The best BBQ outside of Texas!! As a native Texan, I know great BBQ. And Q BBQ has fantastic Q! The brisket is moist, delicious and packed with flavor. I absolutely love the Texas Spicy BBQ sauce. The ribs, pulled pork, and chicken are also really good. But, I have to say that the burnt ends are spectacular!! Wow! It is the most flavor-packed piece of beef you can find. As for their sides, I think this is where they really set themselves apart. They are just plain awesome. The french fries are hand-cut, double fried, the way that God intended. The Q puppies are heavenly. And I love the Brussel sprouts...yeah...Brussel Sprouts...they are freaking fried!!!! This is a tough review for me. On one hand, the food was decent and the service was above average. On the other hand, it felt more like a quick in and out place than a true sit down establishment. In order for me to accurately rate Q-BBQ, I must compare it to my favorite BBQ spots, Smoque and Bombers. Q-BBQ doesn't compare to these two joints unfortunately. Another downfall is the pricing. I ordered pick up from QBBQ in Oak Park, on Saturday 3/26/2022. My husband was going to pay and pick it up. When I called to order for pick up, they said I had to pay at the time of the call. I was surprised but did as they asked. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and hush puppies, my husband ordered beef burnt ends and chicken wings. I got FOOD POISONING. My wife and I came here and got brisket sandwiches. We were not disappointed. The brisket was moist and tender. We got both of our sandwiches "Q-style" which means that we paid $1.50 extra to get the toppings that Q-BBQ recommends. This was a good decision. We also got beans and mac and cheese (technically, Mac-Q-Cheese) and these were very good. The checkout line is out the door while there's another register doing nothing for "pick up" only. How about check out take-out orders too? Q's downtown Oak Park location is great. The decor is lovely (including the bathroom!) and it's extremely kid-friendly. However, the food was nothing special. We paid $31 for lunch for two people - a bit steep for a restaurant with counter service. Portions were generous (one protein with two sides), but nothing on the plate was particularly appetizing. The "Mexican street corn" side seemed to have been made with frozen corn (odd choice for a Midwestern restaurant in June) and the pulled chicken was drowning in barbecue sauce. (What were the bottles on the table even for?) Similarly, the mashed potatoes were swimming in gravy. I'd consider giving Q a second chance for the location alone, but with so many other options in the area, I'm not sure when I'll rush to get back. read more

I went to Q BBQ for lunch, and it was a wonderful experience, from start to finish. There weren't many people there for lunch on a weekday, so I chose a wonderful booth near the window. Within just a couple of minutes from ordering our food, it was at our table with wonderful service getting it there. My food was absolutely delicious. Great location comes with a hefty price tag for its customers. Ouch! Expect to pay $15 for lunch. One entree, drink and side. Don't get me wrong, the BBQ is delicious but when you serve a Western Salad with loads of lettuce and only 3oz of actual meat, it's a hard sale for Oak Parkers who want to get their money's worth. When it's on point, it can't be beat. I had the sampler baby back ribs and they were hot, smoky, saucy, meaty, and tangy. They were so tasty, I was wishing I'd ordered the full slab. So the next time I went in, I ordered the full slab (I took most home). Guess what? The ribs were lukewarm, kind of tough in places, and not juicy as before. I'm not sure what to think. Maybe the first time, because I went early in the day, the food was hot prepared, and the second time, because I went in the evening, they were serving meat that was cooked earlier? I'm not sure what to make of the lack of consistency, but it's concerning, to say the least! The pulled pork sandwich, served "Q style" for an extra buck fifty, is probably not how I would order it again. I had to slather on the bbq sauce to give it that pulled pork flavor (and the pork wasn't really pulled, more like chopped). The French fries are excellent, crunchy and salty, and the Mexican corn has a nice kick. I don't care for the Hush Puppies, but the spicy Brussels sprouts are scrumptious (are those Jalapeno peppers in there, or Serrano? Either way: Yum!). I've had my share of BBQ, and I know each person likes it their way. I like my pork juicy and deeply smoked with no time being left to "steam" and turn flavorless and I like my smokey and brisket fatty. In my opinion, the pork and brisket are a solid "A minus". The chicken and turkey flavor are pretty standard, I would say "B+" because it's always very juicy. The wings are decent, but not something you should go out of your way for - same as the ribs. The burnt ends are fantastic, but you can't eat a whole meal of them. They are just too complex, however you should at least try them. All of the sides are good, the beans are my favorite even if they are a little sweet, they do have a nice kick to them at the end. My only complaint about this place, and the reason I can't give them 4 stars is because of their french fries. They are a "D minus" for size and flavor. I wouldn't eat them at all. read more

I had there burnt ends over summer and they were fantastic. Recently I went there for my birthday and had the Memphis ribs which i thought were very good. Personally, I would have gone for the burnt ends again, best I've ever had. The seating area was a bit more fast food than i anticipated, I thought there would have been a bar, but it's more like a Chipotle atmosphere. What can I say negative about Q-BBQ? Absolutely nothing! My husband and I have wanted to try this place for some time now, and I had my chance last night. It was delicious. I had the Memphis wings, pulled pork, corn bread, baked beans, and fritters, and nothing, I mean nothing disappointed me. The wings had a hickory/sweet taste (nothing like I have had before) and it was super delicious. I'm not a huge pork fan, because I do not always like the grittiness or taste of it, but I tasted my husbands pulled pork, and it was so flavorful and tender. The cornbread was moist and slightly sweet which I loved, and the corn fritters were crispy (and not oily) and full of flavor (just like everything else). Even the baked beans were crafted with expertise and to perfection. I sincerely hope the Oak Park location keep this sort of flavor profile and standard. I've always wanted to try this place, so I decided to stop today. And the food and service was outstanding, exceeded my expectations. My boyfriend and I had a slab of ribs along with the bake beans and the mashed, it was very good. We also had the Memphis wings which was outstanding also, the dry rub was excellent. HOME, HOME on LaGRANGE I first discovered Q-BBQ in a western suburban downtown location (LaGrange). I was visiting my niece that weekend, and she suggested this joint for lunch. When I found out they had one in Oak Park, we hit it up several times for lunch. This is not a place where you can take your family because you will spend a small fortune and likely bust your monthly eat-out budget. I highly recommend the sliced (not the shredded) brisket. It is tender. It is flavorful. I always order a "side" of hush puppies. DIP THEM in BBQ. You'll thank me later! Seriously, the sauce elevates the puppies (woooof-woooof) to the next level. I do not write many reviews on Yelp (as you can tell), but decided since we have eaten here more than 5 times, I would share my own experience. All of their sandwiches are served with only 2-hush puppies which is why I always order a "side" of their hush puppies. The buns are always fresh and consistent which I appreciate. Their brisket is cooked for over 20 hours in hickory apple wood. If you really want to taste the hickory flavor, skip the BBQ sauce altogether. Their brisket IS ALWAYS tender. If you want the "burnt" ends on your sandwich you must ORDER THE BURNT ENDS sandwich (not the regular brisket sandwich). Otherwise, if you do not specify "burnt ends" you will end up with NO burnt ends. We live in the city (about 20-minutes away from Oak Park). Their mac n cheese is also very good and creamy. They serve it with cheddar cheez-crackers on top (crumbled up). I don't like these crackers, so I always request "leave them off, please." Another excellent "side" is their homemade mashed potatoes. I highly recommend these (especially if you are not a fan of french fries). Whenever we see a movie at the Lake Theater (walking distance from this joint) and we have a taste for flavorful, tender BBQ, we hit up Q-BBQ for lunch. Parking is really challenging -- at times very difficult -- which is why I am giving this joint only 4-stars. There is a very small parking lot almost connected to the restaurant, but it is always full. We usually park in the street. There are other additional parking lots in the area though. My husband always orders the shredded pork sandwich. Order your food, pay for it, and they bring your order to your table/booth. There are several different BBQ sauces on the table. I like the spicy one (has a bit of a kick to it). The environment is casual with exposed brick walls, but it is always cold inside so bring a light sweater or jacket. My second attempt at this new location. Long wait lines to order. Ran out of ribs at 7:55 pm but the owner Michael was very accommodating in giving me a full credit plus a free burnt ends meal. The wait was worth it! The flavors were spot on. The smoke was amazing. The sauces were delicious. I tried each of the three. My favorite was the vinegar sauce which surprised me. I loved, loved, loved the Brussels sprouts. If your a fan you must get them. Your meal comes with hush puppies plus two sides of your choice. I'll work my way through the various sides. Two women waiting in line behind me mentioned they stop by because the smell of barbecue drew them toward the place. This is a much needed place since we have no local barbecue place in the area.
