I've gone back and forth over the years in the Chipotle versus Qdoba battles, but recently I've been swinging toward Qdoba. I'm assuming most other Americans have as well after Chipotles food safety issues and other challenges. One of the things that draws me to Qdoba is their willingness to try new things. The queso and chipotle sauces that they have added to the menu set them apart, and I personally add the chipotle sauce every time now. There new specialty tacos are interesting as well. We also recently signed up for their rewards program and have already cashed in for free stuff. Finally, I appreciate that our nearby shop has a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. We are still willing to hit Chipotle, but Qdoba has pulled ahead in my rankings. In general I just wish that all fast food restaurants would wipe down the tables more frequently! read more

It's fine. If I want Mexican food, do I go to Qdoba? Absolutely not. If I want fast food, I could do a lot worse than Qdoba. Their portions are decent, prices are fair, service is quick, and they get your order correct. But the taste and freshness leave something to be desired. They like to boast that they don't charge for guacamole (like Chipotle), but Chipotle's guacamole is so much better and you get more than a ping pong ball sized scoop. The holy trinity of a burrito bowl - the rice, meat and beans - need so many accompaniments to make them tasty as none of them seem to have much flavor or texture. Out shopping in the area and was really in the mood for Mexican food. Unfortunately this didn't satisfy the palate. It was noon'ish on a weekday, two people working. The primary person was nice but there was no hustle to the serving or checkout pace. It's a slow process, good news for patrons is that this place wasn't very busy. Food was bland and where there was some flavor, like the onions, the flavors didn't seem to be Mexican- sort of odd. Overall no taste or odd taste. I had a salad with carnitas and my husband had a quesadilla. The store lacks ambiance, no energy or vibe. Feels like we walked into a restaurant that might not really be in operation. read more

I love Qdoba more than Chipotle! Food tastes great, and they don't charge me for guacamole! This location is particularly awesome as the staff is always welcoming! It's a food chain restaurant so you expect the food to be aligned with other locations, but food here in Northborough location is no where close to good. You don't have to go to far to test my theory try Marlborough location and you will know what I am talking about. Service is poor, staff is awful and loud, some of them think it's ok to pass a smart a** remarks on customers. I ordered from this place for delivery at work during a night shift. Normally I steer away from a hefty serving of beans before working in a small room with other people for a prolonged period of time but I wanted something with more veggies than ketchup on fries and it's surprising I haven't turned Asian with all the fried rice and scallion pancakes I've been eating lately. Qdoba is less basic but also less well acquainted with e. coli outbreaks than Chipotle. I used to be a bitch for Qdoba whenever I would venture into NYC from the burbs during my childhood. I didn't even realize it hadn't gone out of business yet. Same essential premise as Chipotle. They have "impossible" burger meat instead of sofritas, so I threw that in a "salad" bowl. I also selected the option for "fajita peppers". I chose seasoned brown rice for the whole grains, you know. They have the option for really great sauces including guac, queso, pico de gallo, salsa ROJA, salsa verrrrrde (i'm saying this with an aggressively gringo-sounding spanish accent), FIERY HABANERO SALSA. Despite mexican caesar and picante ranch being on their website, the only thing I was offered was a lemon cilantro vinaigrette which was tasty. TWO GOOD THINGS ABOUT QDOBA that is missing at chipotle is the fact that they have COTIJA CHEESE! I don't even know what that is but it sounds Mexican and DELICIOUS. It's actually that white powder-y/chunky cheese they sprinkle on nachos sometimes (my frame of reference). The only GOOD THING is that, this probably isn't a common problem, but I'm extremely INDECISIVE in EVERY FACET OF MY LIFE, including BEANS. They always offer pinto beans OR black beans. What if I can't choose? I can see the benefits of both! QDOBA LET'S YOU GET A MIXTURE!!! Sigh. It was good but the lettuce had seen better days. That impossible meat is literally so mother fucking realistic I thought I was eating meat for a second. I might actually HAVE been eating meat. I did consider that possibility that they ran out of impossible and threw in regular ground beef. It's been like 20 years since I've had ground beef and wouldn't know the difference. The guac that I ordered on the side was a touch brown for my liking but I didn't get to it until a few hours after it came so that might be my fault. This was a decent option! This gets a one star because since there's no zero star option. I'm not sure what type of training employees receive before beginning to face clients, but there's absolutely no reason for an employee working this minimal labor position to be complaining to costumers about the difficulty of their job, let alone expressing their dissatisfaction with customers for ordering queso "out of order". read more

Good Location. The better one in this general area anyways. Always clean, never a huge wait (unless you go at lunch) and the staff seriously makes this place. They are SO NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually was in the worst mood coming in here last time and nothing helps a sourpuss more than a heaping pile of rice, beans and Mexican goodness for cheap. Seriously Mexican street food could end wars. But I was greeted with seriously the nicest service I turned that frown right upside down. That will keep me coming back regardless. I was a Chipotle guy for quite some time... And although I still fancy there from time to time, Qdoba has taken the #1 Burrito chain restaurant for me. The wide variety of entrees, sauces and meats overpowers Chipotle, Moe's or Boloco in my opinion. They recently rid themselves of my favorite sauce (BBQ) to make room for the new "Smothers" which I wasn't stoked about. However, the new sauces are definitely worth keeping me here. The Big 3 burrito chains are all fairly similar and I suppose they will all do in a pinch, but there are subtle differences. Pros: Unlike its competitors, Qdoba has free guacamole. They also have more menu items than Chipotle and lower prices. Cons: Qdoba's guacamole is bad. The food might(?) be higher quality than Moe's, but its lower than Chipotle and everything seems under-seasoned. The hot salsa isn't hot and the hot sauce options are as bad as Chipotle's (Tabasco and Cholula??? You can get much better hot sauces for less money). Also no free chips. Qdoba falls into a sort of mid-range death zone for me. I can't drown my cheap burrito in endless hot salsa, but it doesn't quite stand up on its own. I'd probably still eat at Qdoba if it was the only burrito joint around, but that is rarely the case. read more

I went to Qdoba for the first time with my family on Monday and had a great experience. The young lady behind the counter was very patient and cheerfully answered all of my questions. She made us feel welcomed and even did a great job of upselling. The food was tasty and my family and I enjoyed our meal as we sat outside and enjoyed the view. "Why only one star?" you may ask. Well, I decided to go back on Wednesday (within the same week) and had a totally different experience. No one was in line when I entered so I don't know why the young man was trying to rush me. Then, oddly, he stops in the middle of taking my order and calls a young lady who comes out from the back. He tells her to "finish this up." So now, I have to repeat my order to her. He then walks to the back to restock supplies and returns when he sees his buddy in line. They disuss old times. The young lady that was "finishing this (meaning my order) up" accidently added a topping so I asked that it be redone. She asks the guy to redo it and I guess he was annoyed and re-did the dish but with far less food in the container. The food was cold and hard and not at all like it was on Monday. Maybe they served left overs from the day before--I don't know for sure. The meat was dry and hard. It didn't help that my food was being thrown together by the guy, which reminded me of being in the school cafeteria when the food was "slopped" onto the tray and the cafeteria lady screamed "NEXT!" I felt like I was being punished by the annoyed employees for just walking in the door. I was trying to support a local business and this is the thanks I get? I don't know how long this place is going to last. If they keep this up, Chipotle is going to see an increase in business all thanks to the Qdoba employees. Chipotle has consistently delivered great food and made me feel like my business was appreciated. "Consistency" that's what Qdoba needs. read more

The food was not stellar, but not horrible. The roasted veggie burrito (chose white rice, added black beans) was little dry, and a little bland for my taste buds. Hubbie liked the soup he ordered but said his chicken tacos were dry and unimpressive. Service was a little weak - the food was prepared quickly but the employee working the register walked away halfway through ringing us out, which left us standing there for several minutes, food in hand but unable to sit down and eat. Came here after an awful experience at the Chipotle down the road and Qdoba exceeded my expectations. I had only been to a Qdoba once many years ago and had forgotten how much better they are. The food quality was great, the customer service was superior, and the overall experience was exceptional. This branch decorated for Halloween too, making it feel more friendly, fun, and welcoming. The employees cleaned the tables right after customers left, making it feel very covid-conscious and sanitary. I will definitely be eating at Qdoba from here on out, not just because Chipotle has failed me time and time again, but because of this wonderful experience. read more

I visited here today. Very bad experience. There were 3 ladies on the line. The older lady and the young lady were very rude. No one greeted when I entered the store. Weirdly, the customer in front of me and behind me were treated fine. Makes me wonder if it was racial discrimination? Anyway, moving on and concentrating only on the service part - I ordered a gumbo togo, I asked the first lady on the line if it was possible to get the soup on the side. She graciously agreed. I thanked her. Then moving to the next person, the older lady from the 3, added the toppings that I wanted, and asked about what I wanted in the soup. I told her it was only a part of the gumbo, and that I just wanted it on the side so that it doesn't get soggy by the time I get back home. She gave me a disgusted look and asked the first lady who confirmed. Then I moved on to checkout. the younger lady. The older lady said the order out aloud to her - gumbo with soup on the side. Then she shrugged her shoulders, rolled her eyes, said "I don't know". The girl at the checkout wouldn't even look at me. No eye contact even once. She packed my order, ran my card, and moved on to the next customer, and while talking to the next customer handed me my credit card back. Very rude! I have in general liked QDoba food. But with this kind of service, I do not plan on going back again. Wouldn't recommend my friends on going here either. read more

My colleagues and I visit this place at least once a week and have always had a good experience. The staff that works here is super friendly and always greets us with a smile. The food is really good, especially the mexican gumbo. I've been to many Qdobas and always enjoyed their food so when I moved to Northborough I was happy to see a Qdoba in town. I've been here a few times and was disappointed each time. The first time the chicken tasted old and my quesadilla was watery. The second time I ordered a borito bowl and it didn't taste fresh. Both times I went the restaurant was empty and the employees seemed like they didn't want to be there. The worst part was the guy was sweeping the floor and then stopped to make my food. Looking for a quick bite without calling a financial advisor, I happened to be close to and therefore stopped at Qdoba. Ordering a chicken soft taco with all the fixings, I was hoping for enough cooked onions & red peppers to really taste, but there was less than a bit left in the bin. Oh well, The chicken was perfectly shaped cubes that were reminiscent of bullion cubes and like the cooked onion & peppers, not enough to taste (would I have being so bland -even with a few ounces?). As I approached the cashier, I asked for a large cup for tap water and was told I would have to be charged for a beverage in order to get a cup larger than an oversized thimble. Unsure why there was a perpetual queue of patrons during the whole time we were eating, but my suggestion for others is; Qdon't bother. read more

This was a horrible idea, what a disappointment!!! This was my first time and last time at a Qdoba. I can honestly say I don't know what type of experience management was hoping to provide but I just left hungry and angry. I had three tacos (half full, about a half oz of meat and I had to choose between tomatoes or salsa) girlfriend had what could only be described as a rice wrap (burito)...two small drinks...just under 20 dollars, I was so angry I wanted to toss it and leave.
