goopy. Looks like the place is falling apart and you know when the place is serious about cleanliness and appearance and they don't have tape holding up part of their sink cabinet. That shows you there, how serious they are about a nail salon. I got a gel manicure, she didn't really do a good job. She left cuticles and the nail got chipped one day later. (YEs, chipped on a gel manicure) I go back no the owner corrected it and then she corrected another three without me saying anything, so right there I'm sure she noticed a not so good job. I got the pedicure and gel manicure Tuesday - the same week Saturday I went cause two toe nails chipped, the corrected gel chipped again and that has never happened to me ever, anywhere. So they fixed it but at that point I changed both nail colors to a light pastel caused I didn't want to go a 4th time. When I left I thanked them, as I though that they still corrected my issue, no answer. I said thank you again very loudly, no one lifted there head to say your welcome or I'm sorry you had this experience again. Everyone spoke perfect English the day before. Very unhappy! read more
