Dono runs one of the only Peugeot shops in Southern California. When I first bought it, I took my 1989 405 Mi16 to him for a smog check, oil change, and to fix a heavy power steering. They did a great job, and the price wasn't bad at all. He also still has the Peugeot parts catalog on microfiche, so he was also able to give me a lot of part numbers for stuff I needed, which made my later searches much easier! Being experts in French cars, I am sure Dono and his team can take care of any Euro car! This is a shop with a lot of integrity. read more

He is always able to help me whenever I call and goes above and beyond to check my whole car no matter what I come in for. My mom and sister have brought their cars to Dono for repair for eons and I never did because I don't live close to Santa Monica. However, this week I brought my brother's car in for service and met/spoke with Dono and my experience has been PHENOMENAL. He is honest, thorough, reasonable in pricing and went above and beyond walking me through the insurance process. Ultimately the car is 'totaled' where no repairs are necessary but Dono nevertheless helped me still coordinate with the insurance to pick up the car and he made $0!! I originally posted a review of Westside Motors 7 years ago (the first time I went) and felt compelled to update my review, as I've continued taking my car exclusively to Westside Motors ever since. Dono is the absolute best. I am constantly impressed by his knowledge, kindness and straightforward way of explaining my car's issues to me. I moved to another part of LA (about 25-30 miles away) and STILL only take my car to Westside Motors. I always feel taken care of and I always feel listened to. Would your mechanic ever say to you, "I would love to find something wrong with your car, I would love the work, but there simply isn't anything for me to do here."? Well Dono Soeharto at Westside Motors would. I went in there with what I thought was a massive oil leak and the imminent death of my engine. Dono put my car up on the lift, ran a thorough test and called me back to the shop to assure me that there was nothing wrong. "I put a few quarts of oil in, you'll be fine, trust me" he said. Trust a mechanic? Are you kidding me? He had shown me what could go wrong and what he could have "fixed" but didn't and so I decided to take him at his word. It is 2 weeks later and the car is running fine. Is Dono the greatest mechanic in L.A.? I don't know, what I do know he isn't going to rip me off, that alone means I'll be going back. read more

Four years ago, I was led to Westside Motors by the outpouring of positive reviews, and I can only add to them. Dono has been more straightforward with me than any mechanic I have ever used. We have taken in 4 different cars to him and I won't go anywhere else as long as we are in the LA area. Plenty of times we have left without paying a dime because Dono cannot find anything wrong with the car, and when we have had issues there was never a sense that he was taking advantage of us. He has even recommended a cheaper alternative at a different place, which has never happened to me before. In my 11+ years in WLA I had looked high and low for a honest, dependable mechanic. Dono of Westside Motors has exclusively been my mechanic for past few years; he is earnest, reputable, and communicative. He works fast, and patiently explains to you the problem he finds and how it is affecting your car's function. He distinguishes what are necessary repairs, and advises you on maintenance scheduling. I recently took my car in with a problem after getting a full tune-up from our family mechanic (parents generously trying to do me a favor). Dono was understanding, and traced the not-so-easily-diagnosed problem to a cheaper replacement part from a generic brand. He explained that this is why he personally only uses factory brand parts on all repairs, and though his rate for labor is comparable to other mechanics, his rates for materials can be a bit higher. An attempt by one mechanic to keep costs low, even if for our best interest, ended up costing much more to diagnose and fix, as well as a whole day of my time. Too many trusting car owners - especially females - have been taken advantage of by the auto repair industry, and Dono refreshingly restores my faith. Every time I bring my car into get serviced at Westside Motors, the mechanics tell me what I need, what I will need and wait for it, what I don't need. I almost feel like I'm trying to get these guys to do unnecessary work. Maybe it's because I have been so brainwashed that I expect them to up sell me. Never going to happen here. They have been servicing my car for over 6 years and have kept my car in tiptop shape with regular maintenance. I referred my sister-in-law here to repair her windows and they told her that the body shop that recently did repair work had cut a wire. They could have charged her 500 dollars to fix it, but instead they sent her back to they body shop and had the insurance cover it. An honest mechanic is hard to find so hold onto this number! read more

A friend recommend this place to me. They were great. Incredibly responsive. I brought in a Jeep Wrangler making crazy sounds. Right away they told me it was the brakes and fixed them that same day. The best part, they said don't bother replacing the front pads because you still have time left on them. Unheard of, a mechanic telling you to wait and not do something. read more

Our family has been going to Westside Motors for years. Many of the cars he helps maintain have more than 300,000 miles on them I learned recently. I drive a 1985 Volvo - running perfectly, still. Needed the PCM in my Jeep replaced and had the part, Dono had me come in the same day and had it done in an hour at a great price. It's hard to find a trustworthy mechanic, so if you're looking for one, look no further! I took my 14-year old Jeep Cherokee to Dono at Westside Motors when the brakes started acting up. He was super friendly, and called me right away after he had a look. My brakes on my front two tires were basically gone, grinding against metal. My rear two brakes were low and were uneven wear. Dono called me to tell me this, but he may have well been speaking a different language because I didn't understand the technical stuff. I told him I wasn't really understanding, so he backed up and told me in layman's terms exactly what was happening. It all made sense! He even saved the parts for me and when I got there he showed me what was wrong (compared to new parts) with them to further help educate me. I had also asked him to change my oil and he recommended me to someone else because he can't do it as cheap as a Jiffy Lube could. Just for that honestly I asked him to do it, even if it was a couple dollars more. He even told me that if I was ever going on a road trip, to bring my car by first and he could check it out to make sure I was all set. He was super friendly and a good people person. I needed to get my car get repaired, and the AAA driver recommended that I bring it to Westside Motors. I was skeptical because I figured he was getting a kickback, but Dono is great and has become the only mechanic that I trust in LA. There is a reason his reviews are so high, and I doubt he has ever asked anyone to write about him on Yelp (unlike other places that even offer discounts for simply checking in). Having a trustworthy mechanic is a must and Westside Motors is the place to go. I was referred to Dono and he went above and beyond. I have a 2013 Subaru Outback and I've been taking it to the dealer for my services. Well I recently hit the 30,000 mile marker and they said my next service was going to be around $500 to do a "thorough" service. I wasn't so sure this was necessary so I made an appointment for first thing in the morning at Westside Motors and Dono was there waiting for me. He said he will check everything out and let me know what "needed" to be done. He changed my cabin filter and air filter and he even showed me how bad it looked. Then he topped off all my fluids and told me how my brakes were doing. He explained that my oil was really low and he even printed an article out for me that stated my car has a tendency to have this issue and gave me some recommendations to prevent any major damage. Awesome!!! My totally bill was much less than what the dealer quoted me. I had a great experience and will always come back and spread the word! read more

We just found our new mechanic- Donno is the best! We're Yelpers & trusted the recent reviews about the shop & the mechanic- the reviews were reliable & true! Our Jeep Wrangler needed some checking- brake lights, signal lights, weird anti freeze smell, a/c, etc. By the time Donno had the chance for a quick assessment, we learned that our radiator needed to be replaced & had been leaking underneath the Jeep. He gave us a quote about what needed to be done & my hubby even requested for a last minute oil change- the price was reasonable & he didn't try to sell us other things that you would expect from any mechanic. Additionally, he looked at our a/c & said it's not broken & the problem only involves the face plate where the knobs are- & he didn't even charge us for that & told us what we needed to do. I have never met anyone as honest as Donno- he's very trustworthy & just a simple honest guy! From now on, our jeep would only be taken to Donno & nowhere else- thanks Donno! read more
