I went yesterday, waited an hour and only to have my hair butchered. I have long hair, I asked straight cut (2 inches removed, THANK GOD I didn't ask for more) with a little bit of layers only in the front. He gave me very uneven layers that spread through the middle of my hair vs just the fron. When I mentioned it, He thought I was talking about my the two sides are different, but even if it's 2 sides...It should be even on each anyways as it is mirrored from one another. On both individually, I had very staggered layers, very very noticeable like I had cut it myself. Once I mentioned it, he proceeded to yank my hair. I am now having to cut my hair shorter to where he started layers. I think some women who works there can cut female hair, but this fella, hell fucking no. I should've stuck with straight no layers in the front. I'll never come back here, rather go to Chinatown, a bit further than waste 2 hours waiting and getting a cut. read more

Tried this place again but had very disappointing experience and I won't be back. My barber seemed to be in a really rotten mood from the get go and in a super rush and almost cut off my entire eyebrow. He was angry when explaining how much hair he was going to cut off and seemed genuinely bothered to be working. I just wanted to get out of there, but went through the haircut because I felt like I had no choice. What an unpleasant uncomfortable experience. As I was leaving, I opted to only tip $5 dollars- something I never do, (I tipped $20 last time). He demanded $10 which I gave because he made a scene.I explained exactly why I had only tipped $5. It felt like a mafia shakedown. This I my last time coming here. It's a very bad business. I'm convinced this place is a sort of sweatshop for unhappy barbers and hair- they've all given up. Never bothered writing reviews before but after one of the worst haircuts I ever received, this is definitely warranted. Hopefully, this would be of service to someone reading and spare them the misery.. Unfortunately I received the guy mentioned in numerous reviews here. He's nice but seems to be extremely inexperienced and has a lot of difficulty communicating with clients. I requested a classic combover haircut but he was unable to blend in the sides as you'd expect from a real barber. He hardly touched the razor and went ahead to butcher everything with the scissors. Immediate regret when he started to try to salvage the haircut. It felt as if I was given a shave by a child with shaky hands. However, the most bizarre thing was that we both knew it was a poorly done job but he still insisted on a tip being sent through Venmo. I would recommend booking an appointment in advance just in case! When I came in, there were only two barbers and already a few people waiting. However, one of the barbers helped me first since I had an appointment. I went on a Friday afternoon and there were two barbers working (one man and one woman). My hair was cut by the man and I would say he did a great job! When I came in, my hair was pretty long (around 20inches). He cut around 6 inches of my hair and also added some layering + shaped it a bit -- all in 20 minutes! I washed my hair beforehand to make it a bit easier for the barber to cut so it probably cut down on the time. It did seem like closer to the end, he was in a rush to finish since there were other customers waiting. I would t say this is the best haircut in the world but overall the haircut turned out pretty well, especially for $25. At other places, this would most likely be at least double the price. I've been here before and after COVID and both were wonderful experiences. I walked in for both visits but you can actually make online appointments now for safety measures; you can also check stylist time table online to make sure you get the stylist you prefer. I think it's important to understand that QB House is meant for quick cuts and not for complicated styles. I go to QB whenever I only need a simple trim and leave it to my usual salon for times when I have a specific style in mind. With that said, both of my visits exceeded my expectations. The hairdressers were detail oriented and polite; they understood my requests well and was very careful with the cut (during the second visit, my stylist even gave me a mirror to double check on the length I want to cut off at the back). I unfortunately did not get their names :(. The salon is clean with good sanitation measures even before COVID and there's a closet to store your personal belongings for every station; no more laying my bag on a floor full of hair! I definitely recommend QB to anyone who's looking for a fuss free quick trim. Please note that the price is now $23 instead of $20. read more

I've been to this particular location a few times now, and I guess I have been lucky in the past. A few days ago though, this all changed when I went in, and got my haircut from a lady named Aki. First off, the other two individuals who cut hair there seem to be fine. They are professional, and they work with you to make sure that you get the haircut you want. This for some reason isn't the case with Aki. She first buzz cut the side of my hair wayyyy too high and when I brought it up to her, she just looked at me and rolled my eyes and continued on. I tried to explain to her numerous times that I NEVER get the sides of my head buzzed that far and now my hair is ruined because of it. The only response I got from her? "I cut the side with a number 5 buzzer" ummm great? but I was telling her that she didn't ask me, and that I would have never wanted it cut that way. It just seemed like she didn't care and wanted to finish my haircut so she could move on to someone else. So... Now, if you're okay with your hair being ruined and the only response you get from the individual is her rolling her eyes at you, then please go here and ask for Aki. Otherwise, I would recommend that you get your hair cut from one of the other two individuals. read more

Best $20 I've ever spent! They are thorough and precise. I noticed the scissors and other tools of the trade are sanitized using special light that kills bacteria. Pretty awesome. They do not shampoo you (which is part of the reason it's only $20) so don't expect this. When my cut was done(finished in 20 min) they used this hose with a brush attachment which is connected to a vacuum in the wall to clean off and loose hairs around my neck and shoulders and on top of my head. As someone who is severely allergic to all the fragrances in a typical hair salon, I am so thankful this place exists. I usually go in for a trim, nothing too crazy. I needed a haircut, and I'm not the type to enjoy the barbershop experience. I mean, it's just not what I'm into. More power to those guys that can hang out at a barbershop. I was in and seated in 15 seconds as a walk-in, and the lady who cut my hair just wanted to know what I was looking for. Sadly I'm really tall, so she was straining to reach parts of my head and had to get on a step stool for some of it. She did a fantastic and VERY meticulous job. I don't think anyone who's ever cut my hair had as many switches between buzzer types and heads before. However, that turned the fabled 10-minute cut into around a 35-minute one. Being hourly, that kinda stung, and I was hoping for the 10-minute treatment so I could be out and back in 30 minutes. Time aside, my cut was fantastic and exactly what I was hoping for. I've made the mistake of going to a pricier place in a fancy zip code for my kid's haircut and I've SO learned my lesson. There is a stylist that seems to be mentioned here a lot, and not for the better. He seems to have trouble understanding what you want and will not ask for any clarification. He honestly messes up a lot of haircuts and the bad reviews seen here usually are the result of his work. I've tried to give him the benefit of the doubt three times and give him better instructions each time but he seems to not understand. I honestly don't think his skill level is on par with the rest of the stylists in the shop. He doesn't seem to know how to fade correctly (will just take a clipper and cut horizontally where he wants to blend, instead of using different clipper numbers and blending vertically). I have never written a yelp review, but my awful experience at QB House Downtown made me reconsider. They screwed up my hair on two separate occasions. They cut my hair too short when I specifically told them the length I wanted. The first time they screwed up, the woman cutting my hair was polite and apologized for the terrible haircut, and offered to give me a complimentary haircut the next time around. I always pay and tip my barber, so I insisted to pay her for her services, but to take her up on the complimentary haircut next time. A few weeks later, I came in first thing in the morning and the shop was CLOSED. I was confused because I have been the first customer on several occasions at 9am. An employee finally opened the store 10 min late after "opening time" of 9am. I then told him about my previous experience, and he told me that he would only cut my hair if I didn't complain. Apparently the woman who cut my hair the last time was their BEST stylist, and he was an apprentice who had been working there for only 3 months. My hair grows fast, and I really needed a haircut, so I let him cut my hair thinking what could go wrong for the second time. This haircut was far worse than the other experience. Hair patches all over my head and complete lack of attention to detail. Lastly, my hair was too short again. When I paid and offered the tip, he groaned at. I asked him if everything was okay, and he said that my tip was too little. I ended up tipping him $10 for a shitty $20 haircut...... Do not go here.
