The employees work hard to keep the line moving quickly during peak times, but at what expense? They use the same hand (gloved) to grab multiple ingredients. Lots of opportunity for cross contamination. My biggest gripe, however, it that the food just doesn't taste very good, starting with the rice as a base. Despite how many other options you put on that rice, the only thing with decent flavor and texture was the carnitas. And it was challenging to find the meat amongst all the filler ingredients. The chipotle ranch had no discernible chipotle flavor, the pickled red onions were soggy and lacked any pickled punch, the cilantro wasn't fresh. On the bright side, the staff seemed eager to help and the chips were crispy. But I would opt for other local burrito chains over Moe's unless they improve their ingredients. read more

Today we chose Moe's over competitors because it was able to be delivered. The delivery fee was reasonable, but then there were also convenience fees and service fees that were described to be essential to maintaining restaurant quality as well as the website and app. The fees reached over $10 as they were taken as a percentage of our order, and this did not even include any tip for the driver. Why is it our responsibility to pay for the company's website? Especially when it only applies to delivery orders? I don't understand this and think it is entirely unreasonable and unprofessional. In addition, the food was not acceptable. We ordered 5 items (3 Burritos, 2 Stacks) and each one had things missing- for example, none of them had cheese. The rice was crunchy, the corn salsa had greying corn kernels that tasted like they came out of a can, and the black beans were a strange, gross texture. It was honestly not a good experience at all. The food was so unsettling that we stopped eating halfway through our meals and still felt sick afterwards. This is not the reputation Moe's has, so this was unexpected, and needless to say, ruined dinner. Thanks for your time. read more

Every table was filthy and not cleaned even with nobody in the store. This is my second time seeing this place in that condition. All the employees we set up at the dining tables backpacks, papers everywhere. Floors have puddles of some sort of liquid and are very greasy. No music and all you can hear are the employees taking loudly back and forth. With the cleanliness of the dining room you can only imagine what's taking place in the kitchen. This is probably the only Moes within a close proximity of my house. I loved this chain growing up and I feel that they've lost their way. I order my old standby the close talker with steak. The steak looked like it had been boiled almost. It didn't have that sear that you'd get at chipotle or qdoba. I also realized after the fact that they didn't give me the crispy shell bowl that comes on the outside. The chips were delicious as was the salsa. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his beef burrito. The restaurant itself is quite big but needs to be kept up with. The cleanliness of the dining area isn't there. At the area where they prepare your food it's seemed as they are rushed and a little sloppy. I noticed multiple topping overlapping into its neighboring bin, I.e. guacamole in the sour cream or olives in the tomatoes. read more

Horrible. Went in for a late lunch around 2pm. First time at Moe's & main entrance is not in an easy place to see (depends where you park). They had the sliding doors open because come to find out it was a sauna in there. I entered at the sliding door & once I entered an employee gave me a disgusting look & slammed door behind me. I went to order & told the miserable lady it was my first time at Moe's & expected a welcome from her. I got my chicken bowl & it was nothing great. It reminded me of Subway how stingy they were with toppings & if you say more/extra they will charge you for it without telling you at checkout. The inside was soo hot & I heard other patrons complaining about it. I ate my bowl quickly (with 2 annoying flies) & when I left went out the slider which they reopened as I ate. The Employee slammed it again as I left with aggression. I'm going to give Chipotle a try next time. read more

While the food quality is not as good as Chipotle, it's also cheaper and you get free chips and salsa. The chips aren't good, but the salsa can be. You can also get a burrito with guac for less than $10. Moe's makes up for the lower quality ingredients by having more options. I guess I would say Chipotle is better, but I tend to alternate between the two since both are close to the office. I don't think Moe's quite deserves 3 stars, but definitely more than 2. read more

There are three of what I would consider "fresh mex" style restaurants in our area, and Moe's to me is a distant third among them. I had tried Moe's once a few years ago and wasn't a fan, but agreed that it was time to give them another shot. First, a few of the highs: 1) I liked the fact that they served their burrito with a side of tortilla chips and a fresh salsa bar 2) Their freestyle Coke machine was either better stocked than others we see or was having a good day 3) They do offer some different options in terms of sizes The list for what I didn't like is much longer: 1) Thanks for the salsa bar, but you don't have any of those behind the counter to put in the burrito as you're making it? Fail 2) Yes, the kids asked for queso on their burritos, but they didn't ask for a queso burrito. Easy on the cheese sauce! 3) The main sized burrito is much smaller than Qdoba or Chipotle 4) The burrito didn't seem to have a great deal of taste 5) They were out of some/most of the sauces for the smothered burritos they were offering 6) Staffing seemed very light for the lunch rush; not sure if someone called in or if they just didn't staff accordingly 7) Not that this is their fault, but turning left out of the lot to get to route 9 is almost Mission Impossible At the end of the day, this restaurant may not be overly well managed. However, having tried another Moe's previously and stayed away for a few years, I don't think it is just this restaurant. Overall, I think it was a good idea to try Moe's again, but I'd opt for Chipotle in the midst of an e coli scare before I'll be back to Moe's. read more

Gave the Moes in Westborough a shot and to tell you the truth, the visit pushed me in the direction of Chipotle for good. Homewrecker I got was below average of ones I've gotten in the past. The deciding factor was the staff though. This place hasn't been open for long and already the staff is miserable. Yo I truly don't understand the negative reviews I find on SOME chain restaurants. Lets go into this with the right mindset. Its a CHAIN, just that alone allows a restaurant almost no independent reach to redirect the issues caused by it Being a CHAIN. The HQ is somewhere else and the menus, prices, rules and standards are set elsewhere, not by the management of the individual location. That shouldn't be a cop out for bad service, dirty conditions or no sanitary practices. But their limitations should be recognized. They do the best with what they have! I've been coming to this Moes on and off for about 2+ years and I can safely say its a positive experience 99% of the time. I always order ahead to avoid waiting and most of the time its full proof. Anyone that works in this area should take heed and do so... they don't mess up and though I've had some extras forgotten and not put in the bag - I'm sure its because I ordered during the busiest of times for lunch during the week, not because of repetitive negligence. Anyhow its been a long while since any of that has happened. In fact I recently got to craving moes like every other day again and placed another order online. When I arrived to get it, I was greeted by the manager with "How ya doing,?! Where ya been hun?!" Other staff attitude to match, being super sweet and seemed happy to see a return customer. I gotta ask 2 questions. .. What the hell is wrong with that? and Where else do you find this in a chain restaurant? .. No place else really and thats what makes chain places stand out individually. They may have had a rocky start with the new management but cmon it takes us all a while to get our bearings straight. I have completely given up on this location. Complete and utter garbage to say the least. The last 2 times I've been at this location there has been one person working and I'm not even sure I can say that he's technically working. Salsa bar is always empty and when you take salsa as serious as I do that's a big issue. As soon as my order was finished and paid, the associate went directly outside to smoke a cigarette and threw his hands down his pants to keep warm (aka in his underwear). Don't bother ordering online. We ordered burritos and customized each one online. Instead of labeling them with our names (which we specified online) they numbered the burritos. We had no idea whose was whose. Upon further inspection all the burritos were made exactly the same! They didn't even bother to read the order! Moe's is not cheap like Taco Bell so we expected better service. read more

I've been going to this Moe's location for a while, but my patience has worn thin. I consider the food comparable to Chipotle - fresh, good variety (actually better because they have a ground beef option). I like the decor of the dining area here. I hate the decor and atmosphere at Chipotle. I like the clever Seinfeld-focused menu. So, what's the problem? THE STAFF!!! I've never seen anyone who even remotely resembles a manager. The "welcome to Moe's" greeting is well-intentioned, but invariably the tone of the staff implies "Oh crap, another customer". The store supposedly closes at 9:30 but the staff shuts down around 8:00. To them, 9:30 is the target to get the hell out of there. Tonight at 7:45, they were out of ground beef. I know that means they don't feel like prepping more because, after all, they"re outta there in an hour and a half. Previously we've seen kitchen clean up starting at about 8:00 while most of the empty tables are left dirty. This store is normally entirely staffed by teens and early 20-somethings and, man, are they miserable! So, even though I hate the cold, noisy, steely confines of my local Chipotle's, it's better than a cold, steely-eyed staff, so I've had my last Art Vandalay. read more

When Moes first opened it was good. The service was great. Food was good too with my favorite fajitas and their pineapple salad on the salsa bar was worth the trip alone. Both of these items are now off the menu. My last visit was just horrible. The service consisted of a sullen server that barely grunted his responses. Add on items were sparse and seemed to be leftover from lunch and not replenished. I got queso as a side and it was cold. The other server wore his pants so low his entire backside which was covered by not so clean boxer underwear was on full display. Not appropriate for a restaurant server. This same server/cook stood over the grill cooking with a cell phone to one ear. The food at this location was bland and tasted old. Major changes have to be made here before I would venture back or recommend to others. read more

I see a lot of negative reviews, but I gotta say I think this place is great. I love how you can customize your order so you get exactly what you want. Guacamole is always fresh, everything at the bar always looks great. The fountain drink machine where you can create your own soda out of tons of options is really fun. Came in today and had a great experience, my son is Autistic and often orders a little.....differently (no eye contact) but the young woman behind the counter just treated him like anyone else, continued to ask him questions just like all of the other customers and my son left here saying "Mom, this is an awesome place!" read more

A very sad little restaurant. As we drove in, we saw litter all over the parking lot, which was a precursor to what was waiting for us inside. There were very few people inside when we arrived. We ordered our food and that was fine. But when we went to sit down we were greeted by filth. Most of the tables were digusting, leaving us with no clean place to sit, and when we asked for them to clean off some tables, they told us they just finished a rush, at 430 in the afternoon! It took us about a half hour to eat and didn't see anyone come in until just before leaving. This should have been ample time to empty the trash barrels which were overflowing or clean the floor which was dirty and had some trash to be picked up. They did neither of these things. We will definitely not be returning. The extra five minute drive down route 9 to the Shrewsbury restaurant will be worth it. read more
