Always go here for my locks needs. Great customer service and great work. Went here to get new keys and locks for my house and they had everything I needed. While getting you keys worked on you can shop around the store for tea and other household goods. Price is very reasonable. read more

Willing to overlook the if-fy location and lack of parking for great service at reasonable rates. She re-keyed 2 brand new door handles for me for $7 each. Other local locksmiths quoted $15. Lowe's charges $5 to re-key locks (I purchased the locks from Lowes.com), but their closest store was in Union City / Fremont area, so it was nice to find a local business to support. read more

Jenny (?) was so helpful and gave me a really good deal when I asked her to make a copy of my original key that was bent from an attempt of opening the trunk. She was honest up front that she wasn't sure if she could make me a copy, but she did! And then for the next hour, she made sure that my new copy was able to work fully (for the door and ignition). It took many tries, but she perfected my copy, and only charged me $5 for it! When I asked her for two more copies, she charged me $5 each again. No way - I gave her extra, because I was so happy with her service and patience, and because she was willing to give me a real deal for the amazing work she did! The lady running this place is such a sweetheart!!! An amazing tea selection and very inexpensive boil kettles along with neat tea pots can be found here. I walked out with a 1/4 pound of oolong-ginsing tea and a gravity fed tea pot for like $30. I drink 3-4 cups of this stuff a day, and a 1/4 pound lasts 3-4 weeks. I've cut my coffee consumption by half. I love the ritual of looking forward to, and brewing my tea before and after work :). On my days off, I just drink tea. Very friendly service, inexpensive prices, but quality products make this place a CLASSIC oakland diamond in the ruff. read more

So this is a bizarre business combo, but YES Quach really does Locksmithing and tea. Actually they sent a very nice Chinese man, Michael out to do the work, I don't think he's Mr Quach. Took ~25 mins to arrive Took ~5 mins to open the door, it was a handle lock, not a deadbolt. Total cost was $65, which is very good. I think you could probably bargain the price down a bit but it's Christmastime. They don't speak English very well but its not to hard to get the point across when you're locked out. Their radius is about 3 miles from E12th street -- over near Lucky by-the-lake, so if you're far from the lake it might take 'em a while to get there. Bovie locksmith is actually a little closer to me and the guy there seemed like he knew his stuff well, but I got his voicemail when I first called. read more

Mr. Quach is amazing. I have yet to visit the actual tea shop, but I called him to take the broken Club that was permanently locked onto my steering wheel. Shortly thereafter, he arrived with a very powerful buzz-saw and took that sucker right off. He was so careful to not hurt the car, and even offered to clean it with cleanser when he was done. He was very professional, fast, and so kind. And the best part was the totally affordable price! I have his number in my phone and on my fridge in case of emergencies now. I usually do not feel compelled to write reviews about basic services such as key cutters, let alone take time out to write good ones but this one deserves a nod. The customer service was very good, the keys came out as good as the originals, and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place. I also bought a pair of work sleeve covers from among the nice assortment of basic household and Chinese items in their store. Very pleasant interaction. Mr. Quach is very friendly and knowledgeable about Chinese tea and he is more than willing to share a sampling of tea from his family's Chinese plantation at this fancy wooden carved tea table towards the back of his store, that also sells misc housewares, and is the base for his locksmith service. He happily and purposefully spills tea to clean and heat tea cups so it appears there is a river of tea flowing within the carved wooden banks of his table. His teas may seem a little more expensive to someone not knowledgeable of tea quality (like us at one point) but we've shopped around at other tea places to compare and have actually found, that his to be of very high quality, most quantity for what we've learned to be, a very reasonable price. OK, the storefront isn't as fancy as some, there aren't waiters doing the fancy gong fu/gaiwan ceremonies, and he doesn't have the big international selection as some other places we've been to, but if you are one of the types that are a big fan of high quality Chinese teas and are able to drink tea all day long, the value/quality comes in the multitude of infusions one can make from this tea, while still maintaining quality taste. One thing, whatever you do, don't get him started talking about Tai Chi -- I don't know what he gets more excited talking about more - tea or Tai Chi! Another thing, Mr. Quach is like Superman - one minute he's talking tea, next minute he's off to save someone from being locked out of their house! His friendly personality; Mrs. Quach's helpfulness and sweetness to us; and, most of all, their teas will keep us loyal customers, hands-down. read more

I got great service today at Quach's Locksmith. But the shop is now at 106 International Blvd. right near lake Merritt. I had two locks rekeyed for $14, which is an amazing value. The owner, Jenny, did the work in about 15 minutes and made me a cup of tea while I waited. Her husband imports tea from China, and they sell tea plus an interesting selection of odds and ends at the store. Jenny also showed me the workings of the lock and why the old key stopped functioning. I wish I needed locksmith work more often. Highly recommended. read more

I'll tell you what, this place is the best! Super Duper Personable kinda like family and will do anything she possibly can to make something work. I mean in a pinch I call in a panic regarding my toolbox on my truck and needed a key make if possible.....she told me to give # on cylinder lock and I gave she then asked me to bring in the actual cylinder itself. So I did and she took the # that was on cylinder and put 2 keys that are supposed to lock and unlock this lock. They both didn't work. She kindly explained that the reason for that is anyone can make a copy of your key with the simple 3 digit # so she is going to actually replace and make impossible to duplicate for only $13 and I've just priced on amazon for $10/each cylinder with 1 key and I need 2. She's only charging me $13........Wooooow I love this place read more
