As the other reviews comment, the store is messy and it's cold. But ya know what? I don't care. I care that my favorite shoes get repaired well and the repairs last. I took two pairs of shoes to get fixed over 2 months ago. I waited to review to give me enough time to wear them and see how they held up. That makes me happy. Very happy. I'm only taking off a star because the hours posted aren't always indicative of when they're actually open, so I had to make an extra two trips because of it. I've been waiting for 2 months for a simple strap to be replaced on my purse. I'm done with this damn place. This is all you need to know: 1) There is only one guy working in the whole place. 2) If your stuff is ready, it's sitting on a rack in front of the counter. 3) There's a girl that "helps" the cobbler guy, but she doesn't seem to have a function in the store. If you try to ask her for information on your item, she'll say she doesn't know. You can ask when the cobbler will be back to the shop...doesn't know. You can ask her what day it is, and guess what...she doesn't know. 4) They will not hire more cobblers. 5) They won't charge you until the item is fixed. So if you've been waiting too long, you can ask for it back unfinished free of charge. The cobbler guy is nice. Doesn't have a strong English vocabulary, but he means well. The girl is a drain on society, an insult to the human race, and should be tied, tarred and feathered. read more

My experience reflects that of others here. It was terrible. This store was actually recommended by another store owner whom I won't embarrass by identifying. Last Thursday I dropped off a leather briefcase with a leather handle that had started to rip. The owner (apparently) and I discussed (I thought) the best way to repair (sew leather reinforcement and rivet; I used to do leatherwork in the distant past). He said it would be ready in 1 1/2 hours. I said I would come back two days later on Saturday. He said ok. Now I wonder how much we were really communicating. English is not readily spoken here. On Saturday at 11:30 they were closed. I searched online for their phone number and called, hoping to get their hours of business (there is no sign with hours on door or front window). I got a fax machine. On Tuesday I returned at 2 pm. The owner said it would be ready (again) in 1 1/2 hours (I am beginning to wonder if this was one of a few phrases he had memorized). Not happy, I left and returned the next day. The owner wasn't there but his wife and daughter were. I asked for my briefcase that had been dropped off for repair. The mother did not understand at all and asked her daughter (maybe 10) to talk to me. I described the Kenneth Cole Reaction briefcase and the girl talked with her mother. They then started pulling things from piles around the show. They showed me sandals, high heels, a leather vest, a leather jacket, and two small purses. The girl finally said her dad would be back in 20 minutes and they were open 11 to 5. They asked me to come back. I did some other shopping and returned a half hour later (4:50). The store was closed. I left my business card with a note asking for a call to confirm that the bag was done before making another trip from Kachina to 4th St. I never got a call back. Defeated once again, I returned the next day. This was 8 days after I had been told 1 1/2 hours. The owner was there. He quickly found my bag and asked me to wait while he did the work. I asked for the bag back and will be finding someone else to repair it. There was no way he would do a quality job with me standing there. As noted by others, this place is a dump. It is filthy with piles of shoes, purses and unidentifiable items in piles everywhere on the floor and on every counter surface. I really hadn't paid much attention to that when I dropped the briefcase off because I was coming off a recommendation and in a hurry. It is very unfortunate that these folks were so disorganized, dirty and irresponsible. Perhaps they do nice work. I will never know. We don't have a lot of options in Flag so I will probably have to get it repaired elsewhere. One reviewer was kind and said the owner was a reputable businessman who hired bad people. Perhaps I was not dealing with the owner but the family of one of the bad people he hires. This doesn't excuse the horrific condition of the shop and does little to excuse the terrible service. I cannot imagine any owner who visited even once every few months allowing his business to degrade so much. The filth and piles of shoes etc were not created in a few days or weeks. The complaints here go back to 2013 so this is not a new problem. I only wish I had read the reviews here before wasting a week with no results. I would give 0 stars if I could. The owner is a sweet, hard-working reputable business man, but he hires numbskulls needing work. A good heart w a bad business plan, which results in a bad experience for customers. In a nutshell, It took much longer than they said. I had to come back 3 or 4 times. I glimpsed one of my boots in a pile of other boots in the back, a big mound of unmatched pairs like something out of a NatGeo genocide article. It was awful to see my precious shoes treated that way! Worse, I pulled it out of the pile and it was covered in splotchy polish, the completely wrong color of my leather. They were eventually able to fix them good as new, no permanent harm no foul. However, my boyfriends boots were permanently ruined due to a errant sewing machine running off it's course. I was livid and quickly turned on my Alpha-Dog. The owner (like I said, really nice guy!) paid for a brand new pair for my boyfriend and I paid for mine (I felt bad and like I said they eventually got it done.) Long story short, I don't recommend the place. I hope the owner can start fresh and find a way to hire more qualified employees. read more

I took in two pairs of shoes 10 months ago. One was to be copied and a new pair of shoes made. The other had a simple velcro replacement on the strap. Every month I would go in to pick them up. Every month it was the same thing... "Oh, we had to order this or that. On Monday this will be coming or that will be coming. Come back next week. They will be finished next week." This went on for 10 months! Finally, today I went in and asked to pick up my shoes even if they were not finished. He could not find them. I refused to leave until my shoes were located and in my hands. I waited for more than 1.5 hours. The shoes were finally found and... were not finished. He hastily finished the velcro and it is poorly done. The shoes to be copied were not made and the originals were actually damaged. Use this place at your own risk. read more

I brought a pair of English chukka boots to them that I loved. The heel had fallen off. They replaced it exactly with a much sturdier repair than the original. I then brought a pair of my wife's Frye biker boots that she never wore because they were too tall for her. They shortened them perfectly including the bootstraps-better than I hoped. This is not a real business, but rather a messy, haphazard attempt at shoe repair. I had three pairs of boots that needed patched soles/new heels. I brought them to Quality Shoe Repair on a Saturday morning. The door to the place was open, but there were no lights on and their "OPEN" sign was dark. I wasn't sure if I should go in or not, but I peeked my head in, and there was a gentleman sitting behind the counter working on a pair of shoes. I asked if they were open, and he said yes. I walked in, expecting the gentleman to ask me what I needed, but he just continued to work on the shoes for another five minutes or so before calling his wife over to help me. Not a good first impression. The shop itself is quite chaotic with piles of shoes on every surface and handwritten signs taped up everywhere. I should also mention there was a significant language barrier for me, as I do not speak Spanish, and the owner and his wife do not speak any English. As I was waiting for assistance, another customer came in who appeared very antsy and upset, and it became clear that the gentleman was furiously working on repairing that customer's shoes. Perhaps they were not ready on time? None of these things were good signs, and everything in me told me to just walk away and not leave my shoes in this place. I decided to have some faith and I was able to communicate with the gentleman's wife enough to explain what was needed. She tagged my shoes, told me the anticipated price (reasonable), and said I could pick them up on Tuesday. Then, my expensive boots were cast atop one of the shoe mountains, and I was sure I would never see them again. In no way did I expect my shoes to be ready on Tuesday. I planned to attempt pick up and just take them back if they weren't ready. In the end, I sent my husband to fetch them on Thursday, hoping the extra time would help. When my husband went to pick up the shoes on Thursday, two of the three pairs were ready, and he was asked to "wait ten minutes" for the other pair. Not ideal to say the least. The results? One pair of black boots that needed new heels looks just fine. A second pair of tan ankle boots with tan heels received new, black heels. Not the best look. I will have to have those removed and redone. The pair that my husband had to wait for was done hurriedly and the shoddiness of the work shows. Needless to say, I won't be back. I wish Flagstaff had a true "Quality" shoe repair shop. It's definitely a need. read more

I have taken two pairs of shoes to this location so far. I am currently making arrangements to have my shoes shipped to Phoenix for repairs as needed. And, here is why. First pair I brought in, I gave then the benefit of the doubt, since lights and power went out in their facility. I dropped them off on a Tuesday, told they'd be done by Friday, they were not. Saturday the lights in the facility were out and I was told they would be done beginning of the week. When I went back, they had junky blue heel plastics to re-heel them, and the stuff the girl tried to put on them to color them the Tan of the Vera Wangs, was tacky, I had to get nail polish to cover the blue heel junk. The second pair, I dropped off, they never called, I needed them re-heeled and and the pads re-done as I had worn a hole in them. Over a week later I show up, and it is not done! They only re-heeled. At 1:50pm I was told to show up at 4pm. I showed up at 430, and they were NOT DONE! I was asked to wait 10 min. I did not have time and walked out. I will get the shoes tomorrow and be mailing shoes to a Phoenix and reputable dealer. DO NOT go here, your good shoes will be ruined when they return. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I dropped two pairs of shoes off here in mid- September. The first pair was done in a timely manner, however when I picked it up, there was glue on the boots, for unclear reasons, as the only thing I had asked them to do was replace the zipper. When I picked the first pair up, they told me that the second pair was not ready. I then stopped by four more times within the first 30 days, and each time was told, "Oh, they're not done yet." I then gave them another 30 days to get them done. When I stopped by again, there was only a child, probably 13 years old, working there. He told me that because they were summer shoes, they had been placed in storage in the back. He had no suggestions as to who I could call to get the situation resolved. I then remembered that I had at one point gotten the phone number of the daughter of the man who owns the store, so I called her, and she promised that she would find my sandals and call me back when they were available. I never heard from her. I have since returned 2 more times, the last being today, December 31st, when the sign on the door said they would be open. They were not. So it has now been 2 1/2 months since they took my summer shoes that I now need for a vacation, and not made any effort to return them to me, despite my numerous efforts to collect them. DO NOT TAKE YOUR SHOES HERE. If they do bother to repair them, they will do a poor job. If you even get the shoes back from them. Send your shoes to Phoenix. Much less hassle. read more

I took my work shoes in last month on a Thursday and was told I could pick them up on Monday, I went Tuesday to get them and they weren't done. I was told Friday, I came in Friday, still not done. I wanted to see them and he said they have a patch glued on them that needs to dry so it can be stitched, otherwise it slides around. I can get them Tuesday instead. No such luck, he very busy, Friday they will be ready, I had to work late on Friday so I asked if they were open on Saturday, yes yes, we open Saturday. Ok, I'll be in Saturday to get them. I made a special trip from Williams to pick up my shoes (39 miles one way) AND THEY WERE CLOSED!!!!!! I was fuming!!! I went back on Tuesday because I had to work late again. He made me wait while he was talking to some guy that was standing in there. He finally said something to me and I noticed he had one of my shoes in his hands taking out the laces and I asked if my shoes were ready and he said, "he be back in a few minutes for the stitching." I said" no, no, you've had them long enough, just give me my shoes!" You have lied to me about being open on Saturday and lied about a patch being in the shoes! I looked for the patch, there wasn't one! Never never again!!!!!! read more

Don't go here if you expect crisp efficiency! Time means nothing to these folks. Sometimes they're open, sometimes, not. And all phone numbers connected with this shop are out of order or disconnected. I delivered a pair of sandals that needed buckles. It took six visits to finally get the shoes and when I did, there were NO holes in the straps to accept the male part of the buckle. And gold buckles on silver shoes?? Terrible service!!!!
