Knew this place was doomed. We gave them multiple trues but always had to send bad food back. One time we got taco salads with brown lettuce and day old guac...you know, that oxidized stuff. Bleh. We really wanted to like this Margaritas.. the hostess was very nice and sat us quickly. She asked us if we wanted to sit in the bar area or the quieter tables area. We chose a table and soon realized that it was horrendously loud. Sort of because of a large party nearby, but mostly because the acoustics are awful and amplify everything. We decided to endure though since we were seated and eating chips and salsa by then. The food.. aims for adequacy. My partner got a pork special that was described as extra juicy and flavorful and it was bland and dry. I got tacos and they were ok at best, also bland. We got a free guacamole for signing up in the app and it never came. I reminded the waitress and she ran off to get it.. and never returned. We saw her serving others though.. strange. We flagged down another waitress and explained and she offered us a replacement but of course by then we were headed out and not planning on returning. No offer to take money off.. The whole experience was just blah. There are really good Mexican restaurants in the area with equal or better pricing and vastly superior food. read more

We came to Margaritas after coming here for years and it has decreased exponentially. We were greeted at the door by a women who gave us menus and said "seat yourself"- all tables were full of food except for one, and we sat for 10 minutes before being acknowledged. After we were finally seen, I politely asked if we could get a napkin to wipe the table- the server disappeared for 20 minutes. Another server approached and said I'll take you, than our original server appeared and wiped the table and got our drinks which too another 15 minutes. Furthermore, our food came out and my chimichanga was covered in velveta cheese, and the other guest had fish tacos that were inedible, not to mention all of our silverware was dirty, we got no refill on drinks, and in total spent 1 1/2 hours for 10 minutes of eating. We went here to celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Sunday, but we're disappointed. There was no celebration going on. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was OK. Not bad for a chain! Artsy, funky atmosphere. They actually have some really cool art. Decent margaritas. Service with a smile. The chips are homemade, I think. The salsa is mediocre at best - watery, not much flavor. I had a chicken chimichanga (very good! but a little small...) with rice (not the authentic kind) and refried beans (decent). We ordered two Coronoritas to start and they can out with an inch off the top since the waitress sloshed around as she brought them to us. We ordered the burrito and the taco salad. I think it took longer for our drinks to be made then our food to cook. I think it was less than three minutes to receive our order. The taco salad was good, not great. My husbands burrito was del ious he says, however I can't understand the reasoning in giving an adult man French fries. Our highlight of the meal happened when a Spanish version of bohemian rhapsody came on and I nearly spit out my drink. As I wiped the margarita from my chin, I turned to see Return of the Jedi on tv. InterestAll in all, I think this place deserves the three stars it currently has. Update: We came to give Margaritas another go and I'm glad that we did. Unimpressed!!! The place is clean and feels new and has lots of space. That's about it. The Chips and salsa were free however the salsa was way too bland and had no taste. Just crushed Campari and Heirloom tomato mix might taste better. The server had no idea what a michelada is. WHaaatttt??????? The restaurant's name has mexico in it. That let the alarm inside of me go off. She did finally get me a drink from the bar claiming it to be michelada however it felt like beer watered down along with some version of sriracha sauce. The Guac was again another let down. Felt like the chef had no idea what he had to do with an avocado. No salt/citrus/cilantro. By then i had lost all hope on the actual food. At least they were consistent enough to not shatter my expectation of another blah food by dishing out something I seriously do not remember. I guess that says enough for one to judge. read more

I was FAR from impressed with this location. We came in 2/12/21 at 8:30 and were seated at a booth in the dining room that was just cleaned (everything was still wet when we sat down), and were greeted by our server. She was polite but DAMN she was slow! There weren't many people in the restaurant and there were other servers at the time so it's not like she was taking care of the whole restaurant by herself. We waited for literally EVERY LITTLE THING. Sour cream? 10 min wait. Another margarita? 10 more. Beer? 15 mins later she comes back to the table WITHOUT it (forgot). Napkins and silverware weren't given until 5 mins after appetizers came out. We also ordered shots that finally came out 15 mins after we ordered them and they were super small and would barely fill a standard sized shot glass (yet they pour them in rocks glasses). My fiancé nearly CUT himself because she gave him a glass that was chipped. I let her know. She said "thanks for telling me". As far as the music goes? I'm pretty sure corporate would be pissed to know they were playing metal instead of the standard Spanish music. I actually love metal, so I was excited, but I'm pretty sure the customers didn't want to hear bands like Too Close to Call or The Ghost Inside, lol. Outstanding! What a pleasant surprise last night. The atmosphere and drinks were top notch with dozens of tequila choices and a smiling knowledgeable bartender. Our first time at Margaritas and won't be our last. First thing we noticed was the grand entrance and spacious bar area. The decor was tastefully done with a mix of Tex-Mex and Mexican colors. The bar is configured to seat many quests and has several big screen TVs to watch your favorite game. Our waitperson/bartender Ashley was very friendly, professional and attentive. We ordered Naked Jalapeño Margaritas and Nachos Cowabunga. We asked for a slight change to the nacho order (Carnitas instead of chicken or beef, and add Jalapeños). Ashley quickly responded "Absolutely", which was a pleasant response as apposed to "Let me check with the kitchen", a response we usually get at other nearby restaurants. The Margaritas were spicy and delicious. The nachos were loaded with cheese, diced onion, beans, in addition to jalapeño and Carnitas. Along with a side of guacamole and sour cream, there was enough for two or three people to make it a meal. Depending on what you order, prices can vary from reasonable to a bit costly. Very convenient location and plenty of parking. We were seated immediately and waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Chips were crisp, and fresh and the salsa had just enough bite. I had Tito's combination which featured a chicken burrito which was loaded with tender chunks of chicken. The rice was dry and stale, refried beans were loose and sloppy. All was smothered in cheese, hiding most of the combo beneath. Overall flavors were lost in the smothering for a rather flavorless experience. The Shrewsbury/Northboro/Westborough area has had quite an influx of restaurants over the past 5 years. Unfortunately none of them are good, instead mostly being souless semi-corporate restaurants which deliver overpriced and very underwhelming food. Maybe because this area is a suburban haven for well-off families, it is just expected that corporate hotel-lobby style restaurants where you can get bland assembly line food are the thing. Come on ... we can do better. The atmosphere here is not terrible. It feels like a Mexican style Applebee's. Given there is an Applebee's right next door, that's a bad sign that you are going to find decent dining. The patio area is nice in the warmer weather despite the fact parents let their kids run around screaming here and climbing on the furniture with no respect to other diners as it was an outdoor playground. Not the restaurants fault but the next table over parents sipped Margaritas while their kids ran laps around the other diners and climbed on the fence right next to my table. The thing I do blame the restaurant for is the food. Unseasoned, bland, overcooked and made with no care whatsoever from the line. Seriously, the black beans and rice was clearly so dried out and covered with clumped rehydrated powdered seasoning that it looks like a 4 year old made it. Shame on the staff for sending this out. It looked like it had been made and re-microwaved several times. The fajita was made with a disgusting chewy steak ... I will steal Rodney Dangerfield's line that it probably still had marks where the jockey was hitting it. Called 'sirloin' on the menu, this seriously looked and chewed like what I would cut off a good steak at a proper restaurant. It has zero ... none ... seasoning and was basically chewy rubber cooked to well done. Margaritas were described as 'would famous' as were the $17.50 fajitas. What came was a bland drink that tasted of zero alcohol. After two, there was not even a slight buzz and that cost $20. A world famous margarita would not be made with bottled mix. Lime juice, Cointreau and tequilla is a rather simple concept to anyone with a $4 hand held juice press. The theme of this place is corporate profit, not diner experience. Appetizers are $10, meals are $20 and drinks $8 - $12. You could do SO much better for the price elsewhere. Right down to the terrible music, which was an annoying mix of 90s grunge rock and Mexican cover versions of 90s songs played way too loudly ... This restaurant just felt like something you'd see in a Courtyard by Marriott lobby. The laughably appetizing menu descriptions are the only non-corporate feeling thing here as they use incredibly tacky Mexican stereotypes and offensive words such as Gringo. I'm no snowflake who gets easily offended, I just found it head shakingly funny. Overall, if you have no idea what good Mexican food tastes like, by all means come here. If you enjoy restaurants like Red Lobster, Applebee's, TGIFridays or Olive Garden you'll love this place and it's a great night out. If you want something that was made with care, tastes good and was sourced from a non-warehouse food broker on the cheap ... Go elsewhere. Sadly, I find myself writing more bad reviews lately ... Something I hate doing. But if you are going to part me with $70 for dinner for two and I get this type of food ... I'm going to let others know about it. Id rather have cooked at home. This joins Tavern In the Square, Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza and Simple Greek as some great sounding restaurants that are actually just corporate dumps. They'd do just as well letting the accountants who monitor the cost per diner and make sure to maximize every profit by cutting down quality actually cook in the kitchen because there are no chefs here. read more

We are new to the area and have been looking for good Mexican. We tried very hard to like it but nothing was good. The margarita flight was very syrupy. I couldn't drink most of it. The salsa had a significant bite but no other flavor. The guacamole had no flavor at all - made us wonder if it was real avocado or a substitute given all the avocado issues. The chips were lackluster and almost seemed stale. My husband's entree was better than mine - even his rice was more moist. He got the Famous Taster. It was ok. I got the steak fajitas. The rice was very dry. The menu said the steak was cooked medium rare. Mine was burnt and tasted burnt. Not really edible although I was hungry enough to smother a couple of pieces in a tortilla with a lot of onion & pepper & sour cream. The waiter was friendly but for a restaurant that was far from busy and with several waiters around, he disappeared for long periods of time. We asked for salt for our guacamole and it finally came when we had given up on the guacamole and mixed it with their salsa for some flavor. My husband can't have sugar and ordered an unsweetened tea. It came sweet and the waiter just said that it really was unsweetened and that just how their unsweetened tea tasted. Later he said that the buttons crossed between the sweet and unsweetened tea and shrugged his shoulders. He didn't seem bothered by the fact that my husband just had sugar when he wasn't supposed to - people with allergies beware. When he did come check on us, I admit that I didn't give him/the restaurant a chance to correct. Honestly, I was so done and just wanted to leave and didn't want to have to wait for another meal. So that is on me. I know I should've but just getting the waiter in the room so we could then get his attention seemed like a bridge too far. When we got the check, it had that I requested medium well steak. Never happened. I like my steak medium rare which is why when the menu said it came medium rare I ordered it instead of my usual chicken. I would never ask for steak medium well. On 2/4/2023 we made reservations for a group of 35 people. The staff did an amazing job. It started with a pleasant and accommodating women we made the reservations with. Then there was a warm welcome and the staff let us rearrange the tables so we could better talk to everyone. "Seth" was a mediocre server, didn't split our tabs, and got mad at the tip and demanded more, when everybody sent in their order money + about 20% each on Venmo to our buddy who had to pay the whole tab since they didn't split it up for us. A tip is earned not mandatory. And to call a customer out on their tip and guilt tripping them into tipping double is just bad. Just not a good look. She/he was like "wow really that's all you're gonna tip it's been a long day was i really that bad?" Also told us we needed to calm down when we weren't even that loud or obnoxious or anything and it was our friends birthday we were trying to have a good time. No Bueno I'd really love to like this place. I mean, I love margaritas and I love Mexican food. So what's not to love.....? Walking in you'd expect to feel a little piece of Mexico or at least something like being in Mexico..... Other than the some what Mexican tiled flooring and a random Mexican mask you wouldn't be able to tell it was in fact a Mexican restaurant. Other than the fact you get free chips and salsa when you sit down. This "margaritas" is actually very new. You would think the place would feel clean and fresh and nice. At first glance the bathroom floor is pretty gross and dirty and the menus (every menu I grabbed at the bar) was sticky. Disgusting! I mean is it that hard to wipe down a plastic menu at the end of the day?! Needless to say my meal was tasteless. I ordered hectors Quesadilla with chicken. No taste. Nothing. No seasoning. Just absolutely no taste. Bland and blah. I ate one little piece and gave the rest away. My husband got the fish tacos. Unfortunately he had the same experience. Tasteless and it was fried fish when he asked for it not to be. The only thing good today were the free chips and salsa. The salsa was good. My wine was good. My husbands "fresh" margarita tasted fake and like plastic. Bonus is only that the windows in main dining area open up completely so you have an outside feel. Margaritas Mexican Restaurant will open to the public on August 23 at the main entrance to Northborough Crossing, located next door to an Applebee's under construction and across fron Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza. Margarita's has been training the staff at this new restaurant and bar and the layout here is really fresh and modern. As a Circle of Friends member (Margaritas loyalty program), they sent out an email last week to members inviting them for complementary dinner (appetizer, entree, & dessert) at the Northborough Margaritas, so the staff could train in a busy dining environment. I decided to take them up on their offer and made a reservation for myself for dinner. I drove over 60 miles each way to this Margaritas for dinner, even though I already have two Margaritas locations within 15 minutes from my home. Upon entering, the place has the main dining room to the right and the bar/lounge area to the left. There is also a sunroom dining area with big glass windows in front which also can be opened for open air dining, great on warm sunny days, sort of a similar concept (garage doors) as Brick House Tavern + Tap. The decor here is very colorful and festive including several hand painted ceramics figures and sculptures. The bar area has several flat screen TVs and a variety of adult contemporary music was blasting from the speakers (it was a bit loud). I arrived here just before 5:30 PM for dinner and the place was moderately busy with other Circle of Friends members here. I took a seat at the bar after checking in and the bartender was prompt in offering a drink and menu to look at. I ordered a Diet Pepsi ($2.49 with free refills). Complementary chips & salsa were also brought out to me. The food and drink menus are the typical/same menu offerings and prices as most of the other Margaritas locations. This location is also open for lunch everyday too. For an appetizer, the baked Nachos Cowabunga ($10.99) with grilled chicken over refried beans, cheese, lettuce and salsa over warm crispy tortilla chips with guacamole and sour cream in a small tortilla shell on the side. These nachos were very filling to eat. For dinner, the Steak & Shrimp Combo Fajitas ($17.29) served with rice & beans. The entree arrived on a sizzling hot plate with tender grilled steak, 4 large shrimp in a spicy sauce with green peppers & onions, rice, & a mound of refried beans with cheese. Fixins' diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, & 4 soft tortillas on the side. For dessert, the Fried Ice Cream ($6.49) with chocolate sauce & honey, whipped cream & cherry on top is still my favorite dessert at Margaritas, which had hard vanilla ice cream coated with crushed pretzel (sweet & salty flavor). The food I had was pretty good, as expected at a Margaritas. The service at the bar was good. The bartenders kept my Diet Pepsi refilled and the food came out in timely order on a busy evening. The manager and director of operations stopped by to check on customers. However, the service felt rushed and one bartender wanted to clear away my nachos while I was still eating dinner. I kept telling her I was working out it. The other bartender eventually offered me a to-go container for the nachos and after I finished the fajitas, a runner came by and promptly took some of the used dishes. Next, the bartender cleared everything and rushed to cash me out. However, I asked what about dessert and I think the servers (at most restaurants) are supposed to be trained to ask the customer(s) if they are interested in dessert? The food portion of the check was comped (-$34.97 plus tax), so the Diet Pepsi ($2.62 with tax) was only thing I had to pay for, plus I left a tip based on the original value of the check. They took my credit card at the beginning of the meal to start a tab, which is standard at the bar. After paying cash for the check, I had to ask for my credit card back before I left. My buddy in NH goes to bars a lot, which start tabs on his credit card, but sometimes to bartender would forget to give him his credit card back and he'd forget about it until he needed it again and have to make a special trip to the bar. In all, this Margaritas location should do well and makes good business sense in a high traffic area, since the next closest Margaritas locations are several miles away west and east of here in Worcester and Framingham. read more

Margaritas on Northborough was amazing. Went there 2 times. Excellent service. The second time we went my grandson was very sensitive to the volume of the music. My daughter asked if due to his sensory needs can the music be lowered. Immediately they were very accommodating to his needs. Not only did they lowered the music they also lowered the lighting.
