We've visited on 2 occasions. The first visit made quite an impression. Their Crab Dip, Crab Cakes and all of the entrees were prepared to perfection. Stopped in here for lunch as the reviews for the chicken wings sounded really good. We walked into the dinning room and were greeted by a frazzled waitress who immediately let us know she was the only one on, staffing both the bar and dinning room areas. And, so it would take a long while to get service and food. We stayed anyway, we weren't in a hurry. I picked up menus and brought them to the table we sat at. In the time we looked at the entire menu and decided what we each were going to order, the waitress came back to take our order. We asked for three orders of chicken wings with celery and sauces, a blooming onion, fries, and a cheeseburger. When Nikki brought out the blooming onion and fries she apologized for the wait and bought over a pitcher of water since she knew she wouldn't be around to refill our glasses. I really appreciated her thoughtfulness. As our food came out she asked if we needed anything else, we were good so she quickly went off to the bar area. My guest were content with the size, crispiness and flavor of the wings. My burger had American cheese, mayo, onions, pickles and lettuce and tomatoes. It came with a pickle and chips. I don't care for chips but there's no lesser version price wise without. The cheese on the burger tasted like cheddar not American and the patty was well cooked but not seasoned. The meat had that not so fresh meat taste and smell so I added a lot of salt and pepper. All the other ingredients were fresh. The blooming onion should've been cooked longer as the center of it still had raw batter and the onion wasn't fully cooked. We took it home to put into our air fyer. The fries weren't anything special as they were thin and not seasoned. The location was on the right side right after passing a one way under pass. It has a small parking lot. The entry has a left door for the tavern and the right door for the dinning room. At first we were going to sit at the tavern side but it was too hectic and loud. They care about the place and the customers. a regular home burnt down. they rasied 2 k for them. food drive for people in need. They give back to the community. My wife and I visited your establishment today. She ate the chicken bowl. I had the grilled scallops and shrimp and added a crabcake for appetizer. We had potato skins with cheddar cheese and bacon. I also had the barbecue baked beans we both had garden salads The staff was very kind and very courteous. I just wanna say thank you very much for everything. Met friends for happy hour and dinner. The location is ideal located off the rail trail. The acoustics aren't the best, but the beer is cold and the food is hot. The pricing is very reasonable for the food you get. You can stop in for a cold one if you are riding the trail but parking is ample if you just want to drop in for meal , appetizer or a quick drink. Hey Siri how's your typical dive bar filled with bar food, bar scene, and tavern tables. That occasionally has live music and the patrons are always friendly. I've never officially sat there for dinner, but can attest that the bar area has always been welcoming when you can manage to find a seat. Even during live events, standing room only allows you to grab a drink and listen to the music. It is a hometown Bar feel and I think some of the ratings reflect people who expect otherwise. read more

We ordered a 20 pc broasted chicken, it was as advertised, absolutely delicious A+. Also ordered 2 dozen wings, a dozen in 2 different rubs/ sauces, salted caramel and Garlic Romano. The wings were absolutely horrible. Fried to point of being crispy and dry all the way through, 5 people ate these and it was a unanimous grade of F. This review is of the bar area since I haven't been inside the restaurant in a decade or more. Small, run-down bar. Limited craft beer options on tap but they have a larger selection of bottles, however, the chalkboard is rarely updated so have a few choices handy when the bartender tells you they "ran out of that". The service is usually slow here and not very attentive. 2 saving graces are the pool table and the dart board. I heard that on certain days they bring in a lot of dart boards and have a tournament - but I haven't seen it myself. Small, local family-style restaurant with friendly but slow service. Wife's hamburger was large, juicy, and flavorful. My NY strip, on the other hand, had an awful vinegar after taste that looked like it wad cooked in a microwave. Forget the "blooming onion," overcooked on the outside, raw batter on the inside. Was riding along the Heritage Rail Trail and a woman walked by and we asked her about an ice cream place. She was super nice and said that she did not know of one, but the Valley Tavern half a block away had snow cones and such and she said she worked there. We rode a bit further, then came back thinking of a snow cone. We went into the bar and it was busy--no problem. Then this same lady came in and we asked if we were in the right place as we were on the bar side--she said yes. We hung around and about 12 people got served-most everyone there. Another couple came in after us, sat down and got served. We weren't sure why we weren't worthy of service, but we left--and no, we didn't smelled from riding!!! However I found the T-bone steak to be of very low quality and poor flavor The smoked pork chop meal tasted great but again the low quality of the pork chop detracted from the meal.I have never seen 2 pork chops so paper thin,the two combined was thinner than 1 regular pork chop. If you want to hear a bunch of rednecks constantly yell racial slurs and have disgusting conversation across the bar while you're trying to eat, drink, and enjoy yourself this is the place for you. Even if you stay out of the bar the fries are terrible and the rest of the food is almost below average. Shrimp and crab quesadillas usually taste like the meat is too old and just "fishy". Poor customer service. Warning ... do not try to deviate from the menu. If you order a buffalo chicken sandwich don't ask for the sauce on the side. Even though this actually saves the cook some time you can not have it your way. Believe me, I tried and received a blunt NO we cannot do that. I even explained I like to put my own buffalo sauce on because I don't like my food drenched in sauce. Still, NO ...they have to toss the chicken in the sauce. So I tried ordering a regular Chicken Sandwich with the special side,,,response...NO we can't do that the side only goes with the special sandwich. End result all I ordered was a bowl of soup. Now, wouldn't you think they would bring the soup as an entree since that was all I ordered,,,no,,,brought out as an App so I had to sit and watch the rest of my table enjoy their entrees. I used to try to order a slice of lemon with my tea and would be told the tea has enough lemon in it....after explaining I simply wanted extra lemon the waitress would begrudgingly add the slice of lemon. I've been in food service for over 30 years...this is not how you treat customers. The Valley Tavern in your typical local PA restaurant/bar. The food is good and comes out in a timely manner. The staff are hit or miss! Last time that we went, the waitress was not the nicest person you'd ever deal with. My father knows and likes jis iced tea, and he felt like it was old since he claimed it had that stale taste, and she argued that it wasn't old. He asked if the fish was fresh, and she told him that ll fish is frozen unless you cook it up right off of the boat. I had ordered a sandwich with chicken and crab and the crab was obviously bad (it had that real strong ammonia smell. We passed it around the table and everyone of us could smell it. When we asked her to smell it, she said it smelled fine, but offered to make us something else. She came back and told us that everyone in the back smelled it, and thought it smelled fine. If bad crabs (one of the worst smells in the world, in my opinion) "smell fine", it really worries me about the rest of the food that they serve here. Even though we have had pretty good experiences here in the past, this really makes us apprehensive to come back (for both the attitude we were given and the unwillingness to admit that the food was bad). It was so bad, that we are half tempted to report them to the Health Department. I still gave them 3 stars, since every other time we have been here, there were no complaints, but this last time put a bad taste in our mouths...literally! read more
