Rather than making excuses, he acknowledged the situation professionally and made it clear that he is committed to improving the department and raising the level of service customers receive. Just like Will, Ash was very friendly and professional in his e-mails to me. I was fearful that they would try to upsell me with add-ons, or make the long drive out there only to find out that the car was no longer available, but those fears were unfounded. Once my husband and I reached the dealership, Ash greeted us immediately, knew exactly who I was, and knew exactly what car and what price we agreed upon. No haggling, no bait-and-switch, no upsell tactics. We were also introduced to Will who showed my husband the vehicle for a test drive. Will was such a car enthusiast like my husband that they spent the next 15 minutes just chatting up about all the previous vehicles they had owned. He was such a pleasure to work with! At the time, I declined because I like to research expensive repairs before proceeding. I called yesterday to schedule an appointment based on the 'Service Due' message on my dashboard. My car has approx 37K miles on it now so it is just out of warranty but due for an oil change & tire rotation. I purchased the service maintenance plan when I purchased the auto in National City (another story) so those services are covered until the plan expires next year. Again both a Brake Flush and a Coolant Transfer was recommended. I said 'yes' to those additional services knowing I had time to research typical cost, etc. for those services. Well, low & behold, I discover that Mazda specs recommend a Coolant flush at 10 years/120K miles! In the meantime, I called a local auto service who was APPALLED that Mazda Carlsbad would 'recommend' service that was unnecessary and didn't correspond to Mazda's official recommended service schedule. So, I called JUAN to discuss this discrepancy (recommending a service 90K miles BEFORE it was necessary). I just got off the phone with him and his attitude was 'it's recommended, but hey, it's your my decision'! Thank you, JUAN for allowing me to make my own decision, you little snake! So, even though I called him out for recommending an unnecessary service he acted as if it was no big deal trying to sell me on something my car didn't really need. Now that my car is out of warranty I will only take it there for oil changes, tire rotation and services covered by the plan until it expires next year. Oh, and by the way it appears that their service personnel seems to be different every time I go there... STAY AWAY FROM MAZDA CARLSBAD. THEY ARE SHADY AF.
