My bf sister (17) and I were quoted $300 and $280 for our services, but upon arrival, the prices were raised to $320 each, with an unclear explanation from the manager. Despite this, I trusted them with a larger service involving a haircut and balayage. I explained my desired cut to both the manager and stylist Kevin, emphasizing layers and a shorter front. Unfortunately, the haircut I received was uneven, slanted, and not what I asked for. When I pointed out the issues, Kevin initially asked me to wait until he finished eating before making adjustments. Even after "fixing" it, the haircut was still slanted and shorter than I wanted. To make matters worse, I felt uncomfortable and disrespected during checkout. I tipped $10 despite my dissatisfaction, only to overhear the stylist complaining to the manager in another language about the tip amount while I was standing right there. The manager then attempted to shame me by comparing my tip to someone else's $80 tip and lecturing me about tipping etiquette, which I found highly inappropriate. On May 6, 2026, I had my hair done at InHair Salon and purchased a $500 prepaid package because the salon was running a promotion that offered an additional $100 credit with a $500 deposit. Less than one month later, the salon suddenly shut down. As of today, I have not received a refund for my remaining prepaid balance. Former employees of the salon contacted me afterward and complained that the owners closed the business very abruptly without providing refunds to customers. I was also told that some customers tried to track down the owners to recover their money. I repeatedly attempted to contact the owners, Linda and Jacky Chen. My phone calls were not answered, and my messages were not returned. Eventually, I was able to reach Linda through WeChat. She told me that the salon had closed because of health issues and that all InHair Salon customers and prepaid hair-treatment products had been transferred to Jie Hairsalon. According to what I was told, the two salons arranged this transfer without obtaining customers' consent. Customers who wished to use their existing prepaid balances were required to continue receiving services at Jie Hairsalon, and only a portion of their previous balance could be applied toward each visit, with additional spending required at the new salon. I repeatedly requested either a refund or a proper resolution regarding my remaining prepaid funds. However, I do not know Jie Hairsalon, did not choose to become their customer, and do not wish to be forced into spending money there. To date, I have still not received a refund. Throughout this process, both parties have repeatedly referred me to the other side and denied responsibility for resolving the issue. I am sharing my experience to encourage consumers to exercise caution before purchasing prepaid packages or providing personal information such as their name and phone number. Please keep all receipts, payment records, screenshots, chat logs, and other evidence in case you need to protect your rights. If other consumers have experienced similar issues involving InHair Salon or Jie Hairsalon, I would appreciate hearing from you. I plan to file a case in court, and I welcome other affected customers to come forward and share their experiences. For me, this is not simply about $500. Today I decided to try the head spa which they advertise in the front for $39 and also get my usual cut (straight, no layers, nothing fancy). It's a Monday around 1:30pm and it was empty so they took me in right away with no appointment. They said to do the spa first so I followed them to the basement which was a little sketch but I looked past it. There was a room with curtains and a bed with a sink which is where the service took place. This is definitely no frills and can use a good scrub down and some cleaner sheets and towels. However, the lady who performed the service knew what she was doing and did a great job. She washed and conditioned my hair, gave scalp, neck, shoulder, arms, legs massages. I really enjoyed the experience but the lack of cleanliness took off a star. Next was the haircut. I already got the head spa so my hair was already clean, it was literally just a basic cut and dry of my slightly below the shoulder length hair. I didn't get the lady's name but I think she's the owner. She was very detailed with the cut and took her time. The biggest turn off was at check out. When I asked how much the total was, another lady (3rd one I'm encountering) paused a bit and said $90. I was thinking in my head $51 for my very basic haircut with no wash seemed like a lot but I didn't argue. However, I only had enough cash to tip the stylist but I also wanted to tip the spa service so I asked to tip on my card. The lady pulled out a calculator and added tax on top of my tip.
