Each has a soft sponge cake but the honey cake has a buttercream inside. The service is friendly and they help with any questions. The cost is really affordable with most things being about $2.50. We typically opt for the 10" size because you can request extra durian, if that's your thing. A 10" cake with extra durian ran us around 63$. You just call them directly and order it via phone. So I was craving for an asian roll and since ive read reviews on yelp stating this is a must try place I went and checked it out. Funny thing is ive been around this location before but i havent stepped in to this bakery.. Upon walking in - The baby crib is behind the counter...WTF?! Found out the owner's son - the toddlers are his siblings. They were emptied out of many "buns" per say and I ended up buying an egg custard, 2 sliced rolls (coffee and honeydew) and a slice of their honey cake. Everything was good except for the slice of honey cake...very dry. Another thing i noticed the son which was the clerk at the time was nice and helpful but when I paid for my items he somewhat kinda threw the receipt to me in my hands.... he sarcastically giggled -- yeah whatever. I have no plans on going back - 1st oriental market has better cakes and so does the next door bakery as well. read more

I was looking, all over Florida, for Baked Roast Pork Buns, that I used to buy from the Chinese Bakery, upon Brooklyn, NY...well, they were almost perfect...they lacked the bbq roast pork filling in them, it was not enough to enjoy it fully...it was basically a roll with a teaspoon, if that ofRoast Pork in them! They were very reasonably priced...$1.25 each...and the bread was delicious, sweet but not overly sweet! I'm so sad that my experience here wasn't good :( I got the steamed pork buns, a custard bun, and a taro bubble tea. The steamed pork bun I had was just overwhelmingly mediocre. The bun itself wasn't very fluffy or sweet, and the filling was lame. Tiny bits of spare rib and pieces that looked surprisingly just like fat chunks all coated in a terrible red food coloring. The custard bun was somehow MORE disappointing as it didn't have any filling at all? It had a hole inside where it was clearly supposed to be filled but was empty. And the bubble tea tasted like slurping taro powder, and was both too thick and too icy. Really disappointing as I wanted to find a yummy Asian bakery to get boba and buns at and this is clearly not the place :( read more

Qi Dragon Bakery is a relatively new Chinese style bakery that has opened up off of Orange Blossom Trail in a small shopping plaza just a few blocks north of the Florida Mall. Inside the selection is few, with the bare basics of bakery sweets from the sponge cupcake to lotus bean cakes to napoleons to cookies, pastries, and more. They also have my favorite cakes in the whole world, the Chinese birthday cakes with the fruit in them (they're less sweet than the traditional cakes and lighter). The bakery items I had were sweet, fresh, and among the best quality I've had from traditional Chinese bakeries. Though the selection is a bit limited, I would come back again to try out their other items and its a nice place to drop by if I am in the area going to the Florida Mall or shopping nearby. Qi Dragon Bakery adds a little Asian flare into their baked goods, serving both traditional and non-traditional treats...at least they're non-traditional in comparison with bakeries in America. Aside from cakes, Qi Dragon Bakery has a wide variety of different buns and breads to choose from with fillings that are not considered ordinary like taro, a sweet lotus bean filling and honey. You can choose to go sweet or salty with ham and cheese or hot dogs in a bun. My favorite is the small pastry ball covered in white sesame seeds and filled with a lotus bean filling. So good! Overall, this bakery is a refreshing change from your typical everyday cake and sweets bakery. There aren't many bakeries outside of the downtown area, so I was pleased to see this pop up on my yelp search. I had a mango boba smoothie and a delicious custard cream bun. Qi Dragon is a great place for traditional Asian desserts! My only complaint is that if you come later in the day, they run out of all the good pastries so there's not a good selection. The store is pretty small but they have a wide menu of drinks and other things than just baked goods. Good place to check out! read more

SURPRISING LITTLE FIND HIDDEN AMONGST TOURISTS With its proximity to the bustling Florida Mall and equally busy surroundings, it was surprising to find this calm and cute place in an 'off' plaza. VARITY OF PUFFY PASTRIES I'm no expert on Chinese pastries (I assume these are Chinese-based) however I've seen many of these at Orlando Asian markets. The Bread Pastries are very light, airy, spongy... you can't compare these against typical, American pastry shops. These are their own category and will definitely appeal to someone- Just not me (but I can't dock points for personal tastes). And these guys seem to do it very well. TAKE IT TO GO All items are created in-house and most Bread-y items are already wrapped up in plastic for easy transport. The prices on their pastries are great- these are great snacks for a good price. They also had a few little Cakes but I didn't try those. Thier bakery is nothing special. I really wonder how they get 4 stars? We bought few buns, Cream Buns, Roast Pork, Milk Bun, 2 Curry Chicken Bun. So far, none is outstanding enough to earn 3 stars. The bun texture is dense, and on the dry side. Since we bought 2 Curry Buns, one is softer than the other. It makes me wonder if they are selling yesterday's bread mixed in with a new batch? We were there on a Saturday, 11:30 a.m., and bread that's baked few hours earlier shouldn't taste like this! Cream on the Cream Bun is kinda bland, thus rendered the whole bun kinda tasteless. Normally the bun itself would have a nice sweet milky taste even without the cream, but this Cream Bun lacks it. Filling for the rest of the buns, is really disappointing. Wish we didn't buy so much. Bakery at NC grocery supermarket is much better! We tried thier Bubble Slushy, and it's ok, nothing outstanding either. I'm not a fan of bubbles with slushy, extreme cold + bubbles = tough and hard bubbles. read more

The most adorable mini honey cakes in Orlando for only $1.00 and I'm talking about soft whipped frosting, walnuts filled, chocolate chips loaded, fruit topped, coconut shreding on all corners types of mini cakes. They also have some honey cakes that are decorated with some of the cutest quirkest animals...u will see a mouse or cat decorated on some of the mini cakes! Very cute indeed! The cakes are super fresh and have a light honey flavor to the base which is deliciously balanced out with all the sweet toppings. 2.)This place is very recession priced friendly...a combo special of coffee, mini honey cake, and 4 cookies comes out to $1.99 TOTAL. -Delicious buns in a different assortment of flavor ranging from 70 cents to 90 goes great with coffee in the mourning.- 3.)Alas u can order a slush boba drinks for $2.99... the flavors include coconut, coffee, strawberry, melon, and mango. I recommend the coffee slush....it reminded me of Starbucks frappachinos but with boba bubbles!! Although the ice in the slush hardens the boba jelly texture overall the drink is still mightly flavorful..I believe they uncoded the addicting secret inside of Starbucks and used it for their benefit..hmmmm. The coconut slush was refreshingly and creamy with a hint of sweet it should go well with one of the mini honey cakes. 4.)The workers here are as sweet as their cakes. Convinced yet? I was pretty excited when I found out about this little bakery on my side of town. It's a small store but they still have a good variety of baked goods. Along with the usual buns and rolls, they also sell the Asian sponge, fruit cake. If you've never had it before, you need to try it! Most of the buns and rolls are priced at less than $1.00. I tried the hot dog bun and egg custard tart. The hot dog was a bit salty but paired well with the slightly sweet bread wrapped around it. I thought the egg custard tart was just okay compared to other places I've had it at. I'll definitely have to make a trip back soon to try some of the other goodies! I've been to several Asian bakeries in Orlando. Coming 1.5hrs it's hard to stock up if you don't go early. They have great prices & you can't order in advance! They have savory meats/ sweet breads & desserts. I brought 4 American friends to try it for the first time, they loved it. Brought some home to my parents & they're going to start shopping here too. This tucked away hidden chinese bakery is in my opinion is a must go to if you can get their early in the morning when they first open. My sister and I managed to wake up early and visit this chinese bakery and got fresh first day of the pick buns while they were still hot. They have a good amount of selection of items. Sadly though, because we got their early they have no had everything made yet so we were limited in what we could try. Wish they had everything made so we could have tried more things. None the less, the items we did try were the taro, cream, and bbq pork buns and they all were excellent. The price also is excellent for only .90 cents!!! You can can't ask for more than a delicious item for .90 cents. The other times I did notice that were available for around .90 cents also/other buns were curry chicken, hot dog, cheese, etc. The typical chinese bun choices. Overall, a great Chinese bakery for great prices. Just wish they had more selections available that I liked early in the morning when they first open when everything is still hot. (3/25/2017) Got my fave yellow cup cakes from this Chinese bakery stand at the 14th Annual Taiwanese Food Festival. Brings back childhood memories. Best eaten with piping hot tea or a cup of coffee in the mornings. These cakes are tall, pale yellow, fine crumbed, barely sweet, eggy and fluffy-springy like a sponge.
