Had been referred this several times and finally was able to drop in after a ballroom dance less. I csn tell why so many people rave about it. A hidden gem for sure. Ordered the smaller platter so we could try just about everything and it was out watering. I'm extremely picky when it comes to BBQ as my fiancé loves to cook but man oh man what a change up. I've been a patron of the Ozona Pig for over 25 years off and on and have to say, they never disappoint!!! I ordered the BBQ Beef Brisket Plate which was excellent!!! My daughter had the kids Chicken wings which also was excellent!! Definitely had to have the Southern Sweet tea to go with everything!!! We were seated immediately upon entry!! Our server, Britt was very efficient and friendly with everything we needed!! Our drinks were never empty and our food was delivered quickly!! Everything we had was full of flavor and generous portions!!! The entire restaurant has interesting decor throughout the place which is interesting to see from every seating area!!Definitely recommend checking them out!!! Took a ride to Palm harbor and decided to check this place out. Parking lot in the back so easy to find a spot. Got a Booth and the light that hangs down is bright and honestly annoying. Lighting at the bar looks perfect so if we come back would definitely sit there. Service was nice and friendly. Ordered a draft beer and it was flat. Was gonna send it back but I was so thirsty so decided to drink it and switched to bottle. Bottle beer was fine and cold. Neighbors got the ham and cheese and rubs. Both Happy with selection. I got the smoked wings. Blue cheese good. The wings were good but not much flavor or spices. The flats were juicy but the drums were dry. Also got an order of coleslaw. It was creamy and good but could have used some spices for flavor. Hubby got the beef brisket. I felt it was dry and again not much flavor. This place was soooo very good. We were recommended to go here and are so glad we came. First when you get there, parking is in the back and the lot is small. I'd definitely come at an off time as I can't imagine the dinner rush. It's a small little place, some outside seating so if it's not summer, you could probably sit out there and it'd be nice. I've heard it can be buggy so, bug spray? We sat inside anyway and it wasn't too crowded so we sat right away. Service wasn't the fastest but it wasn't bad either. We got a half order of onion rings to start and absolutely devoured them - they were SO good. Hot with just the right amount of batter. We should've gotten the whole order tbh but the half order would've worked for two people, not the six we had. Entree, I got a half rack of ribs with mac & cheese and corn on the cob. The mac was excellent! The corn was decent but lacked seasoning & butter. I doused my ribs in the sweet sauce they offer (there's three sauce choices on the table) and they were amazing. A good amount of bark & the half rack comes with six ribs so the portion size was perfect. It also comes with a little slice of garlic toast and omg I could've eaten ten of those. We were excited to try this place after reading all the good reviews. To our disappointment this place let us down in almost every way. The good parts were the staff was very nice, friendly and attentive. Also the portions were very well sized with a lot of meat. The not so good - the wait to be seated was extremely long and the food took over 40 minutes to come to the table after our order was placed. Those two issues wouldn't have even been brought up had the food been warm, fries not soggy and most importantly properly seasoned and had flavor. Every plate ordered lacked flavor in every way possible. BBQ should never be this bland IMO. Just got the truck washed and had not eaten anything today. Remembered passing this place and decided to give it a shot. Came in and there was a team of girls so it was quite loud. For my appetizer I got two tamales with everything. While I put that in I decided to go with the BBQ Plate half beef and pork. The tamales came and were deep fried with the chili, cheese, and jalapeños. It was not too spicy but still had a kick. Good choice to start off the meal. I must have been hungry because I totally forgot to take a picture. Oh well my bad. Placed my order and now the wait. While waiting I must say that my waitress was very nice and offered help on my selection. She brought out a fresh carrier of BBQ sauces that were still warm. Two were vinegar based and she warned me to not squirt them towards me as they come out fast. Here is my order and it looks good. The coleslaw was average. I added some pepper it was a little too creamy for my taste. The deviled eggs were good. Once again a little pepper helped. Going with the Some Like it Hot BBQ Sauce first. The meat was good. It was a tad dry but that is what the sauce was for. The baked beans were sweet and paired well with the BBQ. I found it best to mix the hot and original BBQ sauces. All in all it was a good meal. I'm a tough critic when it comes to bbq. Being from Georgia, I've had my share im my lifetime. I also feel that bbq is subjective and it's okay for everyone to have their own opinion of how it should be prepared. I stopped in on a weekday afternoon, restaurant was steady but not busy. Grabbed a seat at the bar and recognized that there were a lot of regulars that frequent this establishment. I went for the chopped barbecue sandwich sub Brunswick stew. I'm always going to give that a try when I see it on a menu. I was honestly very let down. Lacking flavor in the meat itself and all of the three sauces were not memorable. The stew was of nice consistency but too sweet for my liking. While the meat was tender, it was boring. Even with the addition of salt and trying all of the sauces. All in all, I don't see a reason to return. I hope this establishment does well, but it's not for me. read more

Another great experience at the Pig!!! I stuck with the Boss Hog Special because you get a bit of everything. Same sides, beans, green beans and coleslaw. I had the OG barbeque sauce and the Hot. One thing I noticed with this take out, on a crazy busy Saturday afternoon, the waitstaff is amazingly patient with challenging customers. One of the waitstaff, sorry I didn't get her name as this was a take out order, received a crazy request from a table and would have thrown anyone crazy, did the request with such a great smile and great attitude. I was looking forward to eating here on vacation. We saved it for our last night in town and our whole family of 8 got dressed up to enjoy the night out. We came in excited for some great bbq. We were told a 20 min wait and they were about to clear a corner table for us. We were encouraged to go next door to the brewery and enjoy a beverage while we waiting. 30 minutes and a very hungry 3 year old later, we went to check back in. We were bummed to discover the a "call ahead party" showed up and was given the table we were promised. To make things worst, two parties of six that came in after us were seated. When we asked for an update on how long we were told an hour. We asked if there was anything they could do to sit us sooner. The hostess said they could split us into two parties of 4 and out us in back to back booths. While this wasn't ideal, we were willing to compromise to sit quickly and agreed it. She told just 15 minutes to let another nearby table finish. 30 minutes later, I'm back in and there is two new parties in the booths that we were told would be for us. Frustrated, I asked why we kept getting pushed and I was told "I have to seat people when I can." I wish that rule applied to our party as well. The food might be good, but I can't say. After waiting an hour, we cancelled and the hostess simply said ok. We walked across the street to Molly's and enjoyed a wonderful meal with almost no wait to be seated. read more

Great lunch at Ozona Pig! So, after 15 years in NC, we're slightly picky about our bbq. They're real serious about bbq up there. My small giant of a husband and i split the boss hog platter. Enough food for dinner tomorrow.. Everything was really tasty. The platter has brisket, pulled shoulder, 4 ribs, 1/2 a chicken, beans and slaw, toast. There are several sauces to choose from. The only thing I ordered I didn't care for was the deviled eggs. I love deviled eggs. these had an odd flavor for myself. The beer was cold. We sat at the bar. Wow! I've lived in Memphis twice for a total of over eight years and love their barbecue. Well this place is right up there with The Germantown Commissary and Corkys, both in Memphis. This place won my heart. Finally came here after eyeballing it for years. Tucked away in little Ozona off the beaten path is this gem. You won't be disappointed! Great local place! Madison was our server and she was super friendly and attentive. Our drinks were never empty and her recommendation was on point. We got the full chicken nachos and asked for toppings on side as hubby and I like different tops. They make the bbq sauce in house and it's served warm which is great at keeping your food warm. The chips are also made fresh on site and are perfect. We also got hot and naked wings and which definitely had a little kick. We enjoy the beautiful outdoor seating which offers shade and fans on warm days. There were people who came with their puppy and the server brought out a fresh bowl of water. Service was great! Ladies that were serving treated everyone like family and were very sweet! I ordered Brunswick Stew and it was delicious! (I am a Brunswick Stew junkie). My Fiancé and our friend ordered the Cowboy burger and fries and said they were very good! Fries are truly homemade, just like everything else and I almost ordered a basket for myself after trying them. They have their own BBQ Sauces and it was very clean. They have indoor and outdoor picnic table seating with umbrellas for shade. They were very busy and it seemed like a local favorite from all of the servers greeting customers by name. The food is delicious, well done and you can tell it's family recipes passed down with strong southern roots. The interior is decorated with photos, pigs, markings of local children's heights as they have come in and grown up. A very homey, country ambiance. The service is excellent, all staff members are helpful, friendly and will joyfully chat to you with and take their time with you. Wow! My husband and I drove past this place a few weeks ago and thought it looked like a fun place, there were golf carts everywhere, live music, and it smelled amazing. We decided to head there for a date night this weekend and we were thoroughly impressed. Our server, Alliya, was so nice and attentive. The portions and prices are extremely fair- we got one soda, two waters, BBQ Ribs 1/2 Slab Dinner, The Cowboy burger, Mac n' Cheese, and of course banana pudding (which we found out that they sell out of this frequently!). Our total was just under $50 and we had leftovers for lunch the next day. I wish I would've taken a picture of the food but we devoured it. The ribs fell off the bone, I think I only put sauce on one of them and ate the rest plain, they were that good. I got garlic toast and potato salad as my sides, I would get the toast again but want to try the BBQ beans or green beans next instead of the potato salad. My husband is picky with burgers but loved The Cowboy! The fries were crispy and delicious. I've been thinking about banana pudding every day since we went. While the Ozona Pig didn't have live music on the night we went, the brewing place next door did and it was the perfect ambience, it felt like we were in a small town hallmark movie. Just left and couldn't wait to write this review. While they don't take reservations, they do allow call ahead. Which you should probably do if you don't feel like waiting too long, but if you don't mind waiting, they got a great bar, and plenty of seating out front to enjoy your group and drinks at. The ribs are so meaty, but what stood out for me was the steak sandwich, the captain. A 7 Oz filet that was cooked just as ordered and even in the car I'm thinking about how good it was. Dinner time felt like having some BBQ. As usual wifey and I are on the hunt for small businesses and this place is on the list. Parking is a little challenging and if you live nearby I'm sure you've been here but for those that are new to the area be careful as this area is a golf cart community so there are lots of golf carts driving around. Anyway, as you approach you can smell the smoker doing it's job. Depending what day it is I'm sure the crowd varies. We unfortunately decided to come on a Friday night and at the start of Spring break for the area. We decided to do take out. Not that the place is not a good place to eat at, we just didn't want to wait that long for inside seating and after a long day at work it was a little to loud for me or else I'd be okay with it (just wanted to chill). If that's something that doesn't bother than you'd be alright. They do have outside seating and that too was a long wait. It's a close knit community so everyone is friendly and seem to know one another (like the old show Cheers). As I sat here waiting for our togo order, I noticed their staff team is quick on their feet making sure their tables are good and have drinks, etc. We ordered the Boss Hog which is they say can be shared by two people. They lied!!! It's big enough for 3 maybe 4 people. It came with ribs, half a chicken, pulled pork, brisket, two deviled eggs, garlic bread, and two sides (we got baked beans and coleslaw). The ribs were cooked nicely and comes off the bone easily. The chicken was the same way. The pulled pork and brisket were not too dry. All items had a good Smokey flavor on them. The two sides we got was coleslaw which tasted delish. It had just the right amount of mayo in it. The baked beans was surprisingly good. At first I had it in my head like it's any other baked beans until I tasted it. It was sweet and savory I could probably eat that all day. We got two BBQ sauce a sweet one and their regular. We liked the sweet better. It was thick and stuck to the ribs. The regular was runny and tasted watered down. We ended up throwing it away. If i could describe it, it seems like they added water but didn't mix it. Similar to adding too much water in a ketchup bottle to get the a last few drops of ketchup, bland tasting. Overall, everything tasted good with the exception of the regular bbq sauce.
