Let's get the obvious out of the way first: the rooms are minuscule. I had a deluxe king room and there was never a moment when I could have my suitcase open without it being on the bed. Most times, I had to open it up, take what I needed, then close it up to store it in the closet before I could move about the room. That said, I marvelled at the ingenious way they got a king bed, a desk, an open closet, tea/coffee set, in-room safe, flatscreen and an ensuite in the space that they did. At night, the bed was perfectly comfortable and I wasn't disturbed at all by busy Pread Street or the lines at Paddington.
All the amenities are what they say they are and once I got used to the space I was allotted, I have to say that my stay was quite comfortable. It was a fairly priced night's accommodation literally out the door of Paddington Station and its Heathrow Express terminal (half a block up London street out of the north-east exit from the platforms). The only hotel closer to Paddington is the attached Hilton.
I tend not to spend much time in my hotel room when I'm in London so once adjusted to compact living, I couldn't get over the location. There are literally dozens of excellent Indian and Malaysian restaurants, local pubs, French bistro/brasseries and modern British cafes, gastro-pubs and restaurants in easy walking distance. Marble Arch, one of my favourite London neighbourhoods is also in easy walking distance and Oxford Street is just east of there.
Beyond there, you are, once again, literally living on top of Paddington station and six tube lines. There isn't anywhere in London that isn't in easy access of Paddington and therefore the Quality Crown.
I'd really recommend this hotel if you've got a stay under five days and needing to fly in and out of Heathrow. In terms of making efficient use of your time, nothing beats the transportation options and access to local businesses to make the most of a short stay, especially at under 150 pounds a night. read more
